I enrolled in a class here about 13 years ago for my teaching credential (subject matter/CSET prep) and I had not been back until Thanksgiving 2018. I came here today on behalf of team Isadore Hall. He and a few local representatives sponsored an event to give away free turkeys for Thanksgiving to the residents of Compton. I volunteered with my cousin passing out the turkeys. It was a great event. Now let's talk about the college itself. The overall appearance of the college has had a facelift. There are more buildings on campus. We were stationed near the baseball field by gymnasium. My only complaint is parking. I didn't see much parking. As a matter of fact we had to park on an unpaved area. Compton College appears to be a small campus. Campus security was present throughout the campus. I did noticed that there was a child development center on campus that I never knew existed. Basically, it's a junior college so they offer associate degrees. I work for the city of Compton so it's nice to know there is a public junior college right in the neighborhood.

I want to go to this college named Compton College because it's in LA when I'm older. And it looks cool.

I used to go to Santa Monica college and it was horrible I used to feel like I was in competition with other students for a good grade.

It gave insight into current workforce challenges and highlighted the need for passionate, well-prepared professionals entering the field. I found it valuable because it connected what I am learning now to real-world needs in healthcare. The message that inspired me the most was the idea that the future of imaging depends on the next generation of professionals. It reminded me that even as a student, I have an important role in shaping the field. This motivated me to take my education seriously and to strive to make a positive impact on patients and the healthcare team. The instructors I've had so far have been supportive and actually want you to understand the material, not just pass. What I appreciate most is how hands-on everything feels, especially with having started my externship. Career Services has also been helpful. Events they put together give you a better idea of what to expect in the field and how to carry yourself professionally. It's not just about school, they're trying to get you ready for real life after graduation, which I respect. It's not always easy, but if you're serious about your career, it's worth it. Classwise, I am only taking one class at the PCC campus every Friday and 4 at the LAC campus. The PCC campus is great because it's not too crowded, the buildings are newer and closer together. It's very tranquil when I sit outside and decompress from 4 hours of statistics. It also helps its blocks away from my house. :) LBCC has been a great community college choice. Taking one star away because of the constant construction or maintenance I keep running into. Today the bathroom on the first floor of the building I am in is out of order.
