If you go in there looking for SHEIN ya the deals are gonna suck, but if you actually take the time to go thru the racks you can find amazing pieces. For example, I combed thru the racks and found a Coach purse, Juicy Couture purse, Guess purse, Lululemon pants, Lulus dress, etc. I didn't buy nothing because I just wanted to window shop but this was just me gently combing the racks and I found these goodies. In amazing almost new condition. Some even still had tag on. I like to be alone when thrifting but I saw the staff helping out other customers. read more

Today's visit went ok. They changed their sale system. They will ask you to scan a QR code to enter the sales que when you arrive. Today I brought them an entire filled to the brim bin of clothing, shoes, accessories, denim. I made $15 for 5 items. Not really sure what they are currently looking to buy from the public as I usually call before hand to find out and well they didn't take any of the other items in the bin. If you're looking to just get rid of stuff this is the place! Customer service is always been ok at best. They are polite and get the job done and that's all you need to complete a transaction. As im finally ready to pay for my items im patiently standing at a register in front of one of the girls (for about 5 minutes) who helped me earlier. Took a huge bag of spring/summer clothes to sell. Got a text not 10 minutes after dropping off that it was ready...went back in the store and was told they were not taking anything due to "inventory and style". The cashier told me "it's because you have all sweaters in this bag and we're looking for spring and summer clothes", as I looked at several short sleeve dresses and flowy tank tops in my bag. Place is very dirty and unkept. Same goes with the employees. They look like they haven't showered in a week the place reeks of feet and who knows what else. Don't bring your stuff here. I've never had a problem with their customer service. I mean it's a group of emo kids trying to make money so it's pretty much what I expect from a thrift shop. There is this one girl, I don't know if it's just her natural resting face, but she looks super sad for some reason. Anyways, the only problem I have with this store is it's super hard to shop because the clothes are insanely tight sometimes. I try to push them around to look and I'll accidentally break a couple hangers in the process. On the flip side store smells really good. Usually thrift shops smell horrible because of the odor from reselling used clothes, but no this place actually smells really nice. Also, their music Lowkey sucks 75% of the time. I've heard some good songs, but most of the time it's trash EDM and house remixes. I don't know why it's rated so low though, it's not a bad place. read more

Store is very cluttered, which is probably why they do not take much. Sign in process was quick, and they sent me a text message when my buy was done. They only took 5 of the 30+ items I brought in, but the cash amount was not bad. Would come back only if I had a lot of items to sell. read more

when I walked in I tried speaking to the two young girls at the register, and I quickly realized that they had no interest in talking to me, or helping me. They just wanted to get back to their conversation and made me feel like I was bothering them then when I went to check out the skinny blonde girl with dark roots was extremely rude again. She acted like she was so annoyed that she had to take two seconds to check me out and basically threw my clothes to me and replied, "we don't have bags" she said it in a tone that was just really disrespectful. It's hard to explain in text. I just know that I will never go back in there. I don't like being disrespected. They definitely need to hire a different type of staff to work there. read more

I stopped coming here years ago and now I remember why. I gave it another shot yesterday and yet again they disappointed. I took two big bags of clothes and shoes "name brand" items as they requested. They took 3 items out of everything and over half of it had brand new tags. Most of it was long sleeve and fall items with me thinking since we are approaching fall weather, they would take more of it. I had a pair of Nikes fly knits that I literally wore one time and they offered me 6 dollars for. I was shocked, because when I looked at their shelves they had old ragged shoes that they were still charging 40 bucks for! I asked why they only took so few items and they stated due to inventory, after me waiting over an hour for them to go through my things. I mentioned they could have at least said they were being extra picky about what they take if it was "due to inventory" and let me decide if I wanted to wait or go elsewhere. This place is a joke. They have a bunch of young teens working there that clearly don't know the value of clothing and do the exact opposite of what there website online is requesting for most wanted items. I will no longer return here and just donate my items to someone who can use them instead of helping this store rip people off who are buying second hand clothing. Don't waste your time! They will just frustrate you and you leave with almost everything you came in with. read more

Do not donate your clothes to this location, it is a waste of time. The clothes that are out hanging up are not the best at all and they will not take half of your clothes. I brought in a bin full of very popular brands, pacsun, ohpolly, zara,etc and was only offered $17, even when there was stuff from ross hanging up. Dont waste your time!!! read more

Plato's closet is basically my favorite consignment store. They pay you cash up front! And they pay you a pretty decent percentage, so you won't walk away feeling robbed. It's better to call them ahead and see exactly what items they need since sometimes they're too stocked or its out of season. As just a shopper, I'm pretty happy with them as well. They carry such a variety of clothing and even carry menswear. You can even find name brand items like Michael Kors, Coach, Dooney & Burke and Vera Bradley for the low low. read more

Poor quality of clothing for the price tags when you can go by new for similar items. 2 workers were in the women's jean isle with me, shoes were everywhere on top of all the hangers which made it very hard for me to access let alone look at. I brought in a large storage box full of clothes to sell. many items were worn once or still with tags, all were mall brand. pretty dresses, stilletto heels. i know their standards because ive been taking stuff for years, but this was ridiculous. they took three items out of probably 50. what a waste of my time and effort. dont bother. lots of consignment shops in st pete that will be happy with these. staff was rude and dismissive all except for one kind young man with curly hair. read more

I brought in a whole laundry basket of barely used mens clothes that my son either out grew too fast or didn't like. The sizes ranged from 14 all the way to what an 18-24 yr old would wear. They turned all but 6 items down. Saying it was too mature. Your website says you need guys clothes. You need to do better. Teens wear mens clothing sizes like 32 &34 waist. My son is 13 and wears adult clothes. This was ridiculous, this is why your stores never have enough guys clothing. read more

To be honest I really don't like Plato's Closet. They gouge their prices on items that you would normally pay $2 for at a Goodwill or any other thrift store. In fact, you might as well just go to a TJ Maxx or Marshalls to get the same items NEW for the same price or even sometimes for a lower price! For example, I've see worn-out, no-name dresses at Plato's for $12. You could get a much nicer, brand new, no-name dress for $10 at TJ Maxx. In my opinion, the only plus side to Plato's is that you have the option of selling your old clothes there- as long as they are very, very, very lightly used. I've sold quite a few items there over the years, and I never ever get an amount close to what the item is worth. for example, I sold a sun dress that I paid over $20 for and only wore twice for $2.10. You will never make a ton of money, but I guess it is nice to make some money instead of just giving it all away for free. read more

I have never been here before but wanted to check them out as I have crates full of really good clothing. I wasn't sure if they just take teen and early 20ish style clothing as advertised. Once I entered I was overwhelmed by how much they had in a small store. Row after row of clothing all colored coded and by size. Hard to even decide where to begin. In the entrance was a $1 & $2 rack which had some awesome items on it. Can't beat those prices if you find something you like. Shoes were really hard to find what the sizes were though. People were bringing in lots of items to sell and the staff immediately attended to them. Not your typical consignment shop as they don't pay you when your items sell but rather when they accept them from you. I am not sure if this works out well but I will be back next week with my loads of items and see what I can fetch for items I don't wear anymore. Anything is better than nothing which is what they are worth to me right now sitting in storage crates. read more

My absolute FAVORITE place to shop (and sell clothes to buy more clothes) because the staff is very friendly and they do their best to finish my buy even if they're swamped with other tasks. The manager, Ashton does a good job keeping everyone on task! The other employee that stood out was the small curly haired man, VERY friendly and VERY helpful. Worst experience I've ever had at Platos Closet!!! It was my first time in this store yesterday and every single employee was rude and gave little to no information. It seemed as if my presence in the store was bothering the employees. I dropped off clothes to them and after waiting 30 minutes, I asked again how long my clothes would be and they told me 1 hour. I ended up leaving and not even 10 minutes later, I got a message saying my clothes were ready. I went back today and they told me that they didn't take anything due to "overstock". If they were overstocked you think they would turn you away when you first get there. The attitude from the employees left me thinking that I in some way offended them and that that was the reason that nothing was taken. Nothing in my bag looked like it was even touched. If I could give this store and it's employees zero stars I would. Very disappointed. read more

Would never even recommend this place to anyone- I brought 3 bags in and they notified me my transaction was ready, I went there and they gave me some money and a basket of items that were not mine so I gave the money back and in the end they went and donated my clothes- they apologized and offered me a store gift card. Plato's Closet is always a good stop to pick up some cheap used brand name clothes or to sell it off. They don't pay you a ton of money for selling your clothes, but I suppose if you factor in the cost of re-selling your item to the store than it is a fair payment, and honestly I am too lazy to go through the trouble of selling my clothes myself on a site like E-Bay. Workers are usually pretty friendly and they can usually process your clothes and give you a quote really quick. It's always a nice option to have one of these around. read more
