I regret taking my kid here over the course of 2 years. Like other reviews she didnt learn a single thing and they let the kids watch Ipad. I found that very unprofessional. When my kid 1st started there at 2.5 year olds she didnt know how to eat snack/candies/ and drink juices/caprision. This school taught her all the unhealthy food. School events only provide juice/cupcakes/cookies never healthy fruits. read more

There are way too many to list them all BUT do yourself a favor and look else where! If you are looking for recommendations, message me! The issues were anything from not changing my children soiled diapers/pants, harassing my children (causing bleeding rash), blaming parents for injuries that took place at school, so far that they contacted CPS and traumatized my 2, 3 and 5 year old children. My children have been injured so many times at play and learn because teachers are always absent and/or teachers are too busy gossiping, creating false accusations or just not paying attention!They badgered my toddlers with questions. I will say Miss Clarissa is absolutely wonderful and took my baby in and made him feel comfortable, as far as the others, I agree with other reviews! Florinda is negative, unfriendly, not welcoming in any way and gossips about parents in front of children. Staff is way too concerned with events, trying to dress a way preschool directors should not and they are ALWAYS trying to dismiss children early. They promote children to higher grades to make room for new kids, even if they are not ready! My 3 year old will turn 4 in December and doesnt know one color! I could go on and on but I will close with this, my kids no longer attend this school, they are safe, and we are glad they no longer have to endure this treatment. read more

Five Stars Our daughter attended Play N Learn or just a few months, but it quickly became a place that felt like home for her and for us. It was her very first school experience, and we couldn't have asked for a better introduction to learning and community. From the moment we walked in, the teachers welcomed her with such patience, kindness, and genuine care. They took the time to get to know her, to comfort her through the early nerves, and to help her build confidence in this new environment. We will always be grateful for the warmth they showed, not just as educators, but as people who clearly love what they do. She formed sweet little friendships during her time there, the kind where children run up to each other with excitement each morning. It was heartwarming to watch her start developing those early social bonds and to see how thoughtfully the teachers encouraged kindness, inclusion, and sharing. The classroom was always full of engaging and creative activities, from hands-on crafts to themed learning days that kept things fresh and exciting. One of our favorite memories was the holiday events, the kids worked so hard, and the staff clearly put so much love into making it special. Play N Learn was the absolute best place for both my daughter and son. We had two amazing years at P'n'L, and the positive impact still resonates a year after our departure. Play n' Learn was one of the best decisions I made during my child's younger years. We had to say goodbye for the last time so she could go to kindergarten, and both her and I were filled with tears. This school becomes a second family, and my daughter is still saying she misses her teacher. They do so many activities both during the school year, and during summer. Miss Yvonne keeps parents informed throughout the day, and promptly replies to messages on their app. They update you throughout the day with photos, which is amazing when you're leaving your child there from morning until afternoon. Our son attended Play N Learn Preschool for a year after transitioning from an in-home daycare, and we couldn't be happier with our choice. It took him a few weeks to get used to the new environment but all the teachers, many of whom have been with the school for years, were so gentle and nurturing during the tearful drop offs. The teachers and director also handled our son's asthma with great care and attention, giving us peace of mind every day. Their dedication made our son feel comfortable and helped him learn so much. The school has a great facility, with a fantastic play area and a garden that the kids love, and the fun events throughout the year added to the positive experience. As a parent, im very vigilant when it comes to anybody watching my child, let alone trusting the proper daycare or preschool because lets face it, who or where you choose to keep your kid away from you or trust that responsibility to can make a life changing difference for their future. With that said.... I am absolutely greatful that my child attended her first 3 years of learning here at this Play n Learn. Their staff here has been unmatched and their service extraordinary at all levels of my child's learning experience. The best thing for me is that I always knew that my kid's teachers and their supporting staff would go to great lengths in making sure she was taken care of and exceptionally cared for. My child always looked forward to 'going to school' here. At this location(they have two), they are very hands on to each of their kids and their classes and all the teachers showed a genuine ability to care in what they did for the kids whether it was teaching them new things, holding their cute assemblies or shows for the parents, hands on learning, exercises, etc. Granted yes, that IS what they are paid to do but i still believe there is a choice that everyone has to want to do more. Taking care for kids all day and helping them learn is not an easy thing to do. Throughout the day, I would recieve communication from the staff of what ups and downs my child was having via their phone app and be able to address accordingly and get prompt feedback. One of the many things to share of my experience here is that although this location is placed in a local neighborhood off the 680 freeway, they take as many applicable measures to ensure that the children ARE SAFE in their care with things such as cameras throughought the property, coded accessability and an aware staff. They dont have the biggest property area but this school has a few small buildings positioned and a large play area out back with plenty of overhead shade. Their classrooms are clean and organized for each of the different age groups. They have a regimen day plan for the kids which include a lunch and a naptime. ...the difference in this location lunch vs the other location lunch is that here, parents need to pack a lunch for their child, the other location has a kitchen to provide their lunch. To sum it up... I can go on and on about how good this preschool was for my child and i can only speak from my experience here. No school or daycare center is perfect but All i could say is for You to give em a call, check the place out and see how your kid does. I was fortunate to have not one but both of my kids go to Play-N-Learn Massar. My husband and I are beyond thankful for the staff & their ongoing support of both of our kiddos. Their genuine care for the children and the families they serve is deeply felt upon entering. With my first, I was very nervous to send him to daycare; however, within minutes of the tour, my son was sad to leave. Fast-forward to four years later and 90 miles away from the bay area, our family landed in a predicament which put us in a position to choose a childcare facility for our youngest. Even though it would require that I pass at my job in downtown San Jose area and add another 30 or more minutes to my 2+ hour commute (one-way)- depending on the traffic and accidents, I would do it over and over again because I had peace of mind knowing my child would be safe and well cared for. My daughter had a wonderful few months at Play-N- learn while we awaited her opportunity to attend TK at my son's elementary school in the valley, where we now reside. We absolutely LOVE PNL Massar. I would give them a 10 star rating if I could and I always recommend to anyone for their kids! Both my kids attended/graduated from PNL and have been excelling in their classes in Elementary school. PNL is so much more than just a preschool, it's really a family. Both my children attended PNL. My son started around 2.5 years old and my daughter at 2 years old then taking a COVID hiatus to return to finish up before starting public kindergarten. First my experience with my son. He cried the first week due to separation and the teachers told me to trust it and I did (though my heart ached!). By the second week, he happily got dropped off like he'd been doing it for years. This reassured me that he was feeling safe and having fun. They had a ton of diverse activities with a good mix of play and learning and singing. The staff at PLN paid great attention to the diverse backgrounds of all the families that attended PNL and we felt incredibly welcomed as an LGBTQ family. My son was potty trained here at PNL and whatever formula they have, they cracked it and my son was potty trained in about a week. My son still remembers a lot of the teachers there. (Ms Yen, Ms Flo, Ms Yvonne) My daughter 3 years younger than my son has cerebral palsy and mild hemiplegia. The staff at PNL took special care to understand the needs of my daughter which included help with her braces and hygiene as well as help with physical and fine motor skills. Ms Tali was amazingly patient and diligent and Ms Yvonne paid great attention to detail and would always update us with her development. I'm grateful for PNL for making my daughter feel included and not different while subtly adjusting activities to her ability. I credit PNL for my daughter enthusiastically starting Kinder eager and willing to learn with the confidence that she is just like the other kids and she can do it herself. My daughter still references the little things from PNL like "Garden Wednesday" and "Michelangelo". It was all so memorable for both my kids. read more

Where do I began? There is sooo much I can say about PNL Massar. Over the last 4 years, my daughter attended PNl Massar since age two and recently moved up from kindergarten. As a Black parent to a Black presenting child, I was looking for a preschool in the San Jose area that was diverse and safe, and I got very lucky. Throughout the years PNL Massar provided a safe and healthy, nurturing, inviting, bright, magical, playful, and creative play environment for my daughter that helped foster the amazing little girl she is today. As an intentional parent, one of the most important things I wanted out of a preschool was an environment where my daughter would be embraced for who she was and looked like. The teachers and families of PNL did just that. Over the last four years I saw how much attention to detail the teachers and the director gave to my daughter, esp. If I had concerns or questions regarding anything! I also loved how they poured so much love into my daughter and called her beautiful every morning. The teachers are excellent. They are also very attentive, compassionate and treat your children as if they are their own. The school director Ms. Yvonne had a smile on her face every single morning when we walked through the door. She even called to check on me one day after a crying morning my daughter had that turned into me crying. PNL Massar became our second family, being from the east coast it was just what we needed as a solid support system. Did mention both locations stayed open the entire time during covid!! I can go on and on! but, again I appreciated our time spent at PNL Massar and the balance they provided between education and creative play. Last, but not least. I wanted to say a special Thank You to Ms. Florinda. She is an amazing person and teacher. I will forever love her for becoming a special role model to my daughter and always being open, honest and forthcoming about her skills and classroom expectation from the parents and students. Play 'N' Learn has been a blessing! I found them by pure luck in 2018. When I came down to see the location, I was greeted with such kindness from their director. I felt even safer seeing that there are cameras in each classroom, outside and a large TV monitor showing all angles right in the front of the office. When I walked through the classroom, I saw lots of smiling faces and very happy children. Such attentiveness to the children and teachers alike. Outside they have a sandbox, little basketball hoop, new playground structure, an outdoor garden with a planter box for each child level, and a turtle named Michelangelo that is the school mascot. This school is not just any school. They really care about their students. From their learning, to manners, friendships, and to overall being better kids in this everchanging world. What is also nice is they provide updates during the day to show what the kids are learning, along with their naps and any special announcements, including if there are safety concerns. My son has gone there from age 2 1/2 to just graduating Kindergarten and has had the pleasure of each teacher there. They make school fun, inviting and exciting. Even during the pandemic, this school stayed open for the essential workers and were on top of every health measure. One part I loved about the school was they had specialty weeks throughout the year. This would teach the children about all holidays with songs, occupations, water play week, spirit week, and their annual end of the year party complete with water slide! So much fun! Very grateful for each teacher that has played a role in my son's life: Ms. Alex, Ms. Jess, Ms. Clarissa, Ms. Celeste, Ms. Birdie, Ms. Ashley and especially to Ms. Flo (Kindergarten teacher) and Ms. Yvonne (Director). Leaving kids under someone else's care for an entire day, after a 30 minute tour of the facility, is a difficult decision to make. If you are considering a school, especially for under 2, look no futhur My 18 month old daughter started at this school after having a full time nanny in the house since she was 4 months. I had anticipated the first day, and a few weeks to be difficult for her but to our surprise, there was ZERO crying, even on day 1! She immediately felt like home and I give all the credit to her teacher, Clarissa who goes above and beyond to comfort the kids and create a welcoming environment. She encouraged friendships, kids to cheer for each other...something my daughter does at home now. The communication via app matches no other school. Clarissa was extremely attentive and I got pictures of any rashes and booboos in real time. If there was an incident in the class, Clarissa communicated it at pickup so we could also address it at home. If my daughter didnt eat well at lunch, Ms Flo from other class would come help and if still unsuccessful, they would offer lunch again at snack time. This level of care and attention is not common at preschools. My 3 year old was in Atzimba's class and he loved her. She kept the kids engaged and the science experiments were a hit for our son. It was a great balance of play and learn time. He still misses his Ms Atzimba! The teachers are very affectionate and you could tell that kids were close to their teachers. Unfortunately we had to pull the kids out of the school after 6 months due to a relocation. Yvonne was also an excellent school admin - we definitely miss PlaynLearn. read more

My oldest who is now 12 still talks about all the teachers and how much she loves Ms.Yvonne. She was such a shy kid until she sated here when she was 3. I was recommended to attend a tour of this preschool (Massar) from a co-worker after mentioning the need for an affordable daycare/preschool for my son. My Co-worker's daughter and son attended Play-n-Learn (PNL) and they absolutely loved it. Not only was the school within our budget, our son had a great time and learned a lot. During the onset of the pandemic, PNL was able to pivot quickly to comply (exceeded the minimum standards) with health regulations to keep this school open. I never felt nervous leaving my son, communication exceeded my expectation. I have so many pictures of my son at school on their App. I know when his naps are and when they are outside. My son made friends quickly and loved his teacher's aids. The play yard has lots of shade (yayy!), and is very clean. In sum, I recommend this school. Thanks PNL, you are missed. read more

Omg can I just say these folks made a world of a difference for my daughter W. W was very attached and anxious when she first started. They gave her a lot of love and were so patient with her! They would console and, pick her up during drop off. She even had a potty regression when her baby brother was born but the teachers and principal continued to be loving and patient. Fast forward to a year later, W was a whole new person! She loved her teachers and group of best friends so much she didn't want to leave at the end of the day! She was so much more comfortable in her own skin and also became quite the artist because of all of the fun art work that they do! Plus, she became more confident because of the academic work and outdoor play! Unfortunately we moved a few months ago which meant that she had to leave Play N Learn. On her last day her teacher gave her a stuffed animal as a goodbye present. Even though W has a bunch of stuffed animals, everyday she sleeps with the one her old teacher from Play N Learn gave her! I really love this school, especially because of staffs here. All the teachers is very dedicated, kind, sweet, caring and patient. It seems they've never been tired of the kids from the beginning until end of day. They're always smiling, keeping their voices so soft and sweet. This is only for the communication over the phone part. After reading excellent reviews about this place, I called on a Friday afternoon, was told the Director was out and only she can answer the questions I had ( these were my ? - How old should a child be?, part time/ full time, fees). Called back on Monday AM, was told the Director was out and to call back the next day, again no one else was able to answer my routine questions. Called back the next day, same answer... so pretty much it went on for a whole week. Called the following Monday and this time when I was told to call back I asked them if there was anyone else to just answer basic questions. And that I have been calling everyday. It's understandable if the Director was sick but no one to cover for her?? She then gave me the answers. But said it was an estimate for the fees. Fair enough. If kids are not potty trained, they will be charged more. Makes sense. She asked to call back the next day which I did and was able to get a hold of the Director. She was not well and was courteous on yen phone, however right off the bat she said," we don't take kids that are not potty trained". This info was different from what the other person gave. Even if it was an estimate she said they take both. So I am wondering if all the kids that are enrolled there are potty trained ( Both 1 and 2). Just for the lack of proper communication and inconsistency in the enrollment criteria I am giving this place 3 stars. read more

My daughter started attending Play n Learn and felt right at home. With the help of the staff they made her feel welcome and loved. I love and admire the cleanliness and organizational all the rooms are including the outdoor play area. This school is awesome! Within our budget and I love how they update you on everything via app. My daughter has been attending her since she was 22 months old, she is now 2 years and 10 months. I decided to put her in because I noticed she was not getting the socializing skills at home only with grandma so I started her off with 2 days here and ultimately switch to full time because she loves it here so much. We had a fantastic experience at Play N Learn. Both of my kids started there at 18 months and attended all the way through Pre-K. The school has low turnover with teachers that are warm, caring and loving. Every week is themed and the kids have so much fun with different activities. The staff puts a lot of effort and creativity into the activities and events. The director, Ms. Yvonne is very responsive and is an expert at operations. My son started Play n' learn around 18 months during Covid and stayed up until 5 years old. We loved this school for him. When he started they were a big part of helping with his potty training since he was there most of the day, it made it easier for us to continue at home. He learned a lot throughout the years from numbers, shapes, letters, and even some basic Spanish. He loved all his teachers and enjoyed being there everyday. I always felt like he was safe and It was never a struggle at drop off with him. He would walk right in and was so excited fo see his friends and teachers. They celebrated every holiday and had fun events for the kids and families throughout the years. The best part for parents also was the app, communicating on there and seeing updates was a plus! When we started sending him here this year, at Play N Learn, my son kept telling me how he loves school. He's motivated to go to school and meet with his friends. We've seen improvements academically and his behavior has changed for the better. He's less shy, more active and always happy. He's gotten very talkative too telling us stories about his friends and school. We just love it! This school has amazing teachers who are always updating us. Great, responsive director who's always on top of things. All the teachers and staff know each and every kids' names and personalities. I don't know how they do it but they're all just wonderful! We love the Brightwheel app they use for parents. I just love seeing daily pictures of my son on what activities he's working on. This app is also great for sending us notices and messages. Compared to the other school, having this app has been the best communication tool. The facility and school grounds are nice, kid friendly, safe and clean. First time we toured the place, we already know this is the place for my son. I also like the fact that every parent has their own code to enter and sign in/out electronically. It tracks who picks up/drop off your kid. Safety was not an issue for me. I felt safer for my kid here than the swanky preschool in Willow Glen. My kid will be in kindergarten next year so I'm a little sad about it. But I'll enjoy seeing his growth both in learning and personality while he's in this school. THANK YOU to all the amazing teachers and staff for helping me shape my son into a wonderful kid. If you're wondering: I moved my son out of a preschool in Willow Glen because they have too many kids and my son is always getting hurt. I've always had problems with their accounting and their system is messy. They have one code to enter inside so basically anyone can go inside. Safety was a big concern for me. Also signing your kid in and out was done in their log sheet. Aside from the daily paper report we get from them, we don't get updates or pictures of my kid. Considering they're a bigger school and have plenty of staff besides being more expensive, they have an old system. So I'm glad he's not in that school anymore but I wish I took him out sooner. read more
