While I do not love the location, organization of the store or helpfulness level of employees... this location does have some hidden gems inside. Last year I found this leather jacket for $40 and it is stunning! Worth the drive from Nashville for that alone. I don't do it often as the other factors don't make me love shopping here, but once in a while worth the chance for a steal of a find like this. If you live in the Murfreesboro area I would definitely recommend, but for those going there from the Nashville area, make sure you are in the right mindset before you head over. And maybe put on some music to pump you up on the hour long car ride over. read more

It's been a long long time since I sold anything to Plato's closets. I thought I give it another chance. since Some items lightly worn clothes. Mostly just worn once. Plato's closet made it a bit easier checking in at the counter with your bag of items brought in. Receiving a text when it's done and ready to be picked up. I will say not worth the time bringing it here. You just might as well go straight to Good will and drop off at the donation center. They hardly buy much or maybe they are just sharing and lightly buying a pieces from everyone that drops by. But definitely don't look forward to making big bucks. read more

We brought 3 bags full of clothes, lots of name brand items they said it would take about 30-45 mins so we drove to grab some lunch and before we got to the next parking lot over they were done...it was clear they didn't even open the bags. First experience shopping here, I brought bin of great condition shoes and bag of clothes. I understand they are looking for select items. All name brand items, I had. I was offered $5 for a long sleeve turtle neck and another top. $5 you guys. I get my items back, a sandal was damaged, unraveling and I was told I must've brought it in like that. Absolutely not. I decide to take the $5 and shop in store for 10% off. I buy a $60 of Doc Martins. Long story short, I had them authenticated and were fake. I received my refund for the Doc Martins, I appreciated that. Every part of the experience was trying and customer service is not hospitable AT ALL. If its the weekend and you're looking to be productive, get rid of some lightly used items, do not go here. You will make more work for yourself loading all your items back in the car. Unless you want to use their place to "donate" items they will not purchase from you. (I am going to assume those end up on the shelves somehow). I will not be back to shop or sell. I don't understand this place tbh. I brought in 2 bags of name brand clothes (some with tags still on them!), including Shawn Mendes merchandise, H&M bottoms and tops, Calvin Klein, Polo Ralph Lauren, Bugle Boy Shorts, etc... they only took the athletic clothes (some not even name brand) and the worst items in the bags. Literally just left. Walked in looking for a pair of shoes I saw on their Instagram. It was gone but I found another and began to try them on. My fiancé, who was standing next to made a comment that a girl behind the counter, who was stuffing her face with chick-fil-a, rolled her eyes at me and began gossiping/talking about my fiancé and I. Mind you were were maybe 6 feet away. This isn't the first time employees here have made me, a customer, feel like nuisance. On top of this, their prices are crazy high here. I've been to multiple Plato's across the country and no place has ever been this expensive. To start, I've found some good deals in the sea of faded, stretched-out, largely outdated men's merchandise here before. I'll give them that. When you're buying, staff is friendly and helpful; however, unless the manager is here, don't bother trying to sell. Point blank period. I'll usually get a fair deal whenever he is working, but have witnessed other cashiers under-offering and then talking about buying items for themselves that they under-pay you for. Not a good look. Today finally did it for me. Plato's Closet, when I can see you selling Patagonias for $50 and you offer me $7, it's a bad look. Payout used to be a third of what you would sell it for. That would be a little north of $16. Another sidenote for management: Make sure your employees are working. I had one jacket, store wasn't busy (3 people checked out with 5 items or less) and two small buys (6 to 7 items) in front of me. Cashiers were standing around talking/singing, which is fine if they're working. They weren't. It took me almost an hour to get offered a joke price. If you're gonna try and rip me off, at least be quick about it. read more

Horrible sales associates that treat customers with the upmost disrespect. I went to drop some clothes and shoes off today at 10:55 AM (they open at 10 AM), as I walk in one girl rolls her eyes at me, as if I am intruding, and continues talking to the other two associates as I'm standing there. Once she's done stuffing her face with the Chic-Fil-A they were all eating she turns to me and says, "Put your stuff up here." - I did, then she states, "ID and phone." and I say, "I have them." to when she sighs out loud and says, "Well get them out." - I did. She then says, "You'll get a text." completely turns her back to me as I'm still standing there and continues to eat and carry on personal conversation with the other associates. I said, "Excuse me, I haven't been here in a while how does this work? Do I get a text when you guys are done and how long does it normally take?" She then turns around rolls her eyes again and says, "30-40 minutes and yeah you'll get a text. You can leave now." And I walked out before I exploded. This is always my first stop when I am looking to give away clothes. Don't expect them to take everything. They typically only take 10% or less because they are super picky. But I'm looking to get rid of the clothes, so no hurt feelings here. However, if you're looking to actually make some money, this is not the place for you. As far as shopping, it's fine. I used to come here all the time in high school when I was less picky about clothes but now I rarely come here. My sister came last night and got a ton of things since they are having a 90% off clearance sale. I came today hoping to rack up for summer but only left with four items. The store has been re-done which looks nice, but the store still seems disorganized. They don't have all categories marked, just the sizes. They have multiple different areas where they kept shorts, shirts, tank tops, etc. the only thing that was clear were the accessories, work out clothes, and the shoes. They do have a rewards program, which is a plus. I noticed that lots of the clothes were stretched out and some had stains on them. I had expected more high quality items since I've read a lot about them being picky when it comes to clothes that they buy. I'll be back, but honestly I just prefer shopping at Ross or Marshall's for cheap clothes that haven't already been broken in. read more

I purchased an item online and 24 hours later, drove to the store to pick up what I had purchased. The employee that was helping me was nice and did what she could but I was then told by another employee that I couldn't pick up the item until I had received a text message. I asked them why and he then told me that he hadn't gone to the back to grab it yet and therefore, I couldn't get it. It is one item. It is not hard to go to the back to pick up one item and bring it to me, especially if I had already paid for it and they had a full day to get the item from the back room and bring it to the front. Also, not to mention the prices are ridiculous for a second hand store... For example, they were selling Nike sports bra for $22 !! If you haven't been to Plato's Closet, you must have recently became the Duchess of Something. What? You haven't. Alright then, let's talk about saving money. I've been to all the the Plato Locations in this area; boro, antioch, and cool springs. Plato's Mufreesboro is awesome. It is pretty jam packed with stuff. You can be a boutique shopper that wants to see everything displayed all pretty like. There are displays but you will have to search for finds. Most of the stuff looks like its from your little sister's closet, but the great thing about that is that they leave all the best stuff for the grown ups. I've pulled Bestey Johnson, bebe, BCGB, coach, and more. MY SHOPPING TIME SAVER TIP: Don't be overwhelmed! Here's my personal shopping trick when it comes to mass volume stores. The great thing is that all the dresses are one huge row that has all the dresses. Start on one end and walk to the other only looking at colors and patterns. If it doesn't catch your eye for your taste, it's out! Next do it again. This time run your hand down the length of the row. Do Any of the items feel softer? Did it catch your eye the first time? If yes, then pull it out. Better clothing is made of better stuff. It feels better than cheaply made items or items that have been harshly cared for. You have 10 items in your hand. Cut it in half. Take the winners to the dressing room. If this dosen't cut your selection time down to 10 minutes...you crazy! have fun! read more

I had a basket full of beautiful clothes that I never wore that I brought here. There was an abundant amount of Pink, American Eagle, and Old Navey clothes. Most of them were not even the slightest bit wore out. The clothes did not have stains, and had tags. I took the clothes in and they said it would be about an hour to go through, however, that hour turned into three. They gave me the clothes that they did not accept and said that it was "inventory preference." Then proceeded to tell me they were buying 11 items for $30, I was surprised that it was that little. I got home and went through the clothes to find that they did not accept any of the items that were name brand, not even American Eagle shorts that were never wore. I walked in after trying to sell my clothes and the girl at the front counter, Lauren, was extremely rude. She made me feel unwelcome. Lauren was slinging my stuff around, rolling her eyes, and having an attitude. She continued to be very rude to me as she handed me my receipt... by flinging it on the counter and slamming the pin. At this point i've frustrated and wanted to speak to a manger.. so i asked for her name. Lauren barley said her name, therefor i asked her again, then she raised her voice and said "LAUREN" with an attitude. I said thank you and started to walk out. When i got to the door she raised her voice and said "HAVE A GREAT DAAAAYYYY"... sarcastically. I don't appreciate this kind of service when i spend so much money in that store and come frequently. This is the best Plato's Closet location I have ever visited! I had a great experience with the three young women working there, a great selection of trendy clothes, and very reasonable prices. If you are familiar with what to Plato's closet is, you understand that the majority of brands purchased here will be geared towards teens and college students. Also, because they are only going to purchase what will sell in their store, they have to be picky about what they take. That being said, as nearly-30 woman, I found some gems and was very impressed with the level of professionalism and courtesy of the employees. Was told even though they have had multiple returns on these from other unlucky customers they only will do an exchange with in the allotted 7 day return policy.
