Platt college was by far the smartest decision I've made this past year. I remember coming into this college feeling desperate. Hoping to get guidance and great advice for this new chapter I was trying to start for my daughter and I. And, that's exactly what I got. Every single step of the way I had someone to guide me and support me. I was able to start a program that suited my interest and has given me so much motivation to move forward for my daughter and for myself. This year at platt has flown by and I complete the Ma program in just a matter of months and l couldn't be happier I also couldn't have asked for a better counselor Scarleth. She especially has become someone who I can go running to for any issue or guidance at school. She and Richard have made this experience so meaningful and easy to get through. It appears they do not accommodate single parents. I have been told by a few single parents they have to make the decisions on where you do your clinicals for respiratory therapy. Single parents are making huge sacrifices to go to school, so they do not have to depend on government assistance and then you gaslight them, making them feel bad because they have obligations. School is first, I'm sorry, children are first and always will be. Did you forget about DCFS, if you don't take care of your kids they will. We want parents to strive for success and not sabotage their career by adding another hurdle in the way of supporting their kids on their own. I read another negative yelp on respiratory therapy after I posted mine. My hope this helps single parents who are searching for a career about their decision to attend this school for respiratory therapist. I also hope it changes the direction and focus of the school to help support our future. This is a technical school to learn a trade and it can be costly to choose this route. Words cannot describe what a joke the respiratory therapy program at Platt College - Alhambra is. So I'll just post my story and what I found from my research. This is one of those reviews "if I can give negative stars", I would types. I've already emailed both Chris Becker and Megan Clifton earlier this year and no one has responded. I've listened and did everything Nicole and my instructors told me to do and still had a difficult time passing my boards and finding a job. I've got no response when emailing them for help, but they (Nicole and Platt college) expect me to respond to their surveys. It just felt like half of the cohort I was with were failing. I won't say what year I finished. I know I'll be gaslit. So onto what I discovered. I googled the pass rate for this school. Imagine my glee when I saw the abysmal performance. If you don't trust me, search "Respiratory Care Board pass rates" and you should eventually find a pdf document with the pass rates for this school and other campuses. I'll attach an image illustrating what I saw.  If you got 50-60% on a test, you would fail right? But these guys who were getting BELOW the state AVERAGE for the past few years get to keep their job. I like to remind you that I informed Chris Becker (the college president) of this. Basically about half of the students who attend this school for respiratory therapy end up becoming licensed respiratory practitioners. I will admit that I'm writing this with a little bit of bitterness. Imagine the staff with roughly a 50% pass rate telling you you're not knowledgeable enough. I honestly think this school is brought the state average down lol. In the end, numbers don't lie. read more

I am a successful graduate of the DMS program at Platt College, Alhambra, and I had a great experience from start to finish! I did a lot of research on all DMS programs/schools in the Los Angeles area and I found that Platt was the best one. Platt has the shortest program (18 months) and the best price (compared to other private schools), they have quick start times (as opposed to community colleges), day or night options for class times, great teachers and many other amazing things about this program and school! I had great teachers, made amazing friends, and learned so much! I really felt well prepared once I arrived at my externship site. Of course, like anything in life, you get out of it what you put into it. As long as you apply yourself and have a positive attitude, you'll do great and have a great experience! I recommend this school to anyone that wants to pursue their career in ultrasound. Wonderful teaching faculty and career center. I graduated last Feb. and was able to get a job right away. The school provides everything you need to succeed but of course you have to put in the effort to be successful. When our teachers saw classmates struggling, they took extra time to make sure they were caught up with the learning material. I didn't get this experience at a community college or university. I had to move back to my home state and advised them of this and that I wouldn't be able to attend their school after all. They were very insistent. So insistent in fact, that they have called me every week leaving no voicemail whatsoever. Allegedly they have campuses in Oklahoma that have been rebranded to another name since having an article come out about them costing people upwards of $30,000 in student loans and no diploma to show. I'm currently in enrollment and soon to fail one class that I'm almost passing but the director and instructor won't help me out! (this instructor wasn't helpful to the class (he/she) is teaching us. the whole class barely passed their exam! Keep this in mind, you need 75% to pass and I currently have 74.05%. and I messaged the instructor is there anything else I can do to bring my grade up? NO RESPOND! I'm almost close to my clinical, I'm so disappointed. I should've done my research with this college before I attend. Also, they would give you their opinion without you asking. if you are failing the director / instructor would tell you "you're not fit for the program, you should reconsider your career something else" sounds like they giving up on you FAST and want you to drop the program, less work for them to teach you am I right?. (sound like it) They don't bother to help/tutor you. I asked for a tutoring session and they give up on me within 5 mins. also when you ask for feedback they give you the wrong answer. BRUH! I wouldn't recommend people to go to this school they mess you over. They promise you a great education haha. I was in the VT program in 2021 - 2022, I was getting good grades A's and B's within that year. We had midterms and finals every 2 weeks with 5 subjects to cover within 1 week or 2. I was really proud of my self. I was having issues getting to school because I got into a car accident, I had a far drive. This 1 final exam I did not end up passing, I got a D. Immediately after not passing my exam, in class my teacher basically kicked me out of school. Was told I can't go there no more because of that Grade on my exam. My views on college right after was completely changed. I thought we had to get some sort of school probation or get talked to or at least get help. I haven't been since to school since, trying to pursue better now without school, this school traumatized me. I was in the Vocational nursing program last year and it was a total disaster! Nothing was ever organized. Since the beginning they didn't have enough professors. The DON would have to teach but when she would teach or try to teach she was too distracted with the cohort ahead of us. They ended up firing her and brought in a new DON. At first the DON Kiesha was head strong but then she started to stress and went downhill. She said her main thing was to prepare us to be nurses and said she would never send an unprepared nurse into the field and guess what, no one was prepared. She became too lenient and everyone was walking all over her. This program is based on hours and I can guarantee NO one in my cohort completed the required hours! The professors would tell us to put a certain time on our time cards/roaster to make it look like we completed the hours but they would always let us leave way earlier because they had nothing for us to do especially at clinics. Vantrees was the biggest hater! She literally treated the students like they were kindergartners. She would go into the stall and watch you pee if she could. 0/10 Keisha (DON) looked like she honestly hated everyone 5/10 Lovingfloss didn't know what she was doing most of the time but she was cool sometimes 7/10 Mabel is the sweetest person you'll ever meet. She has lots of stories but she's super knowledgeable and you can tell she loves what she does 10/10, but they let her go. My Experience At Platt Was Great. Learn as Much Respiratory Stuff in a Short 18 month span. The Classrooms Rooms we're very organized and Clean. The Professor's were Very knowledgeable and Very helpful. The only Thing that I Have to say I give it a thumbs down is The clinical Sites We Were sent to. For the most part, I'm pretty happy with this school. I feel as though anyone who is serious about becoming an RT will likely succeed with this program as long as you're willing to put your education first and reach out for help whenever you need it. The professors are willing to help out if you're struggling to understand any concepts. RT is not easy! I am getting ready to graduate from Platt College Alhambra with an Associates Degree in Respiratory Therapy. It has been a challenging 18 months but I have also gained so much. The structure of the program as made this accelerated program doable. The Professors are fountains of knowledge, the Program Directors have been beyond helpful, and the clinical Instructors have also been an enormous help. Whenever I have had any trouble or concerns, there is always someone there to help. They do more than just their job, they make sure we know and understand the information so that we can be the best we can be. Respiratory Therapist isn't for just anyone but in this program, I have gained the knowledge and confidence I need. If anyone reading this is thinking about RT or Platt College, JUST DO IT. The program itself was extremely helpful. Vet tech alt route Is probably one of the most compatible programs for those in the veterinary field that are looking to expand their education that have been working for a while and have the desire to get licensed. I felt my professors did everything in their power to prepare us and I'm so glad for the lessons I learned. That being said once you graduate unfortunately it feels like you don't get much help as far as sending things to the proper testing administration boards as well as your state boards. Platt college was definitely an experience I won't forget anytime soon. Attending the respiratory therapy program pushed me to my limits and made me realize the potential I truly have. In the 18 months that I was a part of the program, not once did I ever feel as if I was on my own. The staff and cohort I met along this program was such a dynamic group that wanted to see each other succeed. Not only were the instructors making sure that we were on top of our work but also the administrative staff as well. They really want to see you achieve your goal here in the Respiratory Therapy department. From the time I start til the end and speaking from my own experience, I can honestly say I came, I obtain the knowledge, and the opportunities were endless. Of course as a student you have to put your effort otherwise no one will take you seriously. My instructors, hands down. From Dr. Rocha, Dr. David, to my phenomenal MA instructor Ms. C (Carmen). She was and still devoted to her students and without her motivation and her genuine love for her students and education I would have not gone this far. Her impact on my education has followed me through the years as a person and in my career. She had me do my externship in a cardiovascular clinic which later on became my full time job. Throughout the year I carried on the knowledge I obtained at Platt to many different facilities, clinics, and hospitals. And today I am proud to say that I have officially established my self at CEDARS SINAI. This school is so disorganized. When I enrolled they gave me all the wrong information. They said it would be Monday-Friday ending at 1pm sometimes 4. All that went out the door. Of course I didn't find out until later. They can't even communicate and get that part straight. That's very important information. I finished the LVN program with so many struggles and frustrations. The courses were not the issue. It was the way they ran things. They're so last minute on EVERYTHING. We'd get texts at 12am, 5am to notify us about a change. They had such a hard time giving us a schedule ahead of time. Again, always last minute. Students worked and they did not have any consideration for them. If our term started on a Monday, the schedule would be sent to us that Sunday. And never was it followed by them. They just put one together to shut us up. They always had changes. It was frustrating. They messed up on one of the terms and overwhelmed us with hours to make up. 12 hour shifts Mondays and Thursdays. And clinicals on Wednesdays or Fridays, weekends. And that was another thing. When I enrolled they told me clinicals were only two days out of the week. No weekends. All they would say is "I know, I know." It was horrible. Even our last term, Mrs VanTreese miscalculated our hours. Adding more than we needed. Always being sneaky. She lied to students about County requiring the Covid shots. When a student mentioned this to Ms Gabadon from County LAC USC she told them that as long as they were being tested it'd be ok. No requirement needed at that time. But VanTreese insisted. That was sneaky. She knew we didn't have to get the shot at that time. We couldn't trust anything they said or did. It seemed they were always hiding things from us. Overheard staff saying how they bad they felt for us because they didn't think we were going to make it. But it was because of their poor teaching skills. The paperwork for fingerprinting and NCLEX should have been done before we graduated. Again, so unorganized. Shot out to Luz! Once they gave her the responsibility she was on it! And as for the teachers, VanTreese made our life miserable. While we were in clinicals followed student to the restroom and waited outside the door for them until they were done. Ms Lovingfoss does not teach at all! She's just there. I asked her a simple question about a medication for hypertension and she told me to "Google it." It wasn't an assignment it was just a question I had for her since she was an experienced RN. Always talking about her childhood trauma. I wouldn't mind if she just taught us something. Me Bochko had a lot of knowledge in her field of nursing, and she really cared about her students. My best advice to anyone who is thinking of going to Platt College in Alhambra would be to keep looking. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL. It was torture and seemed like it would never end.
