I grabbed some of the baskets and loaded up about $200 worth of plates and bowls. The guy behind the counter was named Joshua. Really nice guy. He rang me up and was very friendly. I had no complaints about how he treated me. Pier1 gives a military discount too!! I can't give more than 3 stars though. While my items were being wrapped, Joshua was talking with another employee. He was giving her some type of training tips or something. This customer was standing at the counter and was being ignored by the two employees. She then said, "excuse me." Joshua told her to wait. He continued to talk with the other employee. I felt so bad for this lady. After quite some time and when Joshua was good and ready he pointed his finger at her and asked what she wanted. Almost like scolding a dog. It was just rude. I'm not sure what customer service training program Pier1 people go through. But, this was terrible and unacceptable. To make a customer wait while you finish a conversation with another employee and then treat them like he did was just wrong.

Then there had been one on top of a defunct restaurant in Vidal Junction, CA for a long time, but it was gone by the time we drove over there. Searching for "giant chickens" on the Internet, I mostly found images with no locations but finally under "giant fiberglass chickens" I found Main Street Collectors in Hesperia. Since we were en route from Joshua Tree to Los Angeles, it seemed might handy. Although we found the first Yelp review disconcerting, we decided to trek over there. The two fellows we found working there were polite and friendly and very knowledgeable about the manufacture and customization of fiberglass statues. They had even created the chickens displayed in Acton and Vidal Junction. They also had a nice selection of reasonably priced antiques so my sister bought a nice little poster with a red rooster on it, to tide her over till she can afford to invest in her very own giant chicken.
