I've been to most of the plato's closet in DFW area and this branch is so nice!!! I went to their black friday sale for the first time and I was so surprised that their prices are so affordable. Even though there are brand new w/tag items, they still price it at a decent price. (i.e abercrombie shirt that had $55 tag but they priced it still as $8 since it's a SHIRT) and the staff is so friendly and I see that they take pride in their selections. you could put some people up at the front that actually greet you and smile at you instead of mumbling and giving a rude attitude to customers. the girl with very long brown hair gives off "i don't wanna work here" vibes and i wanted to put my stuff back and walk away because of the way she was looking at me with such rudeness. i just wish they had people who look like they love their job and actually greet customers instead of giving dirty looks. read more

They don't take your clothes or even look through it I saw them just stare at the bag pretending to look then just place it back down. They said it was older than 18 months which isn't true and more than half of the clothes in there is older than 18 months so find another excuse because that one is trash just like your service. I love this store but WHHHYYYYY don't they have a bathroom?!?! It's a problem with every location, and it's unacceptable. Countless times, I've had to hang my selections back on the rack and leave. The one in ft worth, sends you to Sam moon to obviously never be seen again. New location in Denton sends you to the, soon to be permanently closed brookshires.. Took me thirty min to walk there and back. For a store that serves mostly women, this is borderline offensive. read more

I used to love the Denton location, but it seems like their selection isn't as good since they moved to the bigger store. I tried both of these on today. Really sad to see that this is what their standard is now! I understand there is always some risk buying resell, but stuff that is stained and already has holes in it shouldn't be on the racks. Well I just had a terrible experience AGAIN trying to sell clothes here. It took an hour for them to look through 4 items of nice clothing, including a coat that was originally $150 that had been worn maybe twice, just to have them not take any of them. Staff was rude and didn't even look me in the eye. I'm starting to wonder if they even looked through my clothes. As for the shopping experience, it is also disappointing. Their style of clothing seems like it's meant for 12 year old girls trying to be friends with the popular kids. Like a previous reviewer said they really do pride themselves on carrying Hollister and American Eagle...no thanks. Truly hoping that they go out of business and make room for a Buffalo Exchange. I have shopped at different Plato's in several states/cities and have to say this one is probably the worst one I've come across. The staff is unfriendly, they almost always have a sign on the door saying they are done accepting clothes for the day(sometimes even in the morning this sign is up), and when you do try to sell, they almost never take anything. I have tried to sell several lightly worn or never worn items here and they barely ever buy, yet when I've looked through the store, there are items that are ripped or stained. Save your time and go to a different location or go to Thrift Giant. read more

I went on a Friday for the first time, & let me say; it was by far the worse experience I've ever had at a Plato's closet. I've been to all of the Plato's closets in DFW & I will never return to this one. Customer service is very terrible, it seemed like the workers hated their job, walking around with frowns. To top it off, I didn't get greeted, or asked if I needed help. Mind you I'm a Latina, & noticed that once a Caucasian woman walked into the store, she was definitely greeted. Upsides: 5 shirts and a pair of jeans for $15.. Yeah, I'm sold. I've found some pretty amazing finds in this packed store of awesome resale and vintage clothes. I highly suggest you spend your time looking through everything they have. You'll find a cute favorite hidden in the nooks and crannies, and it will be all kinds of nice to your pocketbook. Downsides: They really don't have interest in buying any of your stuff, unless its brand new or super trendy. I had a huge bag of awesome stuff that they didn't want anything to do with. It might also be because the store is already so packed. Point is, don't waste your time in attempting to sell stuff here unless you know it's high dollar. Also, the staff isn't too friendly. They kind of try.. in that fake, I-don't-wanna-be-here way.. but they don't affect what I find there, so I can't complain too much. Overall, a great place to shop for unique and fun clothes. My friend got a fantastic rainbow dinosaur shirt for under $5.. that alone would make me give a place 4 stars. read more

I went a few weeks back to sell clothes & the staff was so unhelpful and unorganized. They told me the wait was 20 minutes so I sat down. I ended up waiting 40+ minutes closer to an hour... so I finally ask wtf is going on and my bin of clothes was ready that WHOLE time. And the staff wasn't even apologetic or felt awkward that they made me wait almost an hour without letting me know my sale has been long completed... in regards to how much they gave me, they gave me $11 for like 5 of my items that were worth way more (some had tags) but I didn't expect much so it's not a big deal. If you are selling to free up space rather than $$$ then give it a shot, but the staff really does not have great customer service and will not acknowledge their errors. Lol read more

Hey Gals~ this place IS a rip off!.... most of the people who work here aren't having fun, & are not very friendly- it's a tough job, I know, but it's not a great vibe, so I'll head elsewhere, because so many items here are very overpriced.... I took one very large bag to sell with some super cute items that wld well and some almost brand new sandals that were a 'shoe in'- & they only took one thing! They keep repeating about how items must be like new condition and within a year and 1/2 old but there tons of stuff for sell on their sales floor with stains, rips, or absolutely very worn/old. It's a SCAM!- they're buying from some regulars or their friends and leaving the rest for an unfair and un-fun experience. In Denton there's Wayyy Better Clothes at much better prices at Thrift Giant and other thrift stores.... not to mention, it's a give away when the people who work at a 'fashion store' don't even seem like they are personally interested in the way they dress, and are not putting in effort in to enjoy fashion. Waste of time selling clothes here. The wait was about 45 minutes and they took two items out of three bags. They said it was because of age but most everything is around a year old. Everything in the store looks completely out of date and much older than any of my items, so I'm confused about their reasoning. Do NOT waste your time. read more

I totally agree with the previous reviewer. Staff isn't too welcoming but they do have a great selection. My issue with this location was that I had brought in a box full of clothes (about 25% had never been worn) and almost all of it could not be "re-sold" because of wear. What? Maybe if I had the tags it would have made it easier to see that they had NEVER been worn. I can understand the other items if the color had been faded, but the new items? Anyway, the employee who handled everything was super unfriendly (this was last summer so I'm not sure if she's still there). When I was asked if I wanted to donate my items my first instinct was to say no because I felt like they would not be donated and just re-sold in the store anyway . I know it sounds like I'm full of my clothes here but that's the vibe I was getting from the employee. I'm not going to give a naive review about how they won't buy my clothes or never offer me that much money- I've resold many of my clothes to Plato's closet and other resale shops like Buffalo Exchange, and the experience rarely brings in a substantial amount of money. The most I've ever made at Plato's closet is probably $60, but this review is not based on how much I sell- it's on the store's inability to allow me to sell. I've been by the store multiple times to sell and every time I stop by there is sign out front saying they are no longer buying for the day. I try to go by earlier in the day but it never seems to be early enough. The kicker was today, when I went by at 2pm, only to see that the sign said to come back at 5pm if you wanted to sell.... seriously? If you only buy at certain hours, please make a consistent policy. Additionally, the last time I was actually able to sell (last month), I dropped off my clothes, and came back an hour later only to find they had passed on every item I brought in. The girl at the counter told me that they were no longer buying winter clothes. Maybe it would be easier to know they were no longer purchasing winter clothes if they had a sign like Buffalo exchange does outlining what they are looking for. Their "wanted" signs are always super generic, and they never seem to match what they actually buy. For reference, brands like Fossil, Calvin Klein, or more indie brands never sell well here. They often even pass on my H&M and Forever 21 clothes. However, lower end brands seem to be all they have in the store-ie: Target, Old Navy, American Eagle. My suggestion, IF you are able to actually catch them at a time they are buying, bring in the lower end brands and save nicer or actual vintage items for Buffalo Exchange in Dallas. read more

I've been in here a few times and the staff has always been helpful. They have some really good finds, but it is a huge pain trying to look through clothing jam packed on the racks. Every once in a while I'll come across something that looks downright nasty. I have never tried to trade anything in, so I can't comment on that, but the prices here are very reasonable. read more

Very unfriendly staff. I brought several items here that were bought within a year and they only took my name brand athletic shorts. They gave me $8 for items that easily costs 3x that amount each. Also, I came back to look around and see if I liked anything they were selling. The staff gossiped about "hideous clothes that customers brought in" and other negative comments about some of the clothes that were on the racks. They did this right in front of me. I have bought several items from the Denton Platos and decided to send my daughter and her boyfriend down (an hour drive) to consign quiet a few of our name brand items and theyl staff was not only RUDE but only accepted 3 items. The kids decided to go to the Flower Mound Platos and they took everything except 2 things and were very kind and helpful. If you are trying to run a successful consignment store, you might want to get some nicer help and be more willing to look over the items brought in. Everything we took was name brand and in excellent condition. There was no need to act the way they did. I will not be going back to Denton Platos Closet, that's for sure. read more

I think that it's funny that 'vintage' is listed for this store because every time I've been there it is a sea of American Eagle T's, forever 21 and those country jeans with rhinestones of them. I have found a few things here, but it's a trip that I rarely make because I know that 85% of the time it will be disappointing.. You are better off making the trip to Dallas to Buffalo Exchange (a wayyyyyy better company). Buffalo Exchange come to Denton!!!!!! I forgot to mention that they try to sell things at prices that are wayyy to close to retail. And at least in the original retail store I know it won't be stained. read more

I even had a pair of barely worn true religion jeans in there. They didn't take a single item. What a waste of time. I love this location! The employees are super helpful and super nice! They have amazing quality and selection of clothes in all sizes! It is honestly the most organized and clean Plato's I have been to. They are always having sales and always smiling! I come here all the time! These people are extremely rude. I had my stamp card with me today and she refused to stamp it even though my total was 9.97. Seriously I was infuriated. Yes, I know it says every $10 but it's really close and the sales clerk didn't have to be completely rude about it. I understand policies but there is ways to give bad news. I went to this location today. I took a big trash bag of nice clothes that my boyfriend and I cannot fit anymore. Some of it was probably not really their style but other stuff was very nice and almost brand new. When I returned they said that the clothes were not in style and they were faded. When I looked in the bag the clothes were still folded and placed exactly he way I set them. Mine and my boyfriends appearance wasn't the best because we had been cleaning and throwing stuff out so we looked rough. I feel like the clerk was discriminating in the way were were dressed. I spent the morning cleaning out my closet and drove to the opposite side of town only to find a handwritten sign on the door that read, "We are not accepting items right now. Check back after five." "Check back?" Does that mean that they might or might not look at my clothes if I drive all the way back over there at 5? Do I need to schedule an appointment to have them look at my stuff? Most resale shops, used bookstores, etc. have their buyers working all the time so that customers are not inconvenienced in this way. I doubt I'll bother burning up more gas to drive back. I am sure I would have shopped while I waited and possibly given them some business! And it's not like I was expecting a huge payout. I just wasted my time. Now I'm aggravated and will take my clothes to Buffalo Exchange next time I'm in Dallas instead. read more

I went there waited for hours with my very pretty forever 21 clothes which i bought from their juniors sections, and the sales associate tells me after taking a peek at the clothes that they would not sell in their store???????? seriously? there's a pair of denim jeans in there? if you looked closely. I will not sell or purchase anything from this store. I had brought in some of my daughters designer jeans and tops some still had the original store tags on them because they were never worn. For example a pair of jeans (Missme) that the tag was still attached and they sold for $98 they offered me $10 for then and while I was waiting for them to total up my clothes I looked on the racks and found a pair of Missme jeans that were worn out as far as Im concerned and they were priced at $48.00. Insane! Im guessing they made a $40 profit on those jeans!! That's a bit excessive. Not to mention that the racks are crammed full and it hard to look through the racks. Also found some clothes that I would have used as rags. Just a scam if you ask me. You could get more for your clothes at a yard sale then selling to Platos closet!! read more

Platos Closet all in all is a great way to find cute clothes if you dont mind digging. BUT you have to pick a store in a well off town...Denton....no. I walked in today with my stuff and the staff were all talking to each other. Didnt say hi didnt come over to me to take my things. So...I grabbed the sheet of paper, filled it out, and asked, "Do I leave this here?" Thats when one girl (who looked very annoyed) said yes in a fake sort of happy tone. I looked around for about 30 minutes. Sat and waited for another 30 while my bin just layed on the ground. FINALLY I was fed up and asked if my things were done. One girl said yes, went through the spiel that the ones in my container were too used or outdated (I recycle my clothes out each season ALL were purchased within the last 2 months from abercrombie, hollister, and forever 21 and the rest NEVER WORN) but guess what they bought? A wallet from the dollar store, a ring I got for free, and 2 very shrunken dresses. HAHA...thanks for the $20 guys! I come in here atleast once a month to sell crap I dont wear (rotating my clothes) and this is an every visit sort of thing. Needless to say...they are very confused on what fashion is, what used looks like, and lastly customer service.
