I heard that this place pays for items you want to sell with cash. Probably, if you were doing a consignment, you'd get more for your items, but if quick cash is your thing, I'd try it out just to understand the process. I finally made the time to drop off a few of my X's gifts that I wanted out of my house. A name brand purse was involved. Besides some name brand perfume and a dress from Shein, the experiment was small. I was expecting at least $50 for the haul, but haha - $18 was my takeaway. I at least have to applaud them processing the haul prior to the estimated time. I was in the parking lot managing my next stop when I received a text that my offer was ready. I was told the offer is computerized and not left up to the store members. I really didn't care - it was a gift that I didn't want in my house anymore, so the $18 was more than I was getting with it collecting dust. You may say just donate it, but clothing accessory donations have not yielded me any tax breaks over the years, so I gladly took my 18 bucks and will buy groceries for the church food bank. Additionally, the Shein dress (that by the way had never been worn and had the tags on it) as well as barely used perfume was not accepted items. They offered to donate the dress to Goodwill, and I gave the perfume to the young lady who was working the hauls. Again, I didn't want the items in my house anymore, so my goal was accomplished. Now, if it had been my own stuff I paid money for, I probably would have taken those items back and found someone to buy them or put them under consignment. However, since it was no cost to me, the experiment was just okay for me. I know they'll make way more than $18 off that name brand purse, but that's the trade-off for same day cash back for selling items. Overall, I'm sure this is a great resource for people who need cash right away, but I'm never in that kind of bind to just give my stuff away, which you are almost doing at Plato's. As far as the selection of clothes to buy, I didn't check. It was way too crowded for my taste with bunches of racks. Since I'm not a shopper most days, I wasn't moved to look either. Maybe one day soon, I'll choose to do so and give an overall review of this place, but for now, you have insight on being a seller at Plato's in case you're interested. read more

So today I went to sell clothes. Upon my dismay, I had a larger item than just a trash bag. When checking in, I was informed that if I would have to lift the luggage above the waist to place it on the counter. When asked if I could roll it around, I was told "no because we would have to pick it up". Then I asked for assistance to help lift it until the counter and was told "if you can pick it up yourself, then we can't go through it". However, it took two of them to go through the luggage but no help?! It just makes me feel sorry for those who are actually handicapped or needed extra assistance due to the lack of physical capability. Plus the counter is entirely too high for most. Didn't greet us at all when we walked in. Just got looked at as if we didn't belong. Decided to let my fiance walk around and look at the mens stuff. He didn't really see too many things he wanted. The womens side was a total clutter mess. The aisles for the women's stuff is too narrow and honestly could cause someone anxiety walking through it. I wasn't really looking for anything due to being pregnant but they didn't have a good selection of any name brand bags or anything. Looks like most of the stuff they get is fashion nova, shein and pink. Shoes were absolutely filthy and dirty that they had on display. Any other worker I ran into didn't greet me nor talk to me. I have been to this location before and have sold clothes here and the one in SugarLand. This one in particular barely buys your clothes. You could have designer in there and they'd say "its not the style." I assume they don't really look through the clothes because I have put amazing stuff in there that IS in style.... I'm 23 btw so I do know what's in and not in. So I decided to test my theory and see if they actually look through the bags and I have a REAL Gucci shirt that I put in one of the bags. You know that your clothes are perfectly good, are the same styles that they sell there, are better than a lot of the ripped, faded, crap you have to wade through to find the gem hiding in the dung on their racks, and then some 16- or 17-year-old with iron hooks through their lips who is dressed absolutely *horribly* won't take your clothes. Have you seen how the employees dress? Bad taste doesn't begin to describe it. You're refusing my clothes when you're dressed like *that*??! Anyway, I went to the Pearland location with a pair of Doc Marten loafers and a nice pair of dark blue bootcut jeans. (What was I hoping for? Maybe 10 bucks total, would probably take $6 or $7 just to get them off my hands. I wasn't expecting a *good* price, but it beats the trouble and the fleecing of eBay.) I know, I know: not clothes for everyone, but neither are ripped skinny jeans. The teenager took one look at the gray in my beard, and didn't disdain to look any further. Plato's closet is a RIP off in my opinion..its Fall coming so I knew sweaters and booties would be in demand..I went in with 2 pair of adorable leather steve madden booties practically new and a sweater worn once no piling and received $17..so that's about $5 a piece...i had way more but that's all they took including new style clothing with tags they passed up...I'm willing to bet the boots will be $40 plus..I honestly didnt care because it was here or goodwill..This was my 1st time and I just wanted to see what it was all about..never again ..at least goodwill would have been good for taxes which is where I dropped the stuff they didnt take..And why dont they offer you a better deal with store credit at least although the only thing I saw in there worth looking at were a few workout leggings.The rest was outdated or just plain dusty looking read more

So we just left the Plato's closet in Pearland. With nothing purchased. We get there and we're all shopping even my daughter found a cute sleep mask and two ring pops. And was standing nicely next to me holding them in her hands. (She is 6) Then she says "mom I really need to go potty" I think to myself.. knowing they don't have a public restroom but she's 6 so she normally doesn't ask unless it's really urgent. I ask just to see. The girl says no. Ady tugs on my shirt..I really need to go.. the girl just looks at me and my daughter and says "the nearest public restroom is smoothie king" and then turns away. Mind you, it's 95 degrees outside at 4pm! It's really hot and it's across two parking lots.. also, there is not one other shopper in that store except me, my husband and my child. And 3 employees. So I'm looking at my husband trying to figure out what we do because we're both holding 4-5 items each... and then the lady comes back up to us.. "Umm...so we actually don't let people walk around the store with the ring pops because they've been eating them in the store and not buying them." Here I am thinking she's going to offer us the restroom but no! she wants me to take away candy from my kid who she refuses to let use her restroom. And is honestly about to have an accident in this store. So I just take them out of my daughters hand, hand them to her and say "she's 6, really?" I went into this store to sell some clothes for my aunt at 12:00 and got a message saying that my items were ready to pick up by 12:04. All of my items included Gianni Bannini, Jessica Simpson, and multiple coach shoes as well as Bebe tops amongst other well known brands. When I went back into the store I was told that none of my items were being taken because they "weren't the style they were looking for and the wouldn't sell good" in their store. The young lady that helped me was absolutely no help at all and was frankly very rude & just brushed me off to continue talking with her coworkers. I have never been turned down at a Plato's like this and while I understand that the clothes I was taking in are not in style with what the 20 year olds working there believe are "in", they are clothes for a mature woman that are definitely still in. I was able to sale some clothes and the rest was out of season. I have no major complaints however, no matter where you work you should he happy to help your guest. The staff here is much more laid back than your average Plato's Closet employee - they seem genuinely interested in having a conversation with you (instead of the more common forced, awkward small talk that most people make because they have to). I had called ahead to the store to see what types of items they were taking and so I can't say I wasn't totally surprised at the small amount of items that they were interested in. What surprises me is that looking around the store the store seem to be filled with old outdated clothing and dirty shoes. Maybe if they would get rid of the old stuff in their store they would have room for the new never worn items that I brought into the store with tags that they opted not to take. Payout was also the worst I've ever experienced at a Plato's closet. I know they use a computer system but two pair of women's sneakers and two pair of men's sneakers one dress and three workout tops should get me more than $24. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! I passed by this store and I decided to give it a try. These ladies are terribly rude. First they take their sweet time getting to you when it's only two people in the store, TWO PEOPLE! Then, they talk about whatever you bring in front of you. The lady who picked my clothes was VERY PICKY. I had summer clothes but since they weren't "top notch designer clothes" she wouldn't take them. The angle in which this video is captured is only showing a subjective view of me shopping, however does not display where you the owner where located and continuously observing me which is primarily my grievance. I would love to see a comparison of how many times you looked in my direction as I shopped. As a Christian mother and a educator, I literally prayed that I was wrong in assuming you were observing me. After the third or fourth time I witnessed you yet again checking my purse and my location I could no longer help but to ask. I was truly hoping that your response would be that of "no you are mistaken, I'm sorry you feel that way, is there anything I can help you look for" On the contrary your response was very aggressive and in explains that you did not recognize me and you had the Right to look at anyone in your store you pleased. The people here are really nice and helped me. I got cute $4 dollar sunglasses and a guess bracelet that was $5 or $6, don't really remember, good price if you ask me. When I entered the store they showed me a list of items that where not on sale. WTF nearly all the merchandise was on that list.
