Platt college was by far the smartest decision I've made this past year. I remember coming into…read morethis college feeling desperate. Hoping to get guidance and great advice for this new chapter I was trying to start for my daughter and I. And, that's exactly what I got. Every single step of the way I had someone to guide me and support me. I was able to start a program that suited my interest and has given me so much motivation to move forward for my daughter and for myself. This year at platt has flown by and I complete the Ma program in just a matter of months and l couldn't be happier I also couldn't have asked for a better counselor Scarleth. She especially has become someone who I can go running to for any issue or guidance at school. She and Richard have made this experience so meaningful and easy to get through. All in all platt is my safe place and if you're looking for guidance and a strong push to move forward THIS IS THE PLACE.

Single parents are making huge sacrifices to go to school, so they do not have to depend on government assistance and then you gaslight them, making them feel bad because they have obligations. School is first, I'm sorry, children are first and always will be. Did you forget about DCFS, if you don't take care of your kids they will. We want parents to strive for success and not sabotage their career by adding another hurdle in the way of supporting their kids on their own. I read another negative yelp on respiratory therapy after I posted mine. My hope this helps single parents who are searching for a career about their decision to attend this school for respiratory therapist. I also hope it changes the direction and focus of the school to help support our future. This is a technical school to learn a trade and it can be costly to choose this route. Let's support our future by talking to them, not making them feel bad because they have kids or other responsibilities with them, instead let's encourage, support and provide empathy to help them complete their desire to flourish as a respiratory therapist.

Transferred here during the lingering effects of the pandemic. (Fall 2021) My first year was fully…read moreremote and 2nd year was starting to go back in-person. Graduated during Summer 2023. Parking was $220 + Sales Tax during Fall/Spring semesters. Winter/Summer are a bit cheaper. As a business major, professors here in my experience weren't the best. Rarely you'll get a highly knowledgeable professor with legit experience in the field you're studying in. Some professors just make me wonder how in the world they get to teach in the first place. For example, we had an HR professor making us type 10 page essays every week with no substance to it. Overall: I did enjoy my experience here. I did what I can in those 2 years, 1 year being remote. Worked here as a SA. There's definitely a lot of improvements needed to be made. From school initiatives, in-house internships, old buildings that need to be replaced, library study room filled with mold, administration-student relationships etc. Students should be more engaging here and I just didn't get the vibe here in most classes. My recommendation if you're considering going here is to do as much research as you can and try your best to foster self-initiatives and join clubs or work on campus. Key Takeaways: - CSULA is a commuter school so expect many students to not being sociable or engaging. Many friends I've talked to who went here agreed on the same thing. - Lots of politics - CSULA is conveniently located by the I-710 and I-10 freeways. - Food Court consist of Fast Food (El Pollo Loco, Carl's Jr., Panda Express etc) (Not many food choices near by campus) - Old buildings. Some with mold on them or elevators not working. - WiFi Connection in Salazar Hall or King Hall may be weak for some.

For me the major con is it's a bit of a drive but for those who live closer to this campus location it would not be an issue at all. The second con is due to it being so small (it's literally just one large building 2 floors) in comparison to the main PCC campus and extension campus on Foothill in Pasadena not as many courses are offered. Pros are FREE, yes I said it FREE parking. Both semesters I have taken classes here there has never been an issue finding parking in the medium sized lot. There are signs that state there is a nearby lot with shuttle service accommodation if the main one becomes full. I have yet to utilize the second lot. Another plus is they do have some counseling services available, as well as a student services center with a reasonable study space and microwaves available. I have only take classes winter and summer session here so cannot speak in Regards of other devices that may be offered during the full fall and spring terms. A neat thing that I saw upon entering the campus was a small table set up with a keurig coffee maker with kpods. People are welcomed to bring there own cup to use and cookies are sometimes put out for students as well. There is also a basket for food joint coupons so that you can add or take if needed. This is free and I thought it was very thoughtful.

I prefer this campus over the PCC main campus. The counseling department gives me mixed feelings because some counselors barely helped, and others…read morewere definitely more knowledgeable. While it's great that they let you setup online appointments, I had difficulties over Zoom. And they should let you see which departments the counselors are for, so they can guide you better. One of them went over the petitioning for a degree/transfer process. I didn't know I was that close to finishing another one, but I guess most of my credits from a different community college are accepted here. However, the process is tedious and should be automated. The last counselor I spoke to seemed lazy and told me I should just do all the research myself, so it was a complete waste of time...like what was the point of the appointment, if she didn't want to help look into a program I was interested in? The financial aid office was super unhelpful with one experience I had, and I spent 20-ish minutes going back and forth with a male employee who did not tell me anything I did not already know. He was talking in circles, and I actually found the answers I wanted online myself. Teacher-wise, I feel like you need to read ratemyprofessor. But also, you won't know until you read their syllabus. If you plan to take LOG 110, avoid VT. She never contributed once to any discussion, never gave insightful advice. Everything was copy and pasted, for the homework and responses to grading. She doesn't check Turnitin percentages, so you might get dinged for using the textbook. It took her a month to grade assignments, and actually, the class started 2 days late. She claimed she was locked out of Canvas for 10 days, but we never received an extension for that or when the system was hacked and offline. Also, over 2 months later, and she had still not graded my final scores. Honestly, I feel the dean should look into this low-effort teacher because I can't refer to that person as a professor. Plus, I didn't like how another teacher (MY) is forcing students to record videos, as if it were a speech class. A lot of them seem uptight and only really there for a paycheck. She also didn't respond to e-mails initially, and was rude about a submission question I asked. Canvas sucks. If you plan to take online classes, beware of the ones that use Honorlock and require you to pay for software, that connect to Canvas. I believe the library has most textbooks, but reserve them in advance because you can only check them out for so long. So far, I haven't like most classes because of how poor the content is. All of the PowerPoints I have read were bare bones, bare minimum, and didn't offer anything the textbook didn't. A lot of teachers also just add videos, which is fine, but it's a cop-out. But, I feel like they should include their own lecture material and share what they learned over the years. The one class that I am somewhat okay with is English C1001, but a lot of classes tend to have things due on Mondays, Wednesdays, and a weekend day. The quizzes don't count as points for each question, like most other classes. But, for every essay, of which we have four, Curington requires an outline, prewrites, research/lab assignments, and a first draft. The peer outlines are okay, if the other classmate cares enough to try. He leaves feedback for most assignments, which I appreciate. I have yet to visit the campus, but I look forward to visiting the observatory on a Friday evening. (Parking is free in LOT C.) I thought I would like RHC, but I might switch schools, if I don't end up liking the logistics management program.

The following is derived from my experience as a student at CIAM…read more Perspectives from my experience.... If you are looking for an MBA program, choose wisely, but first consider your priorities. CIAM is a school focused more on writing and searching google images than on real practical business management skills. A couple of the professors are engaged, knowledgeable, and motivated to teach the students whereas most of the others are there to boast and compete with the students. Very few of the professors have actual business experience or truly understand how to launch or manage a business. Yet, they condescend to the students as if they are world renown lecturers unlike larger professional schools where the experience from the student population adds to the lessons. Some students are permitted to openly plagiarize without punishment as the rules for some are not the rules for others. Yes, there are no tests, but there are numerous papers. The writing and research is helpful but many of those grading have a weak knowledge of writing skills hence offer poor or incorrect feedback. The presentation practice is also useful, but again, the feedback from some of the professors is second rate and unprofessional. Additionally, if a professor asks you to complete extra credit work for a higher grade, get it in writing. Professors (and the school) make promises but rarely stand by them. They will ask you to cover for nonperforming students then give all students the same grade, including the nonperformer. If you enjoy doing the work for other students and the professors without due credit, then CIAM is for you. Some students are allowed to complete the program without ever completing the work, while others are penalized because the professor did not like their fashion taste or the professor was intellectually challenged by the student. And, beware if you require accommodations for a disability. One student was refused an accommodation after surgery. The choice was to "do like everyone else" or "receive a '0'". The projects are interesting for the first class or two, but then they become monotonous and not stimulating. The companies are often of the same type; the requirement from the professor the same; and the motivated students have to do the work for the same under-achievers. Almost as if the motivated students are earning multiple diplomas, but with different names. The textbooks are in sad disrepair. Hobbled with a multitude of errors, students are chastised for not using the outdated resources, even though many were no longer posted on the internet. Not exactly state-of-the-art, also the text was of low quality. The Founder and President is seriously dated. He has no concept about the job market today or the demands of potential employers with the internet and legalities larger companies prefer to follow, such as filling out applications online prior to interviews. His advise "refuse to". Sure he "wrote 100 books", but most of them were self-published. Not exactly peer-reviewed journal articles. He grades projects not on the quality of research and writing, but by the number of pages and weight of the paper. He may have a great pedigree, but the work does not demonstrate the supposed skills from such fabulous schools. Again, ask yourself your motivation for an MBA. If it is to find a better job then guess again. The extent of the school's career services is to post a student's resume on Monster: an inept effort for a Masters degree graduate.
