This school has been really great for me. I love how they've been very upfront about their policy's and how the programs work. They told me when I started about how I need to work for a year after my associate or do my bachelors in order to take my specialty boards. Which worked out great for me because it allowed me time to practice and gain experience. Plus it does look better for work when you have a bachelors. Also love how they have an open door policy with all teachers and staff it's really easy to get help when needed. Plus the teachers want to help you. ULTRASOUND!!! PLEASE DO YOUR RESEARCH!!!! The school is accredited to give certificates of completion of ultrasound. But they are not accredited for students to take their boards right after completion of the school, they need to work 1 year before actually taking a board. The ultrasound physics test you can take. But the actual Specialty boards (for example: OBGYN, ABDOMEN, VASCULAR, ECHO) you cannot take unless you have worked one year after you graduate. But that can be impossible because most jobs in California (especially LA and OC area) They will not hire you unless you have your boards. Or they may give you a grace period of six months to obtain your specialty board. There are other schools out there that are accredited for students to take their boards after their program. There's a lot of competition out there so good luck thanks to social media. This isn't an easy road to make money and it's not for the weak minded people it is a high stress environment to work in ultrasound. Keep that in mind you have people's lives in your hands. You are the doctor's eyes. NOTE: I have been in this ultrasound industry for 10+ years and I am the few lucky ones to have continued after completing this program. I attended this school 2 years ago and now I have a job and getting more experience from it. Yes it was hard to go for externship but if you practice on the people that you know it will do the same thing for you. Most times I would go to school and practice either on myself or on my classmates and till this day I still go there and practice. Overall I like this school, Dr. Sam taught many different things and it is very useful (Abdominal, Cardiac, Vascular, etc...) from what I have noticed and asked different people, this school is way cheaper in tuition as well and they teach you everything in the body. read more

Last week I filled out a form on PCI College website for Sonograhy courses, the next day I was contacted via email, so far so good. The day after I received the email, they called me and we arranged an appointment for me to come in on Feb 1st 2023 at 10am. Mind you, I weren't told to bring anything with me however I took it upon myself to at least bring my DL and Diploma (No brainer) Red Flag #1 Fast forward to today (2-1-23) smdh. I go in and filled out a form, feeling real confident. After submitting the form, the one who arranged the appointment brought me into their office and immediately got a red flag. They asked " Did we have an appointment?" Of course I answered "yes", told her my name, the date we arranged the appointment, ect. Come to find out they didn't even create the appointment, so that's red flag #2. So we get passed that and we continue with the appointment, the person in question asked me a single question " So why do you want to become a sonograher?". I gave a genuine response, they were pleased! SOO, they whipped out some papers and start explaining which class I will be part taking in, dates, schedules, everything's looking good. RED FLAG #3 smh......... We go over what I need to do in order to pay for the classes and of course in my mind I'm thinking FAFSA, Pell grants, Student Loans. They absolutely accepts those form of payments but here's the twist......They want you to pay a $100 fee at the start of the program AND WANT $200 EVERY MONTH OUT OF YOUR OWN POCKET ON TOP OF THE $39k PRICE!! I Asked "Well what's the point of FAFSA and student loans if I still have to pay after tuition fees?".. You know what they said? "It show dedication and you need a job" Sonography is one field that you absolutely do not want to take and have a job at the same time. Not saying it isn't possible but you will have to endure high stress and is very unpleasant on your body overall. It's very demanding and set you up for failure so y'know, to have to take their course again and have a greater debt. Red Flag #4! They told me I needed to bring more things with me and bring it for the next appointment. (Why didn't you tell me to bring what is required before the appointment?). Don't waste your time going to this school. I attended PCI in 2017-2018. I regret going here. First off they are NOT accredited. They lied to me about that when I started. They charged me way more than my fellow classmates. Once you graduate they don't help you get a job or pass your exams. They just want your money. I've read all the reviews posted on here and have taken them into consideration. When I researched schools, I did it thoughtfully. That being said, I am currently a senior at this school and am at the tail end of my courses. I'm a middle-aged mother and wife looking to change my career and my future. I chose PCI because of the benefits of going to a private school. Yes, you will INVEST more money versus a public school. However, you will also waste your time on prereqs and waiting lists. PCI is intimate and information intense. My experience is exactly what I want out of it. I dedicate and commit myself to my craft and the instructors have been everything that I could ask for. I attended this school during pandemic and have only great things to say about my experience. The teachers are amazing. Doctor Sam was my favorite teacher. His explanation were very clear and I started understanding things that the book could never explain. He provides both a great mix of listening, speaking and practical learning activities. I need to say that I loved my dental class with the professor miss Arianna fox! I learned so much and it helped me to prepare for the real world aka my job interview at an amazing dental office. Not only did learn the basics work book but also on hand learning. Miss fox provided most of our equipment and supplies. As a student at PCI, I have to say that this was the best dental class I could have chosen. Miss Arianna is the best dental instructor!! With her experience in the dental field (20years) she really knew what she was talking about and gave us real life examples. I feel really lucky to have come into the school when I did and have her be my instructor. Even when the school director wouldn't provide us with the supplies we needed she would go out of her way to purchase them so that we would be able to learn. She made the class fun with projects, we didn't just read out of the book we also did a lot of hands on. She would always explain the dental terms in ways we would understand them. There are so many great things I can say about her, I have no complaints whatsoever! The only reason why I am giving the school 4 stars is because the school director(Ray) would put other classes before us and provide them with the supplies they needed. He would always say there was no money to buy the supplies he needed for our class. My question is what did we pay for then ? If I am paying for the class then use that money to provide everything. The contract clearly said all equipment/supplies/books/ uniforms would be included and they were not. So we missed out on a few things not because the the instructor didn't want to teach but because the school director wouldn't provide us with the supplies we needed. Everyone else in the office is nice. The school's placement coordinator Patty is also great. She really does help you find a job and look for an office that's fits your schedule while doing you're hours. read more

I was recommended to this college by my doctor to do an ultrasound on my kidneys , bladder and prostate. The student did a very great job supervised by the instructor Dr. Sam who is a great teacher. And the best part it was FREE. The whole time i was listening and watching the screen. And he was explaining to the student. The student was very professional and loved what she was doing. Based on my experience and what I observed that day I highly recommend this school to anyone who wishes to pursue a career in ultrasound. So were do I begin.. I enrolled into the DMS afternoon coarse. My anatomy class was great after finishing up anatomy we began lecture and lab .Lectures were difficult for me because our teacher had a strong accent and on the over head he had slides prepared for the class but it would be difficult to read at times because he misspelled words. Lab was good we have many ultrasound machines and a helper who can guide us. I'm not too happy because I feel like I didn't get much out of the teachers as in they were bot very informative and did not go out their way for their students.I did most of my studying at home 80% and researching on my computer. Now I am done with school and currently doing my hours I am very interested in specializing in obgyn I was in a nice site at first but due to the technician I was working with retiring I had to change sites.This is not my schools fault I am at a new site now not even doing obgyn anymore ..with 1 technician and 8 students from other schools. I've been bugging my school for a new site to no prevail I feel like I night have to look for a new site myself to get some progress which I feel I shouldn't have to be doing in the first place. I am a current graduate for Diagnostic Sonographer and i have to say i could not have chosen a better school. As a lot of people may know with trade schools it is a hit or miss on the quality of education you will be receiving. I am happy to say that i hit a bulls eye. The teachers are amazing and take their time to make sure everyone understands the current lecture (we all don't learn at same pace). Dr. Sam has such a positive way of doing things to make sure no one gets discouraged when doing an exam either on patient or volunteer student. I myself felt discouraged at the beginning and he reminded me why i came to this field in the first place, to help patients and have a brighter future for myself and family. Teachers are super sweet and know what they're doing but are not very helpful since one is hardly ever in the room and the other doesn't understand and is hard to understand. Ray is the least helpful person I have ever met and is very money-hungry and deceiving. I had to talk to him 5x about the same situation in which the teachers were willing to help with but he lied about helping me with & kept pushing it off. I was told they were going to help us get externships and jobs. My whole class and I had to do this on our own, including the externships. I was told they were willing to work with us on the monthly payments but they didn't tell us they would hold our certificate in the process!!! I've been done with my externship for 4 months now and they still will not give me the certificate they told me would be ready "in 2 days". Ray said to pay $500 , along with my monthly payments, and he would give me my certificate. I did TWICE and still do not have it. DO NOT RECOMMEND. read more

Im just wondering how much these people were paid for their review's?? I attended the school when it first opened (first grads) and they screwed me and my fellow classmates big time!! I attended the ultrasound course and I'm still paying for nothing 11 years later !! I never found a job and because the school was only 6 months after completing I found out that PCI didnt make the requirements to become state licensed! Yea I can get licensed with at least one year of experience but whos going to hire u with only 6 months of non professional schooling ? Just stay away from PCI they actually argued with me saying that I attended the medical assistant program not the ultrasound program lol even had that info in my school record's lol!! I recently Graduated from Professional Career Institute (2015). I became well versed in anatomy, physiology and pathology of the human body as a result of my education there. I am now proficient in Ultrasound examinations in clinical settings for cardio, abdominal, vascular and OB/GYN scans. The professors are knowledgeable, skilled and were engaged in my success. I was well aware that after studying at P.C.I. that I would have to continue to devote time to a non-salaried internship as part of the education process. 18 months (including the course and internship) is not a great amount of time in order to completely change your career and quality of life. I am saddened 'First Grads' did not have the same experience 11 YEARS ago. You will find recent reviews will better reflect what you will receive today. The growth of the school program includes numerous doctors and facilities that they network with and can help provide successful placement. I love this school. I went back twice! 2005 I went for medical billing & coding, 2010 for medical assisting. The M/A program was really fun. Dr. Ricardo made class easy to look forward to. I was hired on my externship site and was able to obtain employment in other areas of the medical field. Medical assistant, claims processor, UM Director's assistant. My attendance has been worth it for me. Class sizes are small, which is perfect for me because I don't like big crowds, they intimidate me and I get distracted. PCI COLLEGE has been extremely helpful for me. I was able to get into a hospital right after I was done with my classes, to start my internship. I am more than thrilled. The staff at PCI College are extremely professional - and all my professors teach you and trained you what you should know. My professors are specialists in ultra sound. If you don't want this career the school provides you with many more career options such as ComputerNetworking, Dental Assistant, Medical Assisting , Medical Billing and Coding. The teachers are unprofessional. The lab teacher, Dr. Sam, has made it a habit to show up late to class, with no excuse and without any notice to the students. It is a complete waste of time. During a class period the students will literally sit there and do nothing for over an hour, while the lecture teacher has to repeatedly enter grades into his computer that he has already entered but didn't remember to save them. The teachers are unorganized and on more than one occasion do not even know what chapter they covered the day prior, or what chapter the next test will be over. Homework is a joke, it doesn't matter if you do it or not because the teacher quite simply just does not care. In my personal opinion a professor at a college, teaching students should be at least someone professional, punctual, and educated. Do not, I say again do not waste your money on this school.
