What can I say about this particular location of Plato's Closet? A lot more than I'm going too but here it goes . I started my adventure on a Tuesday arrived at the store at 10:09 (they open at 10) only to be told they already stopped buying. So Wednesday back I go again arrived around the same time, same result. Repeat for Thursday as well. Once again on Friday this time I notice a handwritten sign that basically says (due to volume no drop offs will be allowed) no problem I never just dropped my things off anyway so I enter the store and totes are all over the counter area but not even one person in the store so apparently their sign meant nothing but I'm thinking no problem however once inside the lady behind the counter informs me once again that she can't take any more today. This again was about 10:05, so in that 5 minutes there were approximately 10-12 totes that had been dropped off. So needing the money I decided to try one last time and arrived before their 10am opening time, this time I didn't have to be told they were gone buying because it is now 10:21am and there is still no one at all at the store. Not open at all. Needless to say this is the last straw for me. I won't be back to sell or shop, EVER! My suggestion if you need the service Plato's provides go to one of Louis ille locations. Literally terrible. Receipt says EXCHANGES WITHIN 7 DAYS. I just went in here for the first time yesterday. I drove over 30 minutes back today to return to items for an exchange just for the lady at the front to tell me that the manager left at 3 PM and no other manager was going to be there until close and it's until 9 PM. They said that only the manager can do exchanges so I said could you see if your coworker could do it or could you contact your manager and see if you're allowed to do it because I'm not driving 30 more minutes back and there's not any sign anywhere that says only the manager can do them and it was literally a Monday at 4 PM . I looked around the store and waited for 40 minutes just for the manager to get back with the other coworker and tell her that there's no exchanges available. It's final sale for literally all items and I said well could I sell you the two items because I don't know what to do and she said oh we stop sales at 1 PM. We can't do anything about that. They were literally open until 9 PM. They stopped taking stuff at 1 o'clock And they don't do exchanges even though it's on the receipt. I reached out to corporate because this is bull crap. I will never shop in another Plato's closet again because y'all left a terrible taste in my mouth. Y'all wasted almost an hour of my time and I didn't even get the two items that I was going to exchange for because I don't think y'all deserve my money. On October 5th, 10:45 am I was appalled by the lack of professionalism and extent of ablism that conspired today at Plato's closet at the Lewis and Clark location in Clarksville, Indiana. I came into this location with my mother with the intent of selling our clothes. Upon walking in with 2 baskets, I was told that the rule for the location was that they accepted 1 basket per car, not per person even though there were no other people waiting to get their items looked at. My mother is unfortunately currently disabled and unable to drive. When I brought this to the attention of the workers, they said it didn't matter, and that policy is policy. This was understandable for the workers to say since they were following orders, so we politely asked if there was a manager present that we could ask to possibly override this for a situational exception. The workers said there was not one there, and refused to call and ask. We asked for the phone number ourselves to talk to the manager, and the two workers ignored us. Upon asking a second time, they refused. Having exhausted all our options, we asked for the workers names, to which they laughed and refused. We were left with no option but to take a picture of the workers (included) who were extremely disrespectful. They told us that they would allow us to leave one basket, but that if they saw us step off the property, they would not give us cash for any of our items. Angry and appalled with the treatment of customers, we left. I would not now, nor ever recommend anyone to this location, where it seems like the employees are trained to be embarrassingly incompetent. read more

This place is a joke. Only "one tub per day per person per car". They also make you wait in the store and can't leave until they are finished looking through your things. If there is a bunch of people ahead of you, too bad. They also never have cash to offer and usually just say "we are out of cash and can offer you store credit". I thought the motto was "we pay cash for clothes" not "we give credit for clothes because we never have cash" read more

This place is a joke. I drove 30 mins just for them to say they were out of money and they weren't buying anything for the rest of the day. They told me to come in the next morning at 10am when they had money... so I did. I was the first one to walk in when they had opened and they said we're not buying our manager is out did you not see the sign on the door. This place posts nothing online and you don't know if they will take your clothes until you've wasted your time and money paying for tolls. They also have bs rules about them only taking clothes that are in plastic tubs and limit you to one tub per car per day. I've been to other plato's closet and have never had this much trouble and frustration with trying to sell my clothes. read more

Awful customer service. Employees talking down to people and gossiping rudely and loudly about them when they leave. Quote "Be patient and have a cookie, we'll get to you when we're ready" about two girls that asked if their order was sorted yet. Super rude when they called me- so rude that I gave up and left everything there instead of picking up money, just so I wouldn't have to deal with the employees. I was told no exchanges when I tried to exchange my purchase!! I was told they are not doing that related to Covid!! Well we are no longer in a pandemic and your company is still purchasing from outside individuals so what is the difference!! Went to plato's to sell my big bin of clothes that i just went through for college and it was a great experience! i think they are in need or more teenager or young adult clothes (college or high school styles) so they took a lot of my clothes. i got $92 for 33 items which is pretty good. we waited about 2 hours for it but we were 7th in line when they opened, and if you want cash, get there in the morning before they open. Mindy and Meredith were the 2 working up front and were very welcoming and nice to have conversations with. Will be returning again if i need to sell! read more

I've been going to Plato's Closet for about 8 years now to sell clothes. This is BY FAR the worst experience I have ever had. The two blonde girls working were beyond rude, gave me $15 for 8 ITEMS, and didn't even tell me when my transaction was over or say thank you. When I asked to see what my prices on my items were, they showed me a receipt that you couldn't even read the prices off of. I asked for a receipt and they said that they can't give me one. I've worked customer service for years and know how hard it is, but this was below the bare minimum for service. read more

Would select zero stars if i could. This location in clarksville indiana is very rude and unwelcoming. The fact you are choosing this business to buy your clothes and the employees are so rude really makes me not want to give them any business at all. i called in the morning to ask about buying policies and as i was speaking the very rude little girl that answered the phone immediately cut me off and was extremely rude. not sure if plato's closet trains their employees to be nasty but someone should re build their customer service teachings since that's what the whole business is. Have been here many times to attempt to sell clothes. First time I went at 2:30 pm and was told they were out of money and couldn't buy any clothes. Told me 10:00 am was the best time to come. I went back 3 times at 10:00 am only to encounter lines that would result in an hour to two hour wait which would be fine if you were able to leave and come back (like you can at "Once Upon a Child,"), but it's apparently mandatory that you wait in the store (an obvious ploy to get you to shop while waiting). Having other obligations, I am unable to wait in the 10:00 am lines. I went back today at 11:30 am and was again told they were out of money and only giving "store credit." What kind of comoany, that's in the consignment business, doesn't keep enough cash on hand to operate the main part of their business by accepting clothes all day long? The ladies (who weren't necessarily rude, but definitely not friendly) seemed to be quite aggravated at the fact that people "bleed them dry" every morning bringing in clothes at opening. Maybe they should suggest to the owner that if enough cash was kept on hand where customers could bring their clothes in at any part of the day, they wouldn't have such an influx of people in the mornings. Unfortunately, I will be finding another business to take my tote full of 90% name brand items to. read more

There's tons of options of clothing, shoes, purses, jewelry and more! Almost to the point of being overwhelming, so when I come I definitely plan to be there for a while. Only thing I wish, is for the staff to be friendlier. They all just stare at you and you feel judged. Just really bad customer service and I come here all of the time. I've had a few less than pleasant experiences here. Staff that has outwardly tries to get customers not to sell their clothes. They say they're too busy and to come back another time. The clothes selection is decent, they have all of the basics at a decent price. As for trendy clothes, I think they miss the mark a little. The store is usually not very clean. If I could leave zero stars, I would. The staff at this location are complete trash. Aside from looking like they belong in an addiction treatment program, they constantly disrespect the customers and seem to truly hate their jobs. Right after masks became optional, my son and I visited the store and were made fun of for wearing our masks. The girls working that day talked about us loudly, pointed, and laughed. Even in the height of the pandemic, the staff would wear their masks like chin straps. Absolute trash. read more

I have been in customer service for over 13 years and I have never received such rude service ever. This location needs to terminate the entire staff and start again with proper and mature management. Lets start with the overall condition of the store. The parking lot was extremely rough and unmaintained, with large potholes that would damage anyone nice car. Furthermore they could care less whether you brought them in 100 dollar shirts or old navy they sort through it as if it were garbage wad it up and stuff it back in the container. No smiles, no welcoming words or anything! Please do not even bother you will be wasting your time and insulting the workers because they evidently feel discussing who they have slept with recently is more important than giving the customer whom if it was not for they would have no business. Please it is more rewarding to donate your good to a thrift store than thinking they will give you anything towards what your items are worth. read more
