I followed the bang bang with the most meaty seafood shu mai ever. There is no question that the seafood shu mai are seafood, the shrimp are large, delicious and plentiful in the filling. Parking is pretty good that part of Parnell and so once we walked all the way into the depths of the building on the ground floor all was well. We were seated quickly, and had our waitress come with water and to answer any additional questions promptly. She recommended a number of sharing plates, which was fine by us as we thought that would probably be a good way to go anyway. We started off with some of the lotus chips which were awesome. We then received a selection of dishes including lamb short ribs, crispy pork ribs (a winner), supposedly very spicy bang bang chicken in lettuce cups (it wasn't that spicy but had a bit of kick and was delicious too), Crispy squid tentacles were also a popular choice. The kung pao soft shell crab was tasty but a bit small serving wise, and the dumplings all tasty too. The pork belly was average, nothing wrong with it but not a standout. My wife especially liked the slow cooked beef shin. Service was excellent, food was tasty and interesting, restaurant a little dimly lit but very cool nevertheless (perhaps better for dates than family dining but I'm being picky here). My only quibble is value, it's not bad value for money but it wasn't great value either. If it were slightly cheaper I wouldn't hesitate to score it 5/5. However, that is not a deterrent to me wanting to try the restaurant again, as the Rest of the package was all of a very high standard. We will be back for sure.

First off, hats off to the owners for doing such an impeccable job on the decor and design. From the intricate restaurant design, the lush comfy chairs, the menu layout, the mocktails, and even the rustic bathrooms were all very impressive. Now let's get down to the food. We started off with the shumai dumplings with peanut sauce. The skin of the shumai was so soft and thin which I truly appreciate because you can taste the stuffing better. The peanut sauce was nutty and savory and extremely addicting! Next we had the salt and pepper tofu with a vinegar sauce. The flavors here were a bit flat and needed more of a peppery taste but the presentation of this dish made it worth it. The chicken satay was super tender and juicy. The creamy sauce with the savory clear vinegar sauce worked really well together. The ribs had a yummy flavor but the meat could have been a bit softer. I recommend doing a broil for the ribs at the end so the sauce gets a nice caramel. To top it off we ended the night with the mango pudding. It was a hard decision but we liked the refreshing flavors. There was a lot of stuff going on in this dessert, but was still impressed with the details in textures. We hope to be back here one day!

I like it how the portions are designed to share and they come out the kitchen when done without seating on a counter to wait for other meal to be ready. Nice timing in serving: extra fresh!!! We went twice and definitely would go back.

Recommended food/drinks (literally everything we got!!) - Healing Power (Smashed avocado, poached egg, butternut squash, beetroot, zucchini, marinated feta, beetroot hummus, rye): DELICIOUS! The colors on this plate were so vibrant and not to mention the taste was amazing! I thought the beetroot hummus was a wonderful idea to make the plate colorful and still taste divine & healthy! The only downside was that the poached egg was unfortunately not runny - that was quite disappointing ... I did get the egg replaced and the chef was kind enough to give us an order of Hotteok (Korean pancakes - includes nuts and honey filling in the pancake) with delicious Ice cream!! I'd still recommend Healing Power - just hoping that the poached egg incident was just an off day! The dish itself was still divine! - Candy Shop Pancakes (buttermilk pancakes, mascarpone, Camper Coffee meringue, Nutella foam, candy floss, pistachio) + add streaky bacon: I must say, another beautiful dish! LOVED THE BACON! They were some real thick strips of bacon for sure! Not super crispy but the saltiness of the bacon helps to balance out the sweetness of everything else on the plate! I'd say definitely get this plate to share unless you really have a sweet tooth! - Latte & Coffee: they have Camper Coffee! I'd definitely recommend checking this place out if you haven't been before! The food, environment, service are all wonderful!

The service is quite slow - we were seated quickly, but then it took a long time between interactions. Slow to come for orders, slow to bring drinks, slow with food and then they seemed to leave us alone completely. They didn't clear plates, offer more drinks or anything. We had to flag them down to order a coffee. Having said all that, the menu is varied and food is nice. My companion had the Dumpling Soup and I had the Omelette. Both served nicely and very good. We had Polenta Chips also. Apart from the slowness, which was only an issue because we were hungry, the place is good. I would come back.

The delivery guy only delivered three of the nine dishes I ordered online, and I so I had to go and order the rest directly and collect myself. The Uber Delivery guy seemed to think nothing was wrong and I should call Uber if I have a complaint. Apparently Uber Eats gets orders botched now and then. Obviously I have issues with using Uber Eats again in the future. However, Asian Ruby's food, once unpacked and dished up to my family, was a true top class flavor experience. The pho soup was fresh and flavoursome, and other dishes we had were bursting with flavor as well. I really liked the Hanoi spring rolls, and the chicken and fennel salad. The prawn and pineapple fried rice was also popular. The portions were all very generous, noting the lemongrass chicken dish was a bit on the small side as a snack sized item. The pho soups are arguably enough for two people per order if you are thinking of ordering other dishes. It's all delicious, as you would expect of Vietnamese food, so be bold and have fun! So while I'm very grumpy with Uber eats and for a moment, Asian Ruby by proxy, I do want to record that the food was extremely tasty and that the duty manager at Asian Ruby did her very best to quickly solve the issue and get the rest of the order ready for me to collect. I fully intend to order more food from Asian Ruby in the future (or dine in at the rather pleasant premises that I visited to collect the balance of my order), but probably not through Uber Eats.....

I really enjoyed the salads/sides that came on each plate. It was nice to have some freshness with each bite. I really liked the Thai beef salad. It…read moreis situated on Fort Street, which is fast becoming a foodie mecca, with the likes of Ima Cuisine, Miann and Beirut and around the corner, my favourite ice creamery, Giapo. The first time I dined at Lucky Buddha, I didn't quite know what to expect, but after learning that the owners are Korean, the head chef is Filipino and that they are serving Asian fusion cuisine (namely Japanese, Korean, Thai and Filipino), I was really excited. I have since dined at Lucky Buddha four times, and each time has been a very memorable foodie experience. The food is fresh and flavourful, and the cocktail list and service is excellent. Below, I list my favourite dishes and drinks at Lucky Buddha. For food, I recommend the following: * Sriracha Pork Steamed Buns filled with tender pulled pork, fresh herbs and a cracker spicy peanut sauce. This is my favourite entree on the menu as it has that melt in your mouth wow factor. The bao comes in a pair, so I recommend sharing it with another dining companion, so you can share a few other entrees! * Wakame Salad with Cured Salmon served with creamy avocado, crispy nori, foam and puffed rice. This dish incorporates two of my favourite foods - salmon and avocado, so I knew it would be a winner. The puffed rice and crispy nori gives the dish great texture. * Soba Noodle Salad with Avocado and Teriyaki Chicken - this is the perfect lunch dish! It is another great combination (soba noodles, avocado and teriyaki chicken), is extremely filing (carb + protein x2) and will keep you going for the rest of the afternoon. My favourite part of this dish is the fried crunchy soba noodles on top! * Bibimbap with Korean mixed rice, seasonal vegetables, soy beef and gochujang. Bibimbap is a classic Korean dish and also one of my favourite meals, so I was super excited to try Lucky Buddha's version. I tried this dish only a few weeks' ago, and it is now my new favourite! I loved the presentation, with the brightly coloured veg, flavoursome beef and semi-raw egg. The fun part of Bibimbap is that you get to mix all the ingredients together! Just one sad note - no kimchi. For drinks, I highly recommend trying one of their cocktails. Their cocktail list changes frequently, some of which are only on the menu according to the season. I have so far enjoyed the Dark Stormy Asian cocktail with Mount Gay XO rum, ginger, herb bitters and citrus (a highlight the first time I dined at Lucky Buddha) and the Heavens Surprise cocktail with Herradura Plata tequila, watermelon, mint and elderflower - I just HAD to order this cocktail as it incorporated my favourite food and my favourite spirit! It was refreshing and delicious. Lucky Buddha also has a small wine and sake list and a range of Asian beers on offer, including a beer of the same name. For a non-alcoholic option, try one of their iced teas or house made sodas. If the above is not enough to tempt you, then another reason why you should dine at Lucky Buddha is because of their excellent service. Each time I have visited, staff are friendly and efficient, water glasses are always topped up and you don't have to wait long for your food. Overall, I LOVE LOVE LOVE Lucky Buddha. Thinking about it now, it definitely makes my top five list in Auckland, for its Asian Fusion menu (featuring Japanese, Thai, Filipino and Korean classics), refreshing cocktails and consistently good service. I highly recommend dining at Lucky Buddha the next time you're out!
