I am so happy that i discovered Plastic Depot. i know nothing about plexi glass and needed the glass in differrent sizes etc. From the moment I walked into the door I knew I made a good choice. My glass place (Paul's Glass) referred me to Plastic Depot. I wanted white opaque-ish plexiglass for the front of my Imperial pull-out range hood instead of the usual stainless steel or wood. I had purchased one at a sign company, but the edges looked terrible and unprofessional. Plastic Depot polished the edges so nicely and the price was great! What a totally useless company... my contractor ordered some strips of milk plexi..., he finally went there today to pick up the order after being given the run around for more than THREE WEEKS... they never called him, and this was his second trip... Went here w/ my wife to have a clear acrylic display case made for one of her architectural models. This place was recommended by the CSULB design department's professors and now I can see why. When you first walk in, there is a small little store front w/ a two point of sale cashier desk, three mobile shelves, a 6' wall mounted shelf w/ odds and ends supplies and that is it. The rest of the warehouse is used for storage, manufacturing, and fabrication. It's a very utilitarian, no non-sense set up. I like that. The staff we interacted with were very friendly and knowledgeable. The owner/manager shared w/ us a lot of common pitfalls for working w/ the type and thickness of plastic and glue we had. They sell the materials and also make cases and containers of plastic of all types for jobs of all sizes. He mentioned they have jobs ranging from $10 to $10,000. All of their prices were very reasonable and even beat all the places I could find online which was impressive nowadays. They are located where the 110 and 405 meet. Parking is in a shared lot. They have ~10 spots w/ signs for their business. Everything else was labeled w/ tow away signs for the business next door so be warned. read more

Pros: Reasonable prices and excellent customer service. Cons: The location is kinda hidden. Irving's Experience: Nancy is by far the best at Plastic Depot. She's also a student and was very helpful in getting me my pieces cut and on time while saving $50 from the original price of $150. She made my whole experience here just so much better since I've never been here before. She would call anytime she had a question and left voicemails if I didn't pick up. I needed to enclose the balconies on a rental property with acrylic to protect the tenant's dogs. The staff at Plastic Depot was so professional and accommodating. Plastic Depot has the worst customer service. I will take my money to Superior Plastics. I called and placed a order over the phone with Mayra. The next day I went to pick up my order. Instead of Mayra offering if I needed help loading, she placed my order on the ground and I had to ask was anyone able to help load my car. Javier was so nice. He offered to help me with no problem. Plastic Depot needs more employees like Javier. I didn't realize the material was cut at the wrong dimensions until I got home. I called to inform Mayra that they cut the wrong dimensions. She was very rude and told me that I gave her that size, which was a lie. She insisted with a bad attitude for me to come back and they will cut the correct size that I ordered. Which they did after wasting my time and gas. Never again. read more

I didn't have the best experience with plastic depot. I'm a business owner and I called to get a quote on some material. I called back about 2 weeks later ready to place my order and the Price they gave me was different from my original quote. Different by almost $200. I asked the lady helping me why there was a price difference her response was "maybe the person giving you the quote was in a good mood that day". Witch was a BS answer. Anyways my project was time sensitive so I placed the order anyways paying much more than I was quoted. When I arrive to pick up my order The lady in the front showed me where my material was and didn't even help me Carry it to my truck. She stood there and watched me struggle to open the door. Like I mentioned above I'm a business owner and the parts I picked up we're part of a prototype I'm building. And if I go into production I would have been placing a very large order with plastic depot unfortunately for them I'm going to be looking elsewhere. Very poor customer service rude employees I would not recommend doing business with them. I've been using this place for my cut Plexi needs for about a year. Their prices are ok and they turn around orders fairly quickly. However, they often cut my Plexi orders the wrong size. I've started bringing my own tape measure to check their work when I pick it up, after having to drive back and get them to correct their errors too many times. Today I picked up 4 pieces of cut Plexi. I measured them after I paid. One of them was off by an inch. I had emailed the order so they had the sizes I needed in writing. Myra, the woman helping me, never apologized for their mistake. She took the Plexi to the back to get recut and then she returned with it and with an attitude. I need to find a new Plexi supplier because I'm fed up with their errors and with their bad attitude. read more

housed in a nondescript warehouse in an industrial area near the intersection of the110 & the 405, plastic depot offers a variety of resins, from less to more toxic, silicone for making molds, acrylic in a huge selection of colors, shapes and sizes that can be lasercut to precision with digital files or rough cut and specialized adhesives for plastic. it's really an artist's paradise when it comes to raw materials. i feel like a kid in a candy store, and my bf is tempted to tie me down. acrylic comes as sheets, hollow tubes, rods, and cost is based on size and weight. on some things, you have a choice of cast or manufactured. cast materials are of course more expensive but more uniform in size and shape. there's also a discount shelf for already cut down or leftover pieces. the guys who work here are the nicest and most helpful. if you have any kind of technical question, they have plenty of experience working with the materials. their hours are Monday thru Friday: 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. and Saturday: 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m., but you might want to call ahead as sometimes they close on sats when it's not busy. ironically, around noon on a sat can also be extremely busy0. the only complaint i have is regarding the guy who does the lasercutting. he's not really a part of the store, but has an "office/workshop" here. he charges a lot, and has an attitude. unfortunately, finding a place that does lasercutting can be a challenge. i also don't think he's all that detailed, considering how much he charges and how cocky he is. i needed some circles cut, and they had to be precise, which it wasn't. he claimed that if i gave him a file, it would be. i ended having the store rout it out (without measurements and no file), and they actually did a better job. i would only use him if you can't find someone else and want some complicated shape cut out, but really, you're paying for use of the machine. read more

SOUNDED helpful over the phone, but when I got there the guy behind the desk and the lady frequenting the counter area were extremely rude, impersonal, just fricking jerks!!! I was told by the guy behind the desk "that I had been there for over an hour", yet he was doing nothing to help me, and I told him, "it's my 'hour' too and I'm the one spending money on his business!" What an ungrateful bastard and that lady thing behind the counter was not helpful or personable, but just as rude as him and obnoxious!!! I hated the fact that I didn't know anywhere else to get the products I needed for my aquatic turtle tank. I spent $75 and YES, they are over-priced too!!!!! If it's plastic you need (or in my case, polycarbonate), this is the place to go. Well located if you're anywhere in the South Bay or even Los Angeles. Have been collaborating with Plastic Depot from when it was on Normandie with original owner, Bob Neubergh. It's the BEST plastic shop around, hands down! Owner Bill Larson is knowledgeable , friendly and easy to work with. All his employees have been with him for years, which says a lot about the operation. Nancy who is their Customer Service liaison and Front Desk/Cashier is very helpful and dedicated to the company. She keeps that place going and is often handling multiple tasks at once, often acting as the conduit between the customer and the production/shop in the back. She works great under deadlines and pressure, which can get pretty crazy with large trade show booths that they've built for me in the past. I've also seen her work with other customers in the shop with smaller jobs as well, she approaches all customers, large and small with dignity and respect. Their production and output is the best around. They produce very high quality, precise parts and furniture and display pieces. They even do a lot of work for "Fine Artists" and parts they produce are shipped all over the country. Their prices are reasonable. They perform well on a vertical scale, no job too big or too small for Plastic Depot! And they always meet their deadlines. read more

The quality of their plastics and range of fabrication options is superior, and their prices are always fair. I always take the negative reviews with a grain of salt since some customers ( I say some, not all) are just plain hard to please. That being said, the fact that they are always super busy tells you that there are many satisfied customers, despite some 1-star reviews. I would say, if you have never used them, give them a try. BEWARE!!! THIS PLACE IS A RIP-OFF WITH THE WORST QUALITY!!!! I came here to get some stuff done for my office decor. Got a quote from Bill and waited for my frames to be done and said he could have it done in a week. He gave me a quote written on an invoice that stated that he was going to be using Lucite. When I came to pick up the five frames I ordered they said they ran out of material to finish the work and was waiting for it to come in. I asked him why wasn't I given a call or anything regarding the delay and he just apologized and said the material would be in in the next few days. I said no problem. After calling and waiting with so many excuses, oh material hasn't come in, oh the guys have other jobs they have to finish, the weather is bad, his guys are sick, I got fed up and went by the place after 2 weeks of it already being late. I asked to see my order and what they've already got done. The secretary seemed confused and told me that they haven't started my order yet. I was just about to blow my fuse. After arguing with the secretary I realized that it wasn't her fault and she had nothing to do with it. I phoned Bill and told him what his secretary told me and reminded him that he told me that it was almost done and they were waiting for material to "finish" the damned frames and what do I get from him? Denial! He blatantly told me that he never said they were working on finishing my frames and he proceeded to say that they will start as soon as possible. After being so pissed, I didn't have a choice but to wait. I finally was able to pick up my frames 62 days after he told me it was going to take one week!!! You could understand how pissed I was. I went there to pick it up that day and it wasn't all the way finished. I decided just to wait there for a few hours just to make sure it was done and as the employee came to deliver the frames to me, he peeled off some paper off the acrylic with the brand name on it. I noticed that it didn't say Lucite but another brand that I'd never heard of. I brought this up with the employee and he had no clue. I asked him if this was Lucite and he said "no" and I told him that I paid for Lucite. All he told me was to talk to Bill. I then brought this up with Bill, who's the shop owner and he again, BLATANTLY told me that I was never quoted for Lucite material! I was F******** pissed at this point! I told him I wanted a refund and he said he couldn't do that because the work was already done. I said the work was done 62 days after he told me it was going to be completed, and he just said "There's nothing we can do since the work was already done." I just grabbed my frames and left the placed so heated I wanted to burn the place down. Not only did I get ripped off by paying for Lucite and not getting what I paid for, but I had to wait 62 agonizing days for it! I brought it home and while setting the frames on my wall I notice some dark flecks on it. I thought it was dust and tried wiping it off. After it not coming off, I looked closer and saw that it was dirt stuck in between the glue and the cheap acrylic. I called Bill and told him what I saw and wanted to know what to do with it since there was so much black dirt in the glue, you can see it at arms length. He said I'd have to pay for the entire invoice again and if I wanted better quality, it was going to cost more. I just had it with this shop and hung up the phone on him. Never again, will I trust this place or any reviews that were left from so long ago. I hope no one goes through what I've been through. After reading a few reviews left by Yelpers I decided to get some of my artwork done here for a convention I was holding in a few months. I went there and spoke to Bill who was the owner. He seemed really trustworthy and upbeat and always willing to throw his ideas out to better my design. After he sketched a drawing for me and gave me a price, it seemed I came to the right place. He asked for payment in full before the order can start and I paid. He had two months to make 100 small plaques for me and when I called him after 3 weeks, he told me that production is coming along great and seemed excited at the progress. After the 5th week, I called back again and wanted to stop by and check how things were coming along. He told me that he was really swamped and not to worry that his fabricators were the best and everything is looking fine and that he will call me at the end of the week to give me an update. The end of the 5th week comes around and I don't get a call from him. I left many messages for the secretary and never received a call back. I decided to drop by the warehouse and asked the secretary if I can check on my plaques. She didn't know where they were after asking all of the employees. Then Bill happens to show up and I asked him to see the progress. He started telling me that they were really bombarded and not to worry that my order will be done in time for my award convention. During the 6th and 7th week, I kept calling for updates and asking the secretary to leave messages for him so I can come check on my order. He never called back and decided to pay a visit again. Bill wasn't there and i happened to run into one of his workers and asked about the plaques. The worker told me that they aren't working on anything besides a huge order they received months ago that they were behind on. I immediately got to the front desk again and asked the secretary for Bill. She said she didn't know when he would get there. Furious and confused, I waited for him for two hours and finally ran into him when he drove up. I told him what I had learned and all he told me was that they were really backed up and he will get started on my plaques that week. During the 8th week when the plaques were supposed to be done, I didn't hear anything and went by again. I asked Bill where my plaques were and he blatantly told me that he did not agree on 8 weeks deadline!! I couldn't believe what I was hearing at the moment. I had an award convention in 3 days and I still don't have my awards to hand out! I displayed my anger and reminded him that he told me my plaques were coming out great 4 weeks ago! Now he's telling me that he never promised to have it done within 2 months and that it was a misunderstanding and he will get to it as soon as the current orders are done. I asked him what he expects me to do at this moment and demanded that the plaques be done in 2 days before my awards show and he told me it was IMPOSSIBLE! This is an owner of a business who put his pen on paper with a deadline scheduled and actually denied the deadline when it's clearly printed on a receipt?!?!?! There was no way out for me at that moment and I left storming out. I called in every 3 days regarding my plaques and had to have the award show without it. It was so humiliating as we had to present awards with certificates instead of plaques! Bill finally got my plaques done 7 weeks after my show and I went and picked them up and had to mail them to the recipients. They looked awful with so much glue around the edges and some of the edges weren't evenly cut and had plastic pieces hanging off of them. The lettering on the plaques were really blurred and had color spilling over the etching. This was the worse experience I've ever had with any company and I sure wanted to tell my story so that everyone would know what they were getting into. I also ran into some other reviews online about the same situation happening to many other people who recently dealt with him. I found out that the good ratings were left for the previous owner of Plastic Depot and not for the current owner which is Bill. This is not the company you want to deal with. I'm a sucker for a great personality and I was fooled by his upbeat and seemingly helpful personality but in the end, I found out that he's just taking everyone's money and once he does, he doesn't care about meeting his deadlines that he wrote on a printed receipt! Not too many people have taken the time to write a review because they just want to get past the horrible experience but I thought this would prevent other people from getting burned. If you decide to deal with this company, don't say I didn't tell you so! There are several reviews with similar experiences to mine and it was my luck that I did not bother to review this company before dealing with them. read more
