Speaks for itself...

On October 5th, 10:45 am I was appalled by the lack of professionalism and extent of ablism that conspired today at Plato's closet at the Lewis and Clark location in Clarksville, Indiana. I came into this location with my mother with the intent of selling our clothes. Upon walking in with 2 baskets, I was told that the rule for the location was that they accepted 1 basket per car, not per person even though there were no other people waiting to get their items looked at. My mother is unfortunately currently disabled and unable to drive. When I brought this to the attention of the workers, they said it didn't matter, and that policy is policy. This was understandable for the workers to say since they were following orders, so we politely asked if there was a manager present that we could ask to possibly override this for a situational exception. The workers said there was not one there, and refused to call and ask. We asked for the phone number ourselves to talk to the manager, and the two workers ignored us. Upon asking a second time, they refused. Having exhausted all our options, we asked for the workers names, to which they laughed and refused. We were left with no option but to take a picture of the workers (included) who were extremely disrespectful. They told us that they would allow us to leave one basket, but that if they saw us step off the property, they would not give us cash for any of our items. Angry and appalled with the treatment of customers, we left. I would not now, nor ever recommend anyone to this location, where it seems like the employees are trained to be embarrassingly incompetent.

Exchange policy given to me at time of purchase

I was told no exchanges when I tried to exchange my purchase!! I was told they are not doing that related to Covid!! Well we are no longer in a pandemic and your company is still purchasing from outside individuals so what is the difference!! Plus see attached is copy of exchange policy I was given at time of purchase!!

Store front

I've been going to Plato's Closet for about 8 years now to sell clothes. This is BY FAR the worst experience I have ever had. The two blonde girls working were beyond rude, gave me $15 for 8 ITEMS, and didn't even tell me when my transaction was over or say thank you. When I asked to see what my prices on my items were, they showed me a receipt that you couldn't even read the prices off of. I asked for a receipt and they said that they can't give me one. I've worked customer service for years and know how hard it is, but this was below the bare minimum for service.

The workers are very rude. Both were on phones and one girl was just sitting on the desk. Plato's is so disappointing in this area. :(

Rip off! The customer service is also very very poor. The workers are rude. Wish I could give zero stars.

I didn't catch the cat's name when I was there, but Vintage Shop Kitty is super friendly and seemed to be receptive to pets. Besides cats, this place also has some really cool clothes -- all of them old, and all of them carefully curated and thoughtfully chosen. I can tell when a vintage clothing store has done its due diligence when I flip through the racks and I want to buy more than a few things. I was THIS close to buying a Western pearl snap shirt, but really: how many pearl snap shirts does a girl need? Regretfully, I put the shirt back on the rack. Hopefully, some other savvy person snapped it up. The Odd Shop has a lot of clothing, but it has just as much vintage toys, records, ephemera and trinkets for sale. Walking into the store is like walking into your (or probably my) childhood, because there are so many things from the 1980s and 90s for sale. So many Smurfs dolls! Mickey Mouse roller skates! Easy-Bake Ovens! It's a blast from the past here.

At first I was confused on the items being for sale versus the store's personal collection but began to notice price tags on many items. It's a small space to share with shoppers and the worker so no issue to be taken care of if you have questions on an item. Many items are in "as is" condition, or maybe better described as well loved. If you're a collector, this might be a spot for you. I found it a bit crowded and overwhelming so a quick glance through was enough. (I would not recommend bringing small kids to this shop) Easy to find street parking. Also, if you love cats, there are two here to greet you.

Everytime I visit, this spot just keeps getting better and better!…read more I visited for the first time in awhile just a couple of weeks ago. And I had found that it once again expanded even more within the giant warehouse it occupies. It is quite easy to get lost in the maze of booths, but you're guaranteed a lot to look at along the way. Fleur de Flea is as much of an experience as it is a shopping spot. There are several midcentury modern furniture booths, as well as others selling all manner of art, jewelry, books, clothes, records, plants and more. On my most recent visit, I came away with a book of the script of a show I really love and a fun T-shirt. Fleur de Flea also sells cocktails and other drinks if you'd like to sip while you shop, and it's very pet friendly. You're likely to see a pup shopping alongside its owner, and Fleur de Flea's resident doggo can be found sitting on the counter by the cash registers. This is a spot that is becoming uniquely Louisville for me. I love it so!

Spending an hour here (preferably on the weekend with a cocktail) is one of my favorite shopping adventures! Great staff and they know their stuff! All part of the adventure!

We stopped in yesterday after lunch and spent close to 45 minutes looking around. The store itself isn't huge but it's bigger than it looks from the outside and there is a great selection of things for sale. They seem to have everything from clothing to jewelry to accessories to matchbooks and even old Playboy magazines. I was very impressed with most of the prices that I saw because honestly they seemed pretty reasonable compared to what I typically see at vintage/thrift stores these days. They were even having a sale on swimsuits! The lady working was also friendly and offered her assistance but also left us alone to peruse which I always appreciate. Ultimately all we purchased yesterday was a mood ring but the kiddo is saving her money for clothes and wants to come back when she's ready to add to her wardrobe so we will definitely be in again. The Neon Flea is a nice addition to the neighborhood!

It's not for the weak - you will get hot and after an hour or two, feel your back being sore. Bins seem to be flipped out each hour, starting the hunt all over. It's a collection of seasons, sizes, age and gender groups. Also towels, blankets, costumes and other material items are tossed in with clothing. Blue lines are along the floor and customers must stand behind them as bins are flipped. Customers pull carts through and pile them high, usually with a final glance before weighing the purchase. We paid $1.99 per lb. Service at the register was super friendly. There's a lot of workers on the floor and in the back room sorting. This is a smaller bin store as compared to Preston Hwy in Louisville, but still has plenty to shop. A bit addictive. Large parking lot - and a Goodwill store next door. We left with a massive amount of hoodies, jeans, t-shirts, shoes, and a few decor items for about $40. Two hours of family fun!
