We started here in January and my girls have tried all the instructors at the Monrovia location, and I can say in confidence that the male instructors here on Thursdays are so amazing. You can pay extra to stick with one, but my girls love them all! The pool is indoors, warm, and the instructors are super patient. They know how to push the kids to improve, yet still be kind at the same time. We took a few classes at Waterworks before and they couldn't swim independently whatsoever. However, after just 3 classes here, my girls are swimming with such confidence! Biggest, biggest downside (for the 1 star down) is the admin side. The main girl in the front is so disorganized. We were told we could use one account for both kids (not true), and scheduling gets mixed up. Had to go back and forth to get even one make-up class because we were not informed to download their app. I had the biggest headache communicating with her by phone and text. Nevertheless, still highly recommend for beginners... just make sure to download their app and stay on top of your account! read more

After struggling to communicate with the admin to schedule and constantly rotating coaches, we splurged on the GOLD package to guarantee the same instructor every lesson. Classes are cheaper if purchased in bulk or if you share the lesson with another student but that would mean slower progress. The location inside this bustling plaza is convenient because we can reward her with Jamba Juice after or run errands at the market or grab a quick bite at a variety of fast casual places. We had the same frustrating experience as many other parents. When we first signed up, we were told that if we paid for private 1-on-1 lessons, we could pick our coach. That was the only reason we agreed to enroll. Toward the end of our first set of classes, they asked if we wanted to renew to keep the same coach. We never signed a new contract--we just paid through Zelle (they don't accept credit cards, which feels intentional so parents can't dispute charges). Not long after renewing, our coach was suddenly switched. The first time, we asked for advance notice if a coach couldn't make it. But after a few more classes, we were informed that our coach had been permanently reassigned to another student at the same time slot. We were shocked--this is not what we agreed to. When we questioned it, we were told the school had "final say" in assigning coaches and that parents have no control. When I asked to see the contract I signed, it said nothing about "unfixed coaches." Instead, they sent me a different version--one I never signed--that suddenly included "unfixed coach" language. They also told me that if I wanted to guarantee a coach, I should have signed up for something called the Golden Private Lesson. This was the first time we had ever heard of that. It feels like they change policies and terms without ever informing parents. In fact, according to the contract I did sign, coach changes should only occur for personal reasons related to the coach. Replacing our coach just to give them to another student does not qualify. In our view, this is a breach of contract. As paying clients, we should receive at least reasonable notice of coaching changes as a matter of basic professionalism. On top of all this, my daughter has been attending for quite some time and still hasn't learned to swim--which is why we gave them another chance in the first place. We've also noticed that coaches are scheduled back-to-back with no breaks, and some don't pay attention to their students. When I brought this up, the school's response was that I should "let them know" if a coach wasn't doing their job. That is unacceptable--it should not be the parents' responsibility to monitor their staff. Parents, please be very careful when signing anything here and read the fine print. Their contract even includes a clause saying you "cannot sue them in court," which feels incredibly shady and deceptive. We believe this business model is unfair and misleading. Consumers have rights under California law to pursue remedies for deceptive practices and breach of contract. We are considering filing complaints with consumer protection agencies and may pursue recourse through small claims court if necessary. read more

1. Lack of Integrity There's a sign on the classroom door stating that if you refer one student, you receive one free class after the student signs up. I referred two children who both signed up and paid separate registration and class fees. However, when I asked the front desk about the referral rewards, I was told I could only receive one free class because both kids were from the same family. That's not what the sign says. Each child paid separately, so I should have received two free classes. This felt misleading and unfair. 2. Disrespectful Behavior Before class, I bought a Jamba Juice for my kids, but they didn't get a chance to drink it before entering. After class, while I was helping them shower and change, I left the drink and our belongings on the bench. There were only 3 students in the store, and the front desk clearly saw that I hadn't left. Still, she threw the drink away without asking me. It cost $11.50 and my kids didn't even get to enjoy it. This was very disrespectful and unnecessary. The staff needs better training in both communication and customer service. read more

I'm very disappointed with this swim school and strongly do not recommend it. The management is unhelpful, inflexible, and unprofessional. Nobody ever answers the phone, and when you do reach someone, they just tell you to email instead. After I emailed and received confirmation for a schedule change, the class time still didn't change. Even though this was clearly their fault, they refused to refund the missed class. The pool is overcrowded with too many students and coaches, which is unsafe. Their 24-hour cancellation policy is ridiculous -- if your child wakes up sick, you lose the class or feel pressured to send them anyway. My son has gotten sick several times after attending, and few time students even vomited in the pool, forcing them to clean it and end class early. They don't care about you kiddos and the school only focuses on making money, not caring for families or children's safety. I even stayed on standby hoping another student might cancel so my son could attend an important appointment, but the manager still refused to help -- even though the coach was just sitting there playing on their phone. Communication is confusing, the system is disorganized, and no one takes responsibility for mistakes. To make things worse, nobody seems to take the schedule seriously -- classes are inconsistent, communication is poor, and parents are left frustrated. When I tried to escalate my concerns, the manager refused to give any contact for upper management and just told me to email a generic address. This school is unsafe, poorly managed, and clearly does not care about children or families. Save your time and money -- go somewhere else. read more

Came with my 5 years old for a trial swimming. This place Is on the corner of a shopping place, and the pool is indoor and heated. For the time being I am here watching my kids trial lesson, there are a few other coaches, and they seem very knowledgeable on teaching first timer swimmers. And they are quite friendly too. I have been looking for a good coach for my daughter for quite some time. My daughter started her swimming class since she was four with two other swim school. She is very afraid of water and after more than 20 1:1 classes , other coaches are not able to get her head inside the water and blow bubble. We learned about blake school from my friend and give it a try. Coach Winnie is able to have my daughter do backstroke and dive inside the water in just less than 6 lessons! She is very patient and good at handling children fear with water. I am so glad to find her. Thank you so much Coach Winnie. read more

Girl at the front desk doesn't know how to manage scheduling or communication with coaches. From my experience this business only cares about making money and isn't willing to hire coaches or staff who are professional. They never pick up their phone or respond to emails. I saw them reply to another review complaining about this and they said that it was because they were busy. I've been in person during several lessons and they're always just sitting there playing with their phone. Are they busy teaching swim lessons via a Zoom call or something? Pick up the phone or return the call if you can't pick up right away. If you have time to respond to negative Yelp reviews, you can make time to pick up the phone every now and then. read more
