Shabby 2 Chic Salon and Spa is the place to come get your hair cut for men and women…read more I moved from Texas to Tennessee in summer of 2109. I struggled finding someone to cut my hair the way I liked from my former stylist. Additionally, for personal reasons, I enjoy a 1 on 1 experience as opposed to a place where everyone waiting can see you, though sometimes there is another customer just waiting on something to dry. It's a building that hosts multiple stylists, but I personally sign up with Jessica Jones. Not only is she amazing in her craft, she has the name of a super hero! I've always been satisfied with my hair cuts and the conversations with her are genuine. This salon is really unprofessional. Not only do they not have a way to book an appointment online,…read morebut they also don't have a receptionist. When I left a message to book an appointment with Elizabeth, I received a text from Tiffany saying Elizabeth sets her own appointments. I texted the number she gave me and received no response. After 24 hours I sent another text asking if I had the right number, and no response. It's been almost a week now I never received a text back. I confirmed with Tiffany that it was the correct number and it was. I always want to give people benefit of the doubt because life happens, but I follow Elizabeth's professional Instagram and she has been posting pictures at the salon daily. I find that so rude and unprofessional and I'm so glad I didn't spend money with Elizabeth or Glam House!

However, the other stylists and some of the patrons were rude and unprofessional when it came to a foreign woman who came to the door asking for donations. I visited this location while on vacation, and it's by far one of the stupidest things I have done…read morein recent memory. The stylist, Samantha, was reasonably personable, but did not take into consideration the requests I had and instead just kept reiterating that I needed to step outside of my comfort zone. I will admit that was partly my fault (which is why this is getting two stars instead of only one), because I didn't have a set style in mind when I sat in the chair, but my approval for "long layers" meant the topmost layer on the crown of my head ended up being about 3" long and she gave me long bangs without discussing it with me first, which was extremely disheartening since if she had she asked, the answer would have been a firm "No". I hate the haircut and it makes me super self conscious, especially since my hair grows very slowly and even after a few weeks, I cannot find a way to style it that does not result in the top layer fluffing up and leaving essentially a ridge around the top of my head. This is especially noticeable when I put my hair into a ponytail or pigtails, both styles which I specifically mentioned that I wanted to continue to be able to wear after the cut, but the top layer makes that impossible, since it's too short to capture within the hair band. After arriving home I visited another stylist who advised to just leave it alone and let it grow out; she also suggested frequent cuts to blend it better since currently the layers are "stacked". I would definitely think twice before trusting the staff at this location.

I remember, a couple of decades ago, when Great Clips was my "go to" place for a shampoo and…read morehaircut. Not anymore. If this was my first bad experience with the chain in recent times, it would be one thing. But it wasn't. This incident just happens to be the most egregious. Oddly enough, other negative reviews for this location are strangely similar to mine. Go figure. So, let's get one thing out of the way: while it may work for some people, in our experience, the Great Clips online "check-in" system is absolutely broken. You show up at your appointed time (or simply arrive early and wait for it); and either way, it's a complete waste of time. After not finding us in the system - and then talking to us as if that were somehow our fault, even though we'd done the check-in at home on our PC - we were asked multiple times for our names, then told it would be...40 minutes. And that was just for one of us. We had an appointment in just a few hours, and that would have completely screwed up our evening. So what's the point of their system? You've got me. The manager was also rude, was absolutely unapologetic about having just ONE stylist on the floor...and rather than help deal with it, took off for the day, leaving the customers to wait. And wait. And wait. No thanks. We left and went to SportsClips a couple of miles away and I was in and out in 15 minutes. I was also dealt with cheerfully and with a smile. Enough said. Choose somewhere else other than Great Clips; you'll be glad you did.
