Yesterday was the 3rd time I tried to take my grandson to Plaster Funcraft (12:15pm). It was closed once again for the 3rd time. Along with other moms and grandparents we stayed until 12:45 and it still didn't open. Website said it was open, called and there was no message indicating delayed opening nor was there a message on the door stating delayed opening. With that said we were also going to book a party for 20 children. NOPE. NO THANK YOU. TAKING MY BUSINESS ELSEWHERE!!!! Terrible way to run a business. Plaster funcraft is great! I stopped in here and painted a few small items and one bigger item with my 2 year old and it was great. They were helpful and nice to us and even gave us a quarter for the m&m machine when we didn't have one. Great experience! read more

went here a couple of times recently and had a great experience!! you can pick out a plaster mold or paint on a canvas for between 15-25 dollars depending on how big the item is. they will provide paint and brushes and you can just relax and paint! it's so cute. i was not able to go to these yet but apparently they have adult paint nights too so that would be worth checking out but if you're looking for a fun hang out/date idea or just something nice to do on a weekend it's worth a try. 10/10 read more

Oldie but a goodie and a great activity to do with young children up to adults. We had a great time and the people that work there are so lovely and so nice. I took my nieces there and then unexpectedly we needed to leave early and they were so accommodating. We went back a second time to finish our pieces and they came out fantastic. read more

My kid loves this place, and for the time you get to spend there I'd say it's reasonable. ~$15 and you can get a piece of plaster and the paint. They also have a "private" room you can rent for parties. I'd say for a kid 3-9 years old this is a good hour long diversion for a rainy day. Be aware that their paint doesn't come out of clothes- they do give you a smock, but it's pretty skimpy and only covers your front. While it's more than sufficient if you're painting yourself, if you're actually helping a young child next to you instead of painting, guard your flanks! read more

For that amount of money I feel like they should've at least gotten 45-60 minutes of art/creativity. Next time I'll spend that money at Michaels. read more

I took my special education class here on a field trip today and the children had a very nice time. They each got to make their own craft and then dance in the party room afterwards. They even let us stay a little longer and eat our lunch. The place was clean and quiet and the girl working the event was very friendly. They were very accommodating to process our tax exempt form even though we didn't have it on us. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone for either a field trip or a birthday party. I went here when I was a little kid and it was very nice to come back over 20 years later with my students. read more

I came here with a friend so we could ironically paint wall hangings for our boyfriends. It was the middle of the afternoon on a weekday so for the first half-hour or so we had the place to ourselves. The girl who helped us was attentive and friendly and we were able to sit there as long as we needed to finish painting our fish and dinosaur without feeling hurried. There are about 30 different colors of paint and you're allowed 2 at a time, although we definitely had more than that and nobody seemed to care. There's also glitter and a wide array of brushes and toothpicks for making the perfect creation. I would do this all the time if it didn't mean having a house full of plaster craft paintings for the rest of my life. read more

Attended a 3rd olds birthday party here and was disappointed to see that a place that holds kids parties did not have a changing table! There were 6 children there under the age of 1. Those moms would have had to change their kids on the floor or walk back to their cars in the rain. Plaster Funcraft- if you're charging parents over $10 to paint something that probably cost you $1, I think the least you can do is install a changing table. read more

This place is really great for birthday parties. We just had my niece's 6yr old birthday party there with 20-25 children and they all had an amazing time. They all got to pick out their own item to paint (keeps them focused for like 30-45 minutes). Then, they all go into the party room in the back to play like kids where they've got numerous video games, big projector screen, great sound system and lighting where they MC various dancing games, pizza and birthday cake. The staff are all nice and very helpful with the kids, and it's really a great value as compared to other options. Tons of compliments from all the parents too which is a plus. Thank you PFC! I brought my two young children in today because they are off from school. This is my first time bringing them here to paint. One is special needs. I have fond memories as a child of painting at Plaster Funhouse in Elwood before it went out of business and I wanted my children to experience it too. We arrived at 11:15am and the store was freezing. It's not even that cold outside today, in fact when we left the store it was actually warmer outside than in the store. I believe that the heat was not on at all. We actually had to ask the woman to turn on the heat. There was only one woman working the store and she barely looked up the entire time even when I was speaking to her. There were even times when my child and I were waiting to ask her something and she didn't look up. I did not see this woman smile once the entire hour we were there, even when I acted excited for my children after they completed painting. I get that sometimes people don't feel like being at work but it's not like it was busy. We were basically the only ones in the store. I didn't personally feel that the selection was particularly great and most of the paintbrushes seemed very used. They'd clearly benefit from some new brushes. Lastly I was annoyed that the smocks barely covered anything. My three-year-old ended up getting paint all over her clothing and we just came home and after 20 minutes of scrubbing it still has not come off so I'm afraid I will have to throw out this shirt. I wish I knew that the paint was not washable. This is a children's activity, at least get paint that washes out or full coverage smocks. I don't believe that we will be returning anytime soon. read more

My friend and I brought our two toddlers here on a Friday recently and had a great time! We split the cost of 2 pieces (they were buy 1 get 1 free) so for just $7 each our kids got to paint and then dance in the back room with the laser light show! They had so much fun! My son attended a birthday party here. I was excited because I used to go to parties here when I was a kid and now my son would be carrying on the tradition. The party started where they could choose what they wanted to paint. There was a large selection. Then they asked if you wanted face paint or a tattoo. Then we had to wait about 20 minutes to actually get any paint. My son was growing restless. They asked him if he wanted glitter on his and he said yes, but at the end when we picked up our final product there was no glitter. The party hosts told us to go into a different room to play video games and dance. More than half of the video games were not working which frustrated the kids. They ate pizza and were haphazardly served by young girls that seemed overwhelmed. More dancing followed and then a few games of freeze dance and limbo. Then a piñata and birthday cake. They shut the lights so the birthday boy could blow out his candles but then never turned them back on, making it difficult for the children to see. Then they announced the party was over. Ps: I got pink eye the next day. The cleanliness was a little sketchy but now I know I won't be back. read more

I would give zero stars but I feel bad. Took my kids there today. First of all it's the biggest rip off for nothing. Second of all the staff was near to be found, we pretty much helped ourself except of course when it was time for payment. Then even better My daughter asked for help how to "splatter " paint on her project and the girl working told us she doesn't know how to funny you are hired to work in a paint store. A fun day out with my children and my mom turned in to disgust over the whole experience and cost us where I would have rather donated to charity. My friend and I are in our mid 20 ' s and have been coming here since we were teenagers (yes, a little too old but we love art projects). It really is great for all ages. I took four kids on a Friday and we had a great time. The kids are 2, 7, 10, and 12, and all of them had fun. We got there at noon, right when it opened. Friday they have buy one get one free so it was about $40 I think for 6 pieces. It wasn't crowded, and the paint washed out of hands and sneakers easily. I noticed some afterwards on my pants so hopefully it comes out. I wouldn't bring my coach bag and Jordan's though. And you really should bring your own smock. They have a few little ones. The great thing about this place is free video games and music and lights in the party room til 3, so you literally don't have to be bored watching paint dry. It was a lot of fun. I was looking for a place to have my son's 4th birthday. Since he had special needs, I am very limited to where we could do this. This place came up in a Google search "special needs party venues" so my husband and I went to check it out. We spoke with the manager who sold us on the spot! We were excited to have his party there, they could accommodate wheelchairs and would tailor the rest of the party with games he could play! Yay!!! Well, the day came and we were so excited.....only everything they said they could do wasn't really what they did. For starters, they offered NO help to the kids with painting, the said only 2 cups of paint each then went behind the counter and talked while myself and another parent helped the kids, we also said no glitter on the crafts. Then the pizza came and they started plating it in the back room, we weren't even done painting yet! I mentioned that and thy did nothing to help. So then we go to the back room only to have cold pizza while the sprinkled glitter on every piece! Ugh! Then, the DJ played fun music and we did the limbo. It was fun and i pushed my son's wheelchair under the limbo bar as the girls holding the bar again were talking to each other! This went on for 15 minutes! I was dizzy! Can't we play another game??? Yes, we did the parachute game. Ok, then it was time for cake (I brought an ice cream cake which they took care of cutting), but while one girl was cutting the ice cream cake, the other girl gave each kid a Dixie cup ice cream. Really???? This was a terrible place for a special needs party. They did absolutely NOTHING to make the birthday boy feel special or make him the center of attention! I was extremely disappointed and embarrassed. And to top it off, the party was well over $400. Every time I called to speak with the owner, I got a voicemail. I have been unsuccessful in telling anyone other than the manager who did nothing to help me the day of my event. I wanted this to be a wonderful first real birthday party for my son with his own friends (not just his big sister's friends) and it was just sad and awful. read more

OK, I've been to and hosted many children's parties in my life with my children and their friends. I have to say that the party that I had for my daughter in March 2011 was, without a doubt, the best party experience that I've had for younger children (my daughter turned 4). THE KIDS LOVED IT! They got to pick out their choice of plaster craft from the wall (about 75 pieces to choose from) and were supplied with smocks and paint. When they were done with that, they could have face paint and then go dance while they waited for the others to finish. Then there was organized dancing, video games, pizza and snacks for the kids and adults, a pinata, and more. My daughter had a blast and I can't tell you how many compliments I received from the parents in attendance. The party hostesses were EXCELLENT! They totally understood the needs of the age group in attendance and were enthusiastic and energetic through the entire party. I would highly recommend having your child's party here! read more
