Platinum Inc. is hands-down THE best salon in Southeastern Connecticut!! After frustratingly exhausting all other options in the area, I was eager to try Platinum when they opened in 2005. As I walked in for my first appointment the professional, clean, & trendy setting was made ever so inviting by the friendly reception staff. I was greeted right away & immediately offered a beverage & magazine. My stylist then greeted me for my appointment & escorted me to her station while offering another beverage (I can never turn down the flavored Keurig coffees!). While we discussed what I wanted to do with my hair, she offered some suggestions, but without the annoying assertiveness I'd experienced elsewhere. Since I really wasn't sure what I wanted but knew I needed something different, I decided on one of her ideas. We then proceeded to the washing station which was like a comfortable lounge chair with my feet elevated. The shampoo & conditioning method felt like an amazing scalp massage - it was so relaxing I could've fallen asleep! The cut, style, & blow-dry were also beyond expectation....my hair never looked so good!! Needless to say, my fist impression was beyond positive & I've never gone anywhere else since then!! I consistently get complimented on my haircuts & color, & am always confident in referring anyone I know, & don't know, to Platinum Inc. The talented, continuously educated stylists offer the latest cuts & styles, a variety of color & highlight options, shimmerlys, & were one of the first salons in the area to offer feathers. Listen up Ladies and Gents: This is the place to go if you want service, smiles and stellar hair. I have been going to Mehera for 10+ years...I even followed her when she left another salon to start Platinum. I have moderately thick, long hair and she has NEVER give me a cut or color that I didn't like. When I leave the salon I feel beautiful and even my kids compliment my hair. You know its good hair when 8 year old boys notice! The salon is clean and friendly, the staff is young and hair educated. I have had to reschedule with other stylists when I couldn't make an appointment, and I've still been well taken care of. I have taken my 4 year old to get her hair done when she was a flower girl in a wedding and the wedding photographer took more pics of her hair then she did the brides! I highly recommend this salon for your everyday hair needs, as well as special occassion hair. I read the other review, and I'm sorry to hear about that patron's experience but I can honestly say it doesn't even remotely sound like the same salon. This salon did an amazing job with my wedding party! My hair came out amazing and lasted all night! They were so accommodating and did exactly as I asked from a picture. I could not have asked for more. Thanks to Melissa, Chrissy, and Kelly, we were all so pleased with our hair and the pictures from the wedding came out awesome! I also went back the next day to have my hair done for our wedding after party and again it looked even better then the picture I had brought with me! I would highly recommend this salon for your bridal party or any occasion, they truly cared that we were happy and offered to change anything that we we did not like! I was slightly worried based on the last review, but my mom assured me after years of going there that they are great and I am glad that I listened to her! I have gone to Platinum since they opened and I love it there. I usually see Mehera who does an amazing job on blonde highlights (which is very hard to find) but I've also seen Kelly who also does a great job. If you want a flawless mani/pedi have Melissa do your nails, she's great. I loved Platinum so much that I used them for my wedding. It was on a Sunday, when they are usually closed but they opened the salon for our party which was wonderful! We brought champagne and our photographer was able to capture our entire prep process. Melissa did my makeup in addition to my Mother and the bridesmaids and Mehera and Chrissy did hair. I should mention that I travel back from Manhattan to Norwich to get my hair done because Platinum is that great. I never get as many compliments on my hair as I do when I get it done at Platinum. I have been going to Platinum for over 5yrs now, I am a huge fan i have never received so many complements on my hair in my life!!!!!!! Each and every stylist is highly trained and they always go above and beyond in service. From the moment u walk in the door you are treated like a celebrity and every person that I have sent there keeps going back and thanks me over and over for sending them!!!!!! June 2011- Bride my daughter Dr. Lindsay Bruneau had her hair foiled and styled the day of the wedding and the following day for a wedding celebration party. Both days her hair was gorgeous. The day of the wedding my daughter Jen and the Maid of Honor had hair and make up done! Gorgeous am the biggest critic and I had my hair done that day as well.. LOVED it...and the color is beautiful in all of the pictures....Curls did last all day and the whole night....The staff was over the top and made our special weekend one to remember! I can't say enough about how much I love this salon! As someone with curly hair, and a lot of it, finding someone that knows how to cut curls the right way can be difficult at best. Fortunately, I have found an awesome team at Platinum that does an excellent job. I walk in frustrated with my uncooperative hair and I leave feeling like a new person!
