At my externship site at Cedars-Sinai
    Gen B.

I am a successful graduate of the DMS program at Platt College, Alhambra, and I had a great experience from start to finish! I did a lot of research on all DMS programs/schools in the Los Angeles area and I found that Platt was the best one. Platt has the shortest program (18 months) and the best price (compared to other private schools), they have quick start times (as opposed to community colleges), day or night options for class times, great teachers and many other amazing things about this program and school! I had great teachers, made amazing friends, and learned so much! I really felt well prepared once I arrived at my externship site. Of course, like anything in life, you get out of it what you put into it. As long as you apply yourself and have a positive attitude, you'll do great and have a great experience! Also, Delfina (admissions) is the best!!! She has been so kind, accommodating, helpful and has just gone above and beyond to make my experience at Platt amazing!!! Also, my externship site was at Cedars-Sinai (my dream)!!! I love Platt college and highly recommend this school and program!!!

    Future RTs in the making!

So my update on Platt College Alhambra, I'm 2 weeks away from graduation and I must say it was a GREAT experience. From meeting new people making new friends to building memories. It wasn't easy this las 18 months but with the good help of my teachers Mr.Morales,Mr. Tsang,Mr. Hummel,Ms.Valerio and of course Ms. Mczeal it was possible to stay on track. They work with you in every way to help you succeed. I'm looking forward to The Respiratory Board Exam, passing and working in this so rewarding career.

Platt college was by far the smartest decision I've made this past year. I remember coming into this college feeling desperate. Hoping to get guidance and great advice for this new chapter I was trying to start for my daughter and I. And, that's exactly what I got. Every single step of the way I had someone to guide me and support me. I was able to start a program that suited my interest and has given me so much motivation to move forward for my daughter and for myself. This year at platt has flown by and I complete the Ma program in just a matter of months and l couldn't be happier I also couldn't have asked for a better counselor Scarleth. She especially has become someone who I can go running to for any issue or guidance at school. She and Richard have made this experience so meaningful and easy to get through. All in all platt is my safe place and if you're looking for guidance and a strong push to move forward THIS IS THE PLACE.

Some of the instructors were harsh graders but then didn't really teach. The sample work and their lectures were often full of grammar errors. Some of the assignments I submitted that I was really proud of got scored a zero because the professor thought it was AI. They also kept adding on requirements to my degree that were ridiculous. The requirements they have for degrees is honestly insane. You have to jump through hoops to find courses that meet a variety of requirements, mostly related to race and diversity. If you don't want to spend a lot of money and you are looking to learn a lot about racism and diversity and do a lot of coursework in that field, then this might be the place for you. If you are looking to actually learn something about your field, you should probably look elsewhere. There is a reason this school is as cheap as it is. Also, once you start the term they make it nearly impossible to withdraw, regardless of your circumstances. And the financial aid office is impossible to get ahold of. You can request financial aid advising, but in my whole time there, they never once responded to those requests. Meanwhile, they only release appointments at random, unspecified times once a week and it's nearly impossible to get one. So, you're pretty much on your own figuring out financial aid. After experiencing this school, I'm really embarrassed I even picked it in the first place.

For me the major con is it's a bit of a drive but for those who live closer to this campus location it would not be an issue at all. The second con is due to it being so small (it's literally just one large building 2 floors) in comparison to the main PCC campus and extension campus on Foothill in Pasadena not as many courses are offered. Pros are FREE, yes I said it FREE parking. Both semesters I have taken classes here there has never been an issue finding parking in the medium sized lot. There are signs that state there is a nearby lot with shuttle service accommodation if the main one becomes full. I have yet to utilize the second lot. Another plus is they do have some counseling services available, as well as a student services center with a reasonable study space and microwaves available. I have only take classes winter and summer session here so cannot speak in Regards of other devices that may be offered during the full fall and spring terms. A neat thing that I saw upon entering the campus was a small table set up with a keurig coffee maker with kpods. People are welcomed to bring there own cup to use and cookies are sometimes put out for students as well. There is also a basket for food joint coupons so that you can add or take if needed. This is free and I thought it was very thoughtful.

The following is derived from my experience as a student at CIAM…read more Perspectives from my experience.... If you are looking for an MBA program, choose wisely, but first consider your priorities. CIAM is a school focused more on writing and searching google images than on real practical business management skills. A couple of the professors are engaged, knowledgeable, and motivated to teach the students whereas most of the others are there to boast and compete with the students. Very few of the professors have actual business experience or truly understand how to launch or manage a business. Yet, they condescend to the students as if they are world renown lecturers unlike larger professional schools where the experience from the student population adds to the lessons. Some students are permitted to openly plagiarize without punishment as the rules for some are not the rules for others. Yes, there are no tests, but there are numerous papers. The writing and research is helpful but many of those grading have a weak knowledge of writing skills hence offer poor or incorrect feedback. The presentation practice is also useful, but again, the feedback from some of the professors is second rate and unprofessional. Additionally, if a professor asks you to complete extra credit work for a higher grade, get it in writing. Professors (and the school) make promises but rarely stand by them. They will ask you to cover for nonperforming students then give all students the same grade, including the nonperformer. If you enjoy doing the work for other students and the professors without due credit, then CIAM is for you. Some students are allowed to complete the program without ever completing the work, while others are penalized because the professor did not like their fashion taste or the professor was intellectually challenged by the student. And, beware if you require accommodations for a disability. One student was refused an accommodation after surgery. The choice was to "do like everyone else" or "receive a '0'". The projects are interesting for the first class or two, but then they become monotonous and not stimulating. The companies are often of the same type; the requirement from the professor the same; and the motivated students have to do the work for the same under-achievers. Almost as if the motivated students are earning multiple diplomas, but with different names. The textbooks are in sad disrepair. Hobbled with a multitude of errors, students are chastised for not using the outdated resources, even though many were no longer posted on the internet. Not exactly state-of-the-art, also the text was of low quality. The Founder and President is seriously dated. He has no concept about the job market today or the demands of potential employers with the internet and legalities larger companies prefer to follow, such as filling out applications online prior to interviews. His advise "refuse to". Sure he "wrote 100 books", but most of them were self-published. Not exactly peer-reviewed journal articles. He grades projects not on the quality of research and writing, but by the number of pages and weight of the paper. He may have a great pedigree, but the work does not demonstrate the supposed skills from such fabulous schools. Again, ask yourself your motivation for an MBA. If it is to find a better job then guess again. The extent of the school's career services is to post a student's resume on Monster: an inept effort for a Masters degree graduate.
