I don't really know why this place has such bad reviews. I really like the staff here. Everyone is always friendly and helpful when I have questions. Especially when I sell. I always ask a million questions because I've only sold a couple of times, and no one has ever been rude. Even when I've asked why they've passed on some of my things. I don't really get why people get all up in arms about the clothes they don't want anymore anyway ‍ I like this location because it's bigger and always organized when I go in there. Their evaluation of clothes are too high of standards. This is supposed to be to be a "gently used" buy here sell here! Not "brand new"! If they want you to be a retail clothing store then stop accepting only "brand new" customer clothes and buy them from a manufacture/retail wholesaler! read more

Not a fan of this location. They are quite snotty and seem to buy only from their friends. We have brought MissMe jeans, Victoria Secret, American Eagle and other name brand items and they never seem interested. They rarely have cute stuff anymore as well... I really wish they would train/hire better. read more

Do NOT I repeat do NOT go to this Plato's Closet!! If you live far away from this location, unless you have something to do it is a waste of time! We live about 45 minutes away. My fiancé and I had a total of 7 boxes and bags full of super nice hardly worn clothes that we do not like anymore or have out grown. Keep in mind, most of my clothes were sweaters and long sleeve shirts for the upcoming fall season. We go to pick up our things and they only took 6 items of mine and all the things they took were stuff that's not even in STYLE or I got THRIFTING LOL! Then, to make matters worse, they only offered $9.40 for the 6 items lol and offer more for in store credit then actual cash. My suggestion and opinion? Sell your nice things on Facebook or just have a yard sale! read more

Literally gave them an $80 jacket and got offered $5 dollars for it I literally got that jacket two months ago. So let my first start off by saying that I have written a total of 2 reviews on Yelp, as the previous two deserved to be reviewed, but obviously only posting 2 in a 3 year span means I'm not one to post & review a company & my experience. However, after my experience today at Plato's Closest, I needed to post my opinions to get the disgust out of my mouth. I am 25, have a Full-time job and well in no ways am I rich, I have enough money to support myself. This needs to be said because one of the first comments out of the sales manager's mouth when I came into the store was that, "I'm looking to make some extra cash", and that's why i was there. While obviously the point of bringing your clothes to Platio's closest is to make a few bucks back, I recently purged my closest and dresser of several (30+) dress shirts, tees, polos. a suit, and 2 pairs of shoes to remove the clutter and unused dress attire that was taking up more space than actually being worn. I didn't want to just toss it away, and Goodwill is for profit so I wanted to give Platio's closest a shot before I donated the rest of the stuff to the Salvation Army. I brought my clothes in neatly folded in a wash basket, and the sales manager after labeling me as simply as another typical money motivated teen just trying to make a buck, took down my phone number and scanned my ID, and told me they were on an hour 1/2 wait. Disregarding there was legit more sales reps then customers in the store I didn't mind the wait, even though my last experience with Platio's, they did it then and there. I explained I'd have to stop by the following day as I had a wedding to attend a few hours following my stop at Platio's. The manager told me they would text me and let me know when it was ready and while I could of misunderstood, I left believing that I was going to be notified when it was ready and how much I would be receiving. So I received my text, however it just said it was ready, didn't tell me how much all my item tallied up. I gave them a call and the first sales rep I spoke with was hesitant providing this info on how much $ for my clothes as it was confidential (again, this is my items, i paid for them originally, they are Platio's possession who is trying to make an offer, yet cannot provide me this info over the phone. After a few back and fourths, she brought her manager in to get involved who I originally spoke with. The manager told me they could not provide this info to me over the phone because "just anyone could come pick your payout for it". But what she neglected to acknowledge was that the took down my phone number to reach out to me, the same name I was calling her on. She says it has to be in person, that's why they collect my ID info when I first came to the store. I told the manager that i could tell her my drivers license ID and she refused and said it would have to be in person because she can't verify who I am, even though she was the one who I spoke with when I first came to the store, and if i was some random person, i could come in when she wasn't working and lie who i was to collect. This is legit for like $40 max people, I'm not coming in and getting thousands of dollars. It's a very low amount of money and the way they're treating this is like I'm about to rob millions from a bank. This is bad business, and i told the manager that and she just deflected to saying it was policy. I told her that forget the money, I'll be in tomorrow, regardless if they say my clothes are worth $5000, I refuse to do business with such a poorly ran business and policy. Take my word of advice and go somewhere better like Buffalo Exchange, or do what I now plan on doing and simply donating it to the Salvation Army to hep others in need. read more

For the first time in my life, I've had a vision impairment. I think for years I have taken the service of Plato's Closet in Grove City, Ohio for granted. It became very apparent that the staff at this store location go above and beyond to meet the needs of their customers. Tracy in particular has always been accommodating with my eldest who has special needs for years. My younger children have specific (bourgeoisie) tastes, and she remembers their sizes year after year. Autumn has also helped us this last holiday season with my limitations. They both have literally shopped for my family like Hollywood stylists, and included items I may have never included or thought of. My boys loved their merchandise from their Plato's picks more than things I bought for full retail markup at Easton. A last note would be that the entire staff is thoughtful and put store cleanliness first and foremost. They rock read more

Plato's Closet - Retail therapy - Men's Clothing Near Me - Grove City, Ohio

Just visited this location for the the first time and was happy that they bought the majority of the clothes I brought in to sell! I received $66, which I used towards my purchase. They have a good selection of shoes, but they're not organized very well so it's hard to find shoes in your size. I did find several pairs in good condition that I would have bought if I felt like indulging, haha. I ended up with a paid of over the knee boots for me, and several pairs of shorts and tops for my sisters. A lot of the regular selection was sort of "meh," older styles or a bit more worn than what I would wear, but I'm really really picky about what I wear. I found a skirt I liked but it was missing a button and the second button was super loose. I wish they had more trendy denim in my size, but it's not really their fault if they don't get it in as often. The store seemed a bit disorganized compared to the Dublin location. I did appreciate their feature racks and the circle rack with designer jeans and trendy items like Patagonia and North face! Employees were friendly and helpful! And there are definitely treasures to be found here, you just have to take the time to look :) read more

I've tried to sell my clothes there and gotten the response that 1) they were too well loved (they were new with tags) and 2) they weren't current fashion. yes the sell Rock & Revival jeans which have been out of style for at least 10 years lol. When I go to a higher class suburb (Dublin, Upper Arlington) they buy my items. This location is just down market. Avoid or when selling or buying. Their inventory is super low brow. read more

I Love this store. Great prices for name brands on used clothes!!!! Very big selection.

At least at this location they are slightly nicer than at all others. That still does not mean they give you more than $2-3 per item or take more than a handful when you bring in a huge bag full. If you are desperate for cash or room in your closet or want to feel like crap, by all means go to Platos closet, if not support the less fortunate and donate them to people in need. read more

Went to go buy a pair of shoes they posted on their instagram. $320 shoes. Walked in and they were on the shelf. I'm looking at them and about to buy when another women comes in and the lady working gives the other shoe to her. She then proceeded to make us choose who should buy the shoe when i was there first with money in hand. The other lady ended up buying them when i wasn't in the mood to argue with her over who gets to buy them. I thought you guys didn't "hold" items? read more

I can justify one star because they made the store larger, which is nice. Don't bother trying to sell anything here. I took clothes that were worn maybe twice (they were also seasonally appropriate) and a pair of shoes. They gave me $3 for the shoes and that was it. read more

Came in here on Christmas Eve to sell some scarves, a pair of boots and a coat. They give you a ticket and you can come back any time to find out what their offer is for cash. They never called me, and I came back days later only to find out they rejected the entire bag of things I handed to them. When I came back home, I found out they had taken the boots and the scarves and not told me. When I called back to the store they told me they sold them already, and are offering me a small amount of money(11 dollars) for them, even though I didn't consent to their offer. These people are crooks. Oh, and this particular location has more crappy clothes than the one on Bethel. Do yourself a favor, and put your used stuff on ebay, not give it to these people. read more

I called them a few days ago because I was interested in selling, they told me to come in at least one hour before closing for them to look through it. I brought in 3 boxes full of clothes. They must've just been either super busy or the store did not need more inventory. All that they picked out was 2 shirts and a Hollister hoodie. I was upset that they did not take anything else but I will be donating the rest of the clothes. Other than that, the staff was really nice. The store has a musty, old "rag" smell. Most of the clothes on the rack was out of style, but I don't shop around at consignment shops so maybe this is the norm. read more
