It's significantly disappointing that an establishment that is apart of our education and judicial system that has allowed someone to steal my identity and open a loan in their facility. I have been trying to contact this school for nearly a year, dealing with the police department, and now needing to seek legal aide as they have consistently ignored my messages and refused to contact me back. Visiting California for the first time as a North East resident, not only was it a violation of self, but demeaning that a professional establishment will not take accountability for their errors. HR acts as if they do not want their jobs. They don't like speaking to workers or providing information. They definitely need training on customer service, effective communication.... and don't talk about workers. I'm having the worst experience ever with HR! The president/CEO received $396,000 in compensation in 2022. The Chief Business Officer (what kinda made up job is that?!) received $256,000 in compensation in 2022. I'm sure you can add 10% to that for 2023 (not published yet). Yet the same pubic hair was in the same position on the bathroom urinal I frequented for the entire semester Spring 2024. The bathrooms are literally not cleaned. Ever. The place is filthy. The water fountains are disgusting. The bathroom floor in the shop building was like a beach. A dirty beach. However the staff closed the bathroom for cleaning exactly at our class time every afternoon. What they did in there I have no idea. It wasn't cleaning. The floor was literally NEVER swept. A good part of the campus is unkempt. Just edge the grass off the sidewalks folks...very simple to make the place presentable. Hey Mr. President/CEO and Mr Business Officer get a broom and a rag and some LimeAway and clean the place. Start with the corroded and calcified urinals. You really have no shame. My instructor knew his stuff and I enjoyed my classes. read more

Apparently, I had left a one star review and for some reason, it got taken down. All I can say is that I have shame admitting that I graduated from here. When I was working as a call center student worker, the other employees barely did their jobs. The supervisors would get at me for "staring problems" and "loud music." My advice is to just find employment somewhere else because the work environment here is toxic. read more

A new structure...looks good. A lot of space and private study rooms. Only problem is that EVERYONE in the room needs a school ID. During the summer it seems as tho the AC isn't as cool as it should be as it's all glass,,,it can still get hot in there. No drinks or food allowed so put your water in your back pack. Chairs are not great but tables are nice and big with outlets at every spot. read more

I've got mixed feelings about this place. People mean well. The enduring sense, though, is that they are unable to overcome the contradictions and obstacles entrenched by the powers in Sacramento and DC. Case in point: EOPS... I qualify for assistance, but I can't receive it because a school in another state is holding my transcript hostage until they get their money. This is just one example of a bureaucratic nightmare that has become the education system. Private businesses across this country have taken control of the education system, and they've turned it into a weapon to serve their own children while penalizing the children of their competitors (and serfs) read more

I enrolled in a class here about 13 years ago for my teaching credential (subject matter/CSET prep) and I had not been back until Thanksgiving 2018. I came here today on behalf of team Isadore Hall. He and a few local representatives sponsored an event to give away free turkeys for Thanksgiving to the residents of Compton. I volunteered with my cousin passing out the turkeys. It was a great event. Now let's talk about the college itself. The overall appearance of the college has had a facelift. There are more buildings on campus. We were stationed near the baseball field by gymnasium. My only complaint is parking. I didn't see much parking. As a matter of fact we had to park on an unpaved area. Compton College appears to be a small campus. Campus security was present throughout the campus. I did noticed that there was a child development center on campus that I never knew existed. Basically, it's a junior college so they offer associate degrees. I work for the city of Compton so it's nice to know there is a public junior college right in the neighborhood. read more

I love this campus. I prefer to take classes here then in the Torrance campus. The teachers here care about you and actually want you to succeed. I think night classes are more serious because everyone taking night classes are people that work and are taking school seriously! Some classes may offer a short class before your actual class for tutoring or help. It's a student helping you but the student knows what he or she is doing so it's great! I used to go to Santa Monica college and it was horrible I used to feel like I was in competition with other students for a good grade. Teachers were nice there but not as caring as they are here. And parking is always easy to find (the afternoons) or you can park on Artesia-theres always parking but it's a little sketchy but parking was horrible at Santa Monica. The only thing that sucks is the streets. Artesia Blvd is sooo messed up. read more

I admit, I was a little frightened about taking classes at Compton campus but that fright is long gone! There are plenty of reasons that students should keep in mind because this campus is a good alternative! Pros: Parking isn't as cut throat vs. Torrance Campus. Parking permit is cheaper. (use to be $12 but went up to $20, compared to $35 at Torrance) Classes do not fill up as fast! Majority of the campus is one level. Close to the 91 freeway. Cons: Restrooms get disgusting at the end of the week. Cafeteria closes early. Bookstore is very tiny. read more

Avoid taking classes in this campus at all cost. Not sure whether the teachers are underpaid or what, but they WILL NOT CARE to help you, not attending their office hours at all, cutting class hours short, there will also be several days that they don't come to class. Let's just start off with this is the most unprofessional school I have ever been to considering I have gone and taken classes at Cerritos college, Dominguez hills and cal state Long Beach. I had been coming here since April 2019 to have staff members help me apply to the college, apply for summer 2019 and make sure I will get financial aid. Every person I spoke to in admissions, welcome center, financial aid and counseling said I was registered and ready to go for summer 2019. I even made sure before my vacation I had all my classes and financial covered. I arrive to school June 17 to find out that I am not even registered for Compton college. All this time people in admissions and the welcome center had been giving me the wrong information. When I registered they helped me register for El Camino not Compton College. Now I am struggling to find classes and no one will help nor will they allow me to be a part of their class. TO TOP OT OFF. My mom works in this college and she depends on her paycheck for bills. The office she works in FORGOT TO SUBMIT HER PAPER WORK. How can you forget about your employee? THIS SCHOOL IS CORRUPT, THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL and DONT CARE ABOUT OTHERS AS LONG AS THEYRE GETTING PAID. read more

Despite preconceived assumptions about El Camino College Compton Center, I have to say that I enjoy taking classes here. Upon completing my BA at UCLA I decided to change career paths and go into Nursing. As a result, there were about 9 classes I had to take before I could apply to any program. At this point [late summer], most community college classes will full and I was panicking. And then, by some miracle, I stumbled across ECC-Compton Center. To my surprise they had every class that I needed to take [Chem, anatomy, psych, speech..etc] and none of them were full!! Now, I have to admit I was a little nervous about taking classes in Compton but I had no other choice at the time so I enrolled. The campus is right off of the Santa Fe exit off of the 91..so not a horrible location. The majority of classrooms/buildings look worn down but it looked like the Math & Science building had a face lift recently. Not to say that it was a great renovation but at least they had working equipment for the Chem Lab & Anatomy Lab. After a year of taking classes here I can honestly say that I have enjoyed my experience. The parking is cheap [$12/semester] and it's very easy to find a parking space unlike at other colleges like SMC where you have to stalk every person walking into the lot. The professors are SUPER SUPER nice, very passionate, understanding, and have a genuine interest in each and every student. I can confidently say that 100% of the professors there care about the well-being of each student and constantly encourage every student to try their best. The people are super nice as well. People are very laid back here and not crazy competitive/snobby like at other colleges & universities. This made for a great learning environment in my opinion because everyone had each others back in the class and so it was easy to make friends and feel comfortable on campus. Although ECC-Compton Center does not have top of the line equipment for the labs like at other CCs or universities, they make do with what they have and honestly I think it works just fine. They are currently trying to renovate the entire campus and so once they are finished I'm sure it'll look like a completely different college. If you ever find yourself looking for a class that is full at other campuses you should definitely check out ECC-Compton Center because more often than not, the class will be open. I think people are too paranoid about the location of this campus, but I believe as long as you stay vigilant then it shouldn't be a problem. Plus there are cops everywhere & they are super friendly too. If you ever need someone to walk with you back to your car I'm sure they'd be willing to escort you. Admissions staff is rude, never willing to help and lose your paperwork as soon as you hand it to them. I first attended this campus earlier this year for Spring 2015 semester. I was enrolled in the EMT course. I honestly had no idea that this campus existed until I heard by word of mouth. Whoa! I have to say that I was amazed by it! A small campus located right in the border line of Compton and North Long Beach, El Camino Compton campus is the second campus that is part of El Camino College which is located in Torrance. Their library inside looks amazing and new. They have a few buildings and some that they were still constructing at this time. They also do have a pretty sizeable football field. Parking is plentiful, as there is some by the filed as well as by the building by the student store. Since I was only coming once a week, I really was not able to see much of the campus. I really hope that this doesn't get me into any trouble as I am a continuing student lol. ADMISSIONS OFFICE: the people who work there are quick and efficient with their jobs, no problem there. For counseling though if you're a new student I suggest going to the FYE office located at the F building and getting into it, they are extremely helpful! Maria (the coordinator) is amazing at what she does and it really shows how much she cares for the program. FINANCIAL AID OFFICE: located in the E building.. It really depends on what day, what time, and who you get to assist you. I've had a variety of experiences every time I've gone in. Sometimes they're kind and helpful at giving information, sometimes they're really rude and can't seem to be bothered. I always try to go when they aren't too busy so they don't rush and I can get all my questions in without feeling pressured to leave. BURSAR OFFICE: Have your student ID/ CA ID, debit/ cash ready please. The lines get extremely long at the beginning of each semester and we're all just trying to get it done as quickly as possible! LIBRARY/ COMPUTER LAB: this is the newest building on campus therefore we aren't allowed to bring in any food/ drinks inside (not even water). In the library you must have you student ID with the current term sticker to check out books and to borrow math / science books. The computer lab is upstairs and you need your student ID with valid term sticker to even go in. Bring change to use the copy machine in the library and to print in the computer lab! 10 cents a paper. Btw THE RESTROOMS ARE ALWAYS CLEAN IN THIS BUILDING! CAFETERIA: unfortunately this is the worst thing about this campus. There aren't any fast food chains here, just the school cafeteria that has dirty + greasy food. They do have many of the things you'd find at a liquor store though (minus the alcohol, duh lol). If you drive I suggest going to the Alameda plaza not too far from the school for lunch, or 7-11 down the street on greenleaf. Overall I don't mind going to this school, I live nearby and although it's not the best.. I'm here for one thing and that is to get my AS and then I'm out to a 4-year. Teachers are great and really hands on here as opposed to the larger campuses. Oh! Last thing, most classes are always available, but Math/ science are the ones you should add pretty early. read more

Great place to walk and get in shape. Me and my husband would walk over here 2 days a week and run the bleachers. It is a safe location there is a security office near the field. You can walk thru the campus to back side on greenleaf and hit the exercise equipment on backside of campus. Walk the track. Lots of other people out here getting in shape also. Honestly, I was a bit terrified when I found out I had to take a class at this campus. I mean, a couple of my friends have had pretty bad experiences in Compton area, let alone in the campus. They are currently having construction done in some areas of the campus, so parking is a bit compromised. But let me tell you something, this campus isn't so bad after all. Sure, it's not as pretty as the campus in Torrance. Sure, it's not as well lit in some areas. But the fact that it is located in this neighborhood resulted in having a lot of cops and school police roaming around constantly to ensure safety. Overall, if you went to Yelp to look for reviews about this campus to see if you should take a class (just like I did lol), then take it from me when I say "Go for it." read more

While it is nice to be able to take classes here if you can't find any at the main campus... THIS PLACE SUCKS. Last semester I had a night class and I was followed by a man wearing a hoody who only ran away when I ran to another student. This place is in major disrepair, water damaged dirty rooms, no toilet paper, soap or paper towel in the bathroom. They are doing construction on the parking lots, but they are doing too much at once so parking is very limited and you can't park in the neighborhood with out an permit. For the most part - its an okay school... Its actually easy - or at least the classes I took-. The campus is actually really safe. I witnessed only one altercation during my entire 4 years studying at the campus. (yes, 4 years! undecided major). It was gang affiliated but they were simple minded young kids. The type I would personally look at and laugh. I'm also pretty excited about the new construction. I hope they have more parking b/c right now its complete HELL! read more

To the person who said there was no "sign" to let you know. There's a GIANT bright red sign before entering the whole school stating that you NEED a parking permit 7days a week and it's strictly enforced. It's been there, mmm forever! And there's many big yellow kiosk machines throughout the parking lots, so i think that's pretty much saying something. I almost got myself a ticket for leaving my car unattended for like literally one minute with emergency lights on. The police there don't really have much to do but drive around the parking lots ALL day long, so they do take notice on most every single car. -_-sucks! I think u missed that. But i also think students should be able to park free, it's enough with fees and tuition. $3 a day isn't nice, and $20 per semester still doesn't seem fair. I think that they should be glad students want to attend their campus and each student should be given a parking validation upon class registration. So those are the parking lot cons, but opposed to that OMG i cannot begin to tell u how much i LOVE being here at the Compton center! Only a person who is truly seeking knowledge and has a passion for something will be able to see how much potential this college has! I could go down the list, but I've got no time. I'll be back later to state most the services (free of charge) that are provided to each and every student. This is a descent school. It's not perfect, but way better than I thought.. There are many class sections available And the smaller atmosphere seems a lil more intimate than the Torrance campus. I will say that this school, the campus, the people and the area are getting a lot better. my first thought about going here was "aww sh!t you gotta be kidding me" but when i got here i was like "alright this place isn't bad at all". Aesthetically, it looks like an oversized middle school with big buildings and kinda gave off a depressing vibe, but after a couple of weeks this campus grew on me and learned to appreciate it for what it is and going here was really fun. The overall environment is SUPER chill and laid back. Campus is really quite and everybody is just focused on bettering themselves. Classes are fun and close-knit as they're pretty small(15-20 people) and professors don't exactly have super high expectations. This place might not be for everyone, but i find it homey. Im transferring this fall and wish i took more classes here. i will sincerely miss this place. Much love from me :) read more

I love this college. I went to it bk in 98 when it was just compton college then it WAS ghetto. But now it is a completely different college. It is very easy to get classes, always parking and believe it or not has a diverse student body. They have updated almost everything & they keep it really clean. Police are always visible on campus. (No not like jail) but like most schools have campus police this campus REALLY has compton police. I actually like that! I haven't heard of any car theft/violence at all this semester & I bet that is because of the police. Regardless if you need to tk some jr. college classes this is a really good school to go to! read more

There is a need to have an evening BEG sewing class (which is called Fashion 10a/b) at ECC near 562 area code. I called the Fashion Division of Industry & Technology and the lady on the phone was so helpful, patient and nice. She mentioned that there would need to be 20 students ready to register for the beginning sewing class. I was there in the International Students department to ask about the Student Visa procedure and the person in charge (Leo I think is his name) of that department is the innapropiate person to be there, International students need support and someone to undertand their needs. I arrived and before me was an student from india telling this Leo guy how she was feeling overwhelmed with the classes cause she was finding hard to understand part of them and he just started YELLING at her!!! saying stuff like ---then why did you get involve in that program if you are not intrested on learning, what are you going to do when classes get harder this is just the beging and you don´t understand what are you expecting in a few months that the class get more advance bla bla blaa yeeling so hard, I felt so bad for her and for all the other International students that go to that college.
