Everyone is always so rude. I've come in here 3 times since I moved here. The first time, I brought my clothes in a bag because my hometown location allowed it and the girl at the front told me if I brought my stuff in a bag anymore I would be banned the second time they denied me because my stuff was in a cardboard box. Said it had to be plastic. Never heard that rule before. Third time they told me since it was a half day I couldn't leave the store for 45 minutes while they look through my clothes. They just always say things in the rudest way and seem to be annoyed by you being there. read more

We are always here at platos closet .. We.now drive back and forth to Baton Rouge , due to the fact that their employees here in Lafayette are extremely rude and lazy.... I am extremely upset do to the fact of a company even keeping employees like these.. here is a example. 1- MY WIFE WAS BRINGING OUR CLOTHES AND SHOES HERE TO LAFAYETTE AND THEY WERE PURCHASING LIKE 1ARE 2 ITEMS AND EVERYTHING HAD TADS ARE THEY WERE IN THE BOX.... 2- I WENT IN THERE WITH MY HUSBAND AND THEY DIDN'T KNOW THAT HE WAS WITH ME , HE IS DISABLED AND SOME STARTED LAUGHING AT THE WAY HE WALKS DUR TO DISABILITY. ONE MAIN PERSON / was making fun of him as he walked away from standing in front of me at the counter . He asked what he had to have clothes in so we could sale she told him a tote . I put my stuff beside the counter and she told me that he was going to bring stuff in trash bags and boxes because he is a bum and she told him that they couldn't buy shoes from him because , if she did everybody would be walking weird and they would look like the roach guy on MAN IN BLACK the movie and was calling him trash and 3 were laughing at him ... I didn't say anything this time.. 3- We went four days later and as I was standing at the counter he had walked in a little bit after me , due to the fact he was really slow and with a bad limp due to a disease he has had since he was a child , she had told me to be careful walking by him because I may get attacked by him falling on me are he may turn me into a zombie by the way he walks ... 4- I would look for him in the store and he would be back in the car, CRYING due to the fact of them poking fun at him and laughing at him he would ask about shoes and she would say that they didn't have Dr Scholl's for him very very sad.... 5- When he brought in items they didn't purchase anything , I brought them in the next day and they bought 17 items from me and it was the same tote he had that they said they couldn't take... 6- I told her the MANAGER ( A.K.A ) TORI that he is my husband and it was wrong and I never said anything before because he didn't want me to.... FURTHERMORE ; 7- NOW WE DRIVE BACK AND FORTH TO BATON ROUGE - DUE TO THE FACT OF MY HUSBAND IS EXTREMELY DEPRESSED PERSON AND SHE MAKES IT WORSE FOR HIM BECAUSE HE IS ALREADY SELF CONSCIOUS ABOUT IT..... PLATOS CLOSET IN BATON ROUGE WE NOW GO THERE , VERY NICE EMPLOYEES AND ENJOY THEIR COMPANY AS WELL....... THEY PURCHASE FROM HIM AND ME .... 8- ITS CRAZY THE EMPLOYEES THAT WORK HERE HOW THEY CHANGE WHEN ( TORI ) IS ON SHIFT.... Honestly, they have great clothes. I made $24.50 off 8 items out of 12 items. Not bad if you want some extra cash. They have started to sell bigger sizes in their clothes. Plato's closet sells accessories and shoes too. If you buy items, the money you made (selling your stuff) can go to your purchases OR you can get the cash flat out. I will be dropping by later on today to sell another bag full of clothes. THE BEST PART: YOU CAN BRING YOUR CLOTHES TO SELL IN TRASH BAGS! The staff is friendly and respectful. read more

I feel like Tori as manager has really turned the store around. Its always clean, the employee's are friendly, and I've even been asked if I need help finding outfits (which I LOVE) as I tend to wear the same type of style over and over again. I'm obsessed with your instagram posts, I love that I can visibly see thing that are trendy without feeling like its cramming whats hot now down my throat. Staff kind of rude and unhelpful. They now only accept clothes in plastic containers which I find inconvenient. I used to be able to bring things in reusable bags, but not anymore. Bring your clothes to Clothes Mentor next door for a much better experience. read more

I watched the employees roll their eyes at each new customer as they approached the counter. I went up to the counter around the time that I was told my clothes would be done, was not acknowledged by anyone. Additionally, I watched as my pile of items was shoved to the side, without anyone notifying me that my items had been evaluated. I asked the associate if my items were ready and he just shrugged. I pointed to my items to clarify which ones belonged to me, he sighed and picked them up and said, "Oh, someone tried to call you." Which is AMAZING because I had been standing there the ENTIRE time, my phone never rang and not ONCE while my things were in anyone's hands did anyone tried to call me. So, unless this particular Plato's Closet uses psychic powers, no one attempted to contact me. I have utilized Plato's Closet in other cities, and I have never felt so unwelcome or treated as poorly as this particular location. (I would also like to note that was given a fair price for my items, so my feelings of mistreatment do not stem from any sort of resentment for how much or little I was paid.) I would definitely not recommend this location to anyone. read more

It's like any other Platos closet... Decent used teeny bopper trendy style cheap clothes and shoes for sale for guys and girls... And they buy your used clothes... (But you might have to wait like two hours before they have time to go thru it)... And if you end up buying stuff... Make sure u wash it before u wear it... read more

The fact that employees are guaranteed first pick of the items that come in is ridiculous. They shouldn't be allowed to touch any items until they are on the floor for at least a day or two. Ruins the entire shopping experience. read more

I brought my items not long ago for the first time. I had many Ralph Lauren, barely used items that they did not take. But they took things that were bought from Target. That does not make sense to me. The only problem was that the clothes did not fit anymore. Will not go back! read more

I absolutely DETEST this place and I am not one to leave reviews on anything, but felt the need to do so here! Three years ago I brought in a box of my clothes and shoes to sell and left with the same box loaded with all of my "gently used" items; try "never wore once" items (not to mention that if you just glance at their clothes all you see is over-washed t-shirts, stained skirts and shoes with the previous owner's foot print permanently imprint in them.) I vowed I wouldn't go back to buy or sell after sending an email to corporate, but decided to give the crummy place another shot; yeah right. This time I brought clothes I had NEVER WORN (rompers, dresses, blouses) all from high-end boutiques and Plato's go to label, Forever 21. They bought nothing! I was floored. I couldn't believe it. Unless you're selling skin tight jeans, crop tops or whatever they consider to be "in style" at the moment don't even consider this place! You're wasting your time. read more

I seldom go to Plato's to shop, but I know they buy your clothes. I'm a poor college student so I could use all the money I can get. So I get there a few minutes before 7, and I walk in with my pile of clothes in my arms (never gave clothing here before). So the lady I see when I walk in asks if I have a bag, luckily I remembered that I had a draw string bag in my trunk. So I go to my trunk and, in order to fit all the clothes, I had to individually role each one up. So by the time I finish this, it's precisely 7:03. I walk back into the store and they tell me that they stopped excepting clothing at 7... and what confusing me, is you asked me to put them in the bag, so you can personally take them all out again... what's the purpose for this? And then what was the purpose of putting the clothes in the bag of they realized that it was close to the time of when they stop accepting clothing.....
