I loved the Cabbage Patch! I walked over from the Marriott Twickenham for dinner. We sat on the…read morepatio, which was large and comfy! The inside is pretty big too. It's all "order at the bar", which I appreciated so we could relax and not have to worry about a waiter. This particular night, I was feeling a little homesick for Houston. I know, a pub is nothing like Texas, and this one feels as British as it gets! But I just needed some good food and beer to pull me out of it... And the Cabbage Patch did just that! I ordered a random beer recommended by the bartender... I still have no idea what it was. But it was deliciously hoppy and tasted like home. And the beer selection is extensive. Next, I had the burger and fries. It was such a good burger! Cooked perfectly, dressed well, and topped with great bacon (which was a nice change from the soggy bacon at the hotel breakfast buffet). My friends ordered the steak and pizza. She liked the steak but the other wasn't a fan of the pizza. We then ended it all with pudding--the Belgian Waffle and ice cream. It was amazing. I just wish I had my own and didn't decide to share one!

As we had heard people raving about the food of this pub ( and given the many good food awards…read moreadvertised) we went to try it on this hot summer day. The pub is near a supermarket ( Sainsbury's) and there is a mini park where kids were having a joyful day with the water being sprinkled in the park. Little did we know that halfway through our order one soaked kid would interrupt one of the only 2 staff working there to ask for an old pound coin and another young one coming into the restaurant in just her dirty nappy (nothing else on and water dripping from everywhere) and later playing peek-a-boo with the bartender.. Not a great sight when dining! We waited a little while for the food, could see that the kitchen had prepared it but there was no one to serve it ( we were the only ones eating) so had to help ourselves. Noisy and drunk young men shouting at the bar staff to hand them some napkins for an allegedly disabled person outside tipped it off! The food is OK but nothing extraordinary and compared with the HORRIBLE atmosphere, we will never set foot again. Totally OVERRATED.

We find that eateries near major attractions tend to up their prices to catch the tourists. The guard immediately told us of The Hampton. His advice proved well founded. Our meal was first class and the warm welcome and ambiance was well worth the short drive from the palace. My partners steak was generous and delicious. I went for their burger which was huge and very tasty. We were too full to try their deserts, but there was a large selection available. Can be recommended with confidence.
