After several attempts, 7 months worth, to collect payment on thousands of dollars from freelance work that was done for this company, I have still remained unanswered from the owner. For a small business, this is extremely damaging. I had to adjust all of my operations to accommodate the lack of funds. I ultimately decided to terminate my work due to Cody's unresponsiveness. Who knows how long this would've gone on for? A contract was signed, and multiple payments are due. As a business owner, do not take on work or hire external help if you can't afford to pay them. This company installed a pergola through Mirage Custom Pools less than 1 year ago. A few weeks ago we noticed that there are many areas where the stain has severely faded. I received Platinum's information from our pool contractor and contacted them regarding this issue. I was told to send them the photos and they would reach out. It has been several weeks and I have not heard anything back. I have texted and called on multiple occasions. It's very disappointing when a company doesn't seem to want to stand behind their product. Update 5-19-20: Cody Brooks contacted me late yesterday evening and explained to me what had happened and why I was not contacted in a timely fashion. He assured me that the problem would be resolved and sure enough, Anthony and his crew arrived first thing this morning. They were very nice and took care of the issue in a timely fashion. We hired Platinum to help design and build our fire pit area behind our pool. We couldn't be more happy with how it turned out both aesthetically and functionally. It is perfect!! We utilized their expertise with their use of steel, as no one else had experience with this. They built it with minimal destruction to our yard, as well. We were referred to Platinum Outdoor Environments in the Jan/Feb timeframe and worked closely with a project manager to create a covered roof extension. We were really excited about the design and process and agreed to move forward. We were in the process of building a pool, which needed to be completed before we could start the roof structure so the project manager asked us to regroup 2 weeks before the pool was complete so they could get the plan through engineering and permitting. We spoke on May 9th and gave them the green light to officially begin the project and were told it would take 3-4 weeks to get through engineering and permitting. Fast forward, as of June 19th, our project hadn't even gone through engineering. Our project manager kept saying that it takes time, he's busy with other projects, the engineer is backed up. My biggest frustration wasn't with the amount of time it was taking, but with the complete lack of proactive communication. He would say he'd have an answer on Friday and I'd have to follow up the next Tuesday for an update. That went on for weeks and we both were frustrated. He informed me that he wanted to part ways because I don't trust him. It was never about trust from my perspective, but felt like this wasn't their priority or that he had too much on his plate to get this structure started/completed. My real complaint and frustration is with the owner, Cody Brooks. When it became apparent that we weren't getting anywhere, I emailed Cody and asked him to call me. Instead of calling me, he had my project manager return my call, which obviously didn't get us anywhere. I emailed Cody again and asked to speak with him and he responded via email the next day saying he had family in for Father's Day weekend and he would call me the following Monday. He never called, so I called him on Tuesday and he didn't return my call. I sent one final email on Wednesday and he never had the courtesy to respond. My email was nice, professional and reasonable. I simply asked if there was a path forward or did we need to part ways and find another contractor. When customers spend tens of thousands of dollars with a company, it's CRITICAL that the owner of the company is invested in his employees and his clients. I am so thankful we parted ways once I realized that the communication issue we were having at the project manager level is very much part of the company culture as the example is clearly set at the highest level in their organization. I get the people are busy. I get that there are setbacks and delays. Frankly, I even get that proactive communication may not be the norm. I will not accept, however, that an owner of a company has such disregard for his clients. His company wasted 5 months of my time (Feb start and parted ways mid-June) and he didn't have enough professionalism or courtesy to simply respond to my phone calls or emails. read more

They are so untimely on a simple estimate that we were able to have two other decking companies come out and provide us with estimates when Platinum Outdoors was the *first* company we had out to provide us an estimate. Non responsive and unprofessional. I would not trust the with quality work if they cannot even communicate professionally. Hire at your own risk. Platinum Fence and Patio turned our backyard into a beautiful work of art. From design to completion their guidance and knowledge resulted in a patio that we will enjoy for many years to come. We live on a trail and our neighbors constantly comment on how nice the covered cedar patio and travertine pavers look. Sean, Justin, Cody and Nathan offer a team based approach that ensured we could get in contact of someone if any questions arose. The foremen and workers were very easy to work with as well. We are very happy we chose Platinum Fence and Patio for our project. We actually spoke to 5 different patio remodel companies before choosing Platinum. We had one other lower cost company back out at the last minute AFTER we had gone through two rounds of permitting. Other companies didn't really have time to help us realize our vision like Platinum did. Sean provided 3D renderings to help is brainstorm. What we settled on was much different than what we set out to do and we are so pleased. Any issues I had were quickly resolved and they have been receptive to questions after it is all said and done. These guys were honest through the entire process. It took about 10 weeks from the start of permitting to completion. Prosper is notoriously slow with permitting and that added to the time. Also, we had Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays as well which added a little time. We were also gone for a week due to a funeral so that held them up a bit. The only thing I would change is to not worry so much if I hired them again. When there is a lot of money on the table it is hard to relax, but they delivered so I shouldn't have been so nervous! I have used these guys several times to build arbors on each on my houses. A few of them we built at the same time as the pool. We have nothing but wonderful things to say about them. I'm surprised to see any bad reviews. In 4 years I have worked with them on 4 arbors 2 of which they worked with my pool company to construct at the same time. Platinum Fence and Patio built a cover for our patio in June 2014. We hired them because that is who our pool company contracts. Big mistake! One beam had a split the entire length and the owner refused to replace it, the owner Cody Brooks refused several times to come out to let the pool company know where the post were going to go (he wanted them to go by the drawings) his crew was out on our drive way staining 2 of the beams, therefore when it rained it stained our patio and decking, when we asked them to come out and re apply stain, Cody Brooks was extremely rude and the pool superintendent was apologizing for him. We spent over $13,000 and the roof had so many shades of brown/green planks of wood (we paid for cedar) that he had to come back a third time to re apply stain to make it all look the same. DON'T USE PLATINUM FENCE AND PATIO. Poor customer service, poor quality wood and stain. read more
