I would like to share my experience with a business that we were welcomed with open arms and pushed…read moreaway like an outsider. We had our kids attend Toddler University Preschool, LLC for about 5 years. The director/owner is friendly and kind offering a preschool with love and passion like no other! Everything you would want to hear, even offering extra curricular activities like yoga, karate, animal experiences, zumbini, and a big firehouse graduation! My kids had the time of their lives. Creating friendships that last a lifetime. Friendships. Not just between the kids also between the parents. We have met a multitude of people in this business. Where you can message another parent and feel like you have known them your whole life. But something changed. Communication and my kid had meltdowns at drop off, but everything was "fine" when I ask how my child was during the day. But clearly my child did not think so. Being almost the oldest family attending and loyalty means nothing to a small business like this. Receiving a 30 day notice with no explanation (contract says no explanation can be given) other than "personal reasons" came to a shock. I was told to keep personal life and business separate and not let them mix. Payments we made rearly, participated school events, accepting of any changes to policies. There were no issues there. Once I received the 30 day notification (by text), at drop off/pick up I wasn't greeted by the owner anymore. I was greeted by the assistant teachers. I had questions and needed clarification, but I was told not to bring this topic up to her or the assistants (needed to relay messages and was not physically present) and not to reach out to other families because it wasn't "my place." As a mother it is my right to know what is happening with my child in someone else's care and why is it only happening to my child. When you think you know somebody better than your family, it's like getting stabbed in the back with a dagger. It hurts, but time will pass and will heal. After experiencing this. I would highly not recommend Toddler University Preschool, LLC. I don't want anyone experiencing rejection from a caregiver to your child with no explanation of any sorts, regardless of loyalty.

This is a tricky review to write, because one needs to grade on a curve when evaluating childcare in our screwed up educational system. There have been periods of time where the Young School was a frustrating mess, mostly due to issues with staff retention. But... I've done the math and even though it feels like we're bleeding money with their tuition, I'm shocked that they're able to retain anyone for any length of time at all. Their margins must be razor thin. Childcare is just a necessarily expensive service, given the complete lack of subsidies for it. This must make retention an intractable, permanent issue. As we approach the end of our pre-kindergarten run, the most important things stand out: our kids have loved their teachers. They've learned a ton there. They formed potentially lifelong friendships with the other wonderful kiddos. My wife and I have formed friendships with the other parents. We have had lots of quibbles with the school over the years, but in the end, we're grateful for them.

And as she has transitioned to other classrooms as she grows, it has been an easy process. From meetings with the parents, to introduction of new classroom, activities, change of routines (crib to cot or away from bottle to cup, for example) to the kids; the school has made it seamless. I appreciate that even the heads of the school know my child and us, the parents, by name. I appreciate the transparency, that even with a tiny bump or fall we are notified. And I cannot say enough about the updates through the day! It makes it even better knowing all our girl is doing - when and what she ate, diaper changes, sleeping times and, best of all, pictures. Our daughter loves her teachers and we love to know she is in such a nurturing environment.

The staff and student teachers genuinely care about the children and their learning. They work hard to bring in outside speakers and programs and our favorite extra curricular is the spring pajama party! In the past 2 years I have seen my anxious 3 year old who SCREAMED when she was dropped off turn into this amazing 5 year old who loves every second she gets to spend in the classroom. We so appreciate all that the Carroll Community Child Development Center has done for and with our child over the past 2 school years! I'm not sure how this time flew by so fast, but it did! Our child has nothing but amazing stories of her school days and we so appreciate each and every person who played a role in preparing her for kindergarten.

The Littlest Learners Child Development Center at Carroll Community College is dedicated to providing an intellectually stimulating environment that engages the children we serve. Our philosophy is one that supports each child's emotional, social, physical, and intellectual development while at our Center. We strive to teach the importance of exploration as well as the importance of play as a means to integrate math, science, language, literacy, music, art, and essential motor activities. Emphasis is placed on each child's individual learning style by an active, hands-on process that aids in the development of problem-solving and thinking skills. The Center follows the same Pre-kindergarten MSDE-accredited curriculum set forth by the state of Maryland. In addition, other theories/curriculum enhance the program. Students who complete the program are ready for kindergarten. The Center exceeds the state recommended child-to-teacher-ratio.
