We've been bringing our son, to Blake swim school for almost a year, and until now we had a good experience. We were happy enough to refer several friends because we believed in the program. Unfortunately, our experience yesterday, Friday 7/31 completely changed my opinion. When we arrived for Blake's regular swim lesson yesterday, we were told that his time slot had been given to another child. No one called, emailed, or texted us to let us know. We showed up expecting his usual lesson only to find out that his spot was gone. When I asked why, I was told that my lesson package had expired. I had purchased a 20-lesson package, and I was never verbally informed that it expired after six months. The staff member simply said, "It's on the paperwork. You should have read it." I was never given that paper when I paired for that 20 lessons package. I'm not upset that the lessons expired, I understand businesses have policies. What upset me was that they took away my child's regular time slot without any notice or courtesy call. A simple phone call or email would have prevented us from wasting a trip and would have given us the opportunity to renew before losing our spot. The response I received made the situation even worse. I was told, "We're very busy. That's just how it works if you don't pay." After being a loyal customer for almost a year and referring multiple families, that level of customer service was incredibly disappointing. This experience made me feel like existing customers are no longer valued now that the school has grown. Policies are one thing, but treating customers with respect and communicating important changes should be a basic expectation. Sadly, because of how this situation was handled, I'll be taking my business elsewhere. I hope the school improves its communication and customer service so other families don't have the same experience. UPDATE: Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate that the two expired lessons were restored. However, my concerns go beyond the lessons themselves. The app logged me out, my password no longer worked, and there was no option to reset it on my own. In the past, the previous staff member was always patient, helpful, and willing to assist with password issues. Unfortunately, my recent experience was completely different. The current staff member was rude and unprofessional. She demanded my phone and repeatedly raised her voice, saying three times that she wanted to see my password. She appeared frustrated by my questions instead of trying to help resolve the issue. I also still have concerns about the lesson expiration policy. I purchased a 20-lesson package, yet all 20 lessons expired after only six months. If the policy is that 10 lessons expire after six months, it doesn't make sense that a 20-lesson package would have the same six-month expiration period. I would appreciate a clear explanation of how that policy works. However, the school thinks it's perfectly acceptable to text you 2 hours before class to cancel on you without any advanced notice. The respect for time only goes one way here. 2) Constant, Questionable Cancellations: We have two kids enrolled with two different unfixed coaches. Yet, we have had classes canceled multiple times with the generic excuse that the "coach is sick." It is statistically impossible for two different coaches to be sick at the same exact time 4x in a row. On one occasion, we drove all the way there and showed up on time, only for the front desk to bluntly tell us, "We need to cancel your class today," with zero explanation. When we confronted the administration, they finally admitted they were just understaffed and they didn't update that on the system. So for the same time-slot, they only have one coach available for my 2 kids. Mind you, I paid 2 different packages for my 2 kids. They won't even let you share a package between siblings. 3) A Nightmare for Working Parents: so far, they have done nothing to fix their staffing problems, and every other week we receive yet another last-minute cancellation notice. As working parents, this constant instability completely throws off our schedules. Trying to constantly rearrange work and family logistics around their unreliability is exhausting. We paid in advance for these classes, but we can't even get them scheduled because the school is so unreliable with their staff team. To make matters worse, they have also increased their prices. For the terrible level of service and constant headaches they provide, their new rates are a complete joke. To be fair, we would only recommend this place because our coaches are nice. read more

My neighbor introduced me to this school. My daughter had 15 lessons from Waterworks Pasadena, and she can barely float. After so much time and money spent there with little result, I was desperate to try a different school. I was surprised that even after one lesson, my daughter was able to learn basic moves and not just the starfish floating position in every lessons like she had before. The instructors here are extremely dedicated, friendly, approachable! Her instructor is Benjamin, and we like him a lot! My daughter is on the shy side and he's able to make her feel comfortable and he is excellent with kids! There's one receptionist, Sela. Very friendly and accommodating. She will work with you to help you with your scheduling or any conflicts. She's sweet. We are currently mid-way through our second package, and she's doing so well! This definitely over exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend this location to anyone! read more

The lessons, when they do happen, have been amazing. My child improves by leaps and bounds with every lesson. However, it is such a struggle to get a lesson in every week. Since we started, we've received notifications that her lessons have been cancelled every single week. One thing that doesn't make sense to me is the way packages are handled. We purchased a 10-class package to secure a fixed coach. Before an out-of-country trip, I purchased 5 additional classes, fully intending to continue lessons afterward. Instead of viewing this as 15 total classes, the school treated the extra 5 separately and assigned different coaches. This might not be a problem if instructors kept detailed notes on student progress, but that doesn't seem to be happening. Every time my 5-year-old gets a new instructor, they teach him as if it's his first day. At his age, he can't accurately explain what skills he's already learned. Unfortunately, there have also been multiple scheduling mistakes: 1. Our regular coach was sick, so we were reassigned. I was told via text that the lesson would be from 5:30 to 6:00 PM. I reminded them our lessons are 45 minutes, and they replied, "Oh okay, until 6:15 PM then." The next day, after only 30 minutes, the coach was ending the lesson. I had to show the text messages as proof that we were scheduled for 45 minutes. 2. I received a call regarding a "no-show" for a class I had actually rescheduled two weeks earlier. The front desk manager even showed me the change in their computer system. Then when I arrived for the rescheduled date, no coach had been assigned and she had to call to find someone. Our lesson started about 15 minutes late. 3. Most recently, I arrived expecting my child's regular coach. The coach told me he wasn't on her schedule. When I checked with the front desk, I was told he had been assigned to another coach. That would have been fine if I had been informed ahead of time. Instead, the lesson had been moved to a later time without any notification. To make matters worse, I then had to verify the remaining classes because I was told I had already used all five. After checking, they realized I was correct and still had classes remaining. At that point, I was honestly just smiling out of frustration. I want to continue bringing my son here because the coaches have been great, but the scheduling and communication need significant improvement. Parents shouldn't have to constantly double- and triple-check every lesson to make sure it was scheduled correctly. Private one-on-one swim lessons are not cheap, and families deserve a level of organization and communication that matches what they're paying for. I sincerely hope management takes this feedback constructively because both the instructors and the families deserve a system that works better. The coaches are doing their part--now the scheduling and communication need to catch up. read more

Well. I want to love Blake due to location but no, I do not. This place is expensive, unprofessional, and rude. Simply, the front desk is rude, unprofessional, and has no customer service. For blake, If you want a fixed coach, it costs you $80 for 45m. Unfixed coach costs way less but you will have inconsistent coach. That means, there will always be a restart. New coach simply means he/she will take some time to study and know where your child is at. Essentially, you paid for them to assess the child's skills but not making steady progress. The most silly thing is if your child wakes up in the morning, feeling sick, you cannot cancel the session (be ready to throw away that money for that session). They have a policy that you need to make a cancelation 24 hours in advance. You can try to text, email, or call them at 6am or throughout the day to ask for cancelation. No response because I guess they do not work yet. And no, they give you no mercy. They straight up tell you that it is your fault for not canceling it 24 hours in advance. Well, parents, you must know in advance that your kids will feel sick. BUT if their coach is sick and they cant find anyone to cover, they can inform you less than 30 minutes before the session starts. Even this coach has been absence for the past three consecutive weeks already. With the combination of teacher's inconsistency and thier 24 hours cancelations (with no exception), it costs you a lot. Students do not make much progress unless you are a lucky one and get to be with a coach who consistently shows up. I do not recommend this place. I've tried it at Monrovia. I've tired it here at Rosemead. They are unprofessional and inconsiderate. Oh, their bathrooms are not clean. Two times I went in, there were urination on the seat and in the bowl. Pretty gross. There are many areas they can improve but they are not willing to listen for feedbacks. I've tired. So, I leave it as it is. God bless those who has good experiences with them.
