In terms of the procedure, I have no concerns. However, their billing practices are unlike anything I have ever encountered from a dental office. I have been a patient of several dentists in my life, and never have I been asked to: 1. Pay a $30 fee for a predetermination from my benefits 2. Pay upfront any charges that they feel my benefits will not cover (despite them saying they will cover it on the pre determination) 3. Unorganized, and lack of communication. They are also about 10-20% more than the average dentist, due to their 'upscale' office which is unnecessary. I dont need you do have a DSLR and take a photo of me to keep my face on file, thanks. I'd rather pay less fees than to go a fancy dental office. I will not be returning to this dentist, and will continue with my regular dentist for all future appointments.

I called to cancel the appointment and was told there would be a $70 cancellation fee. This is unacceptable. People don't schedule a day to get sick so they can give notice to cancel things. There is no way they would not have been able to get someone else to come in and fill that appointment time. Would they rather that sick people keep their appointments and risk making their own staff and other patients ill? This is not the way to treat patients .

A bill arrived in the mail so I called and informed them that Dan has insurance coverage and they could submit a claim for the service. They refused as it is their policy to only do that for regular patients. At no time did this dental office attempt to make us their regular patients or provide the "courtesy" of submitting a claim. When I informed them that I could not pay the bill for a couple of months due to a long length of unemployment and that it would be faster for them to submit a claim, they only threatened to send it to collections. The bill is just over $200 - a lot of money for someone who is catching up on many bills. I am shocked that this dentist has no compassion, empathy or desire to gain new patients by offering "courteous service".

So I booked off 2 hours of work each side of skipped lunch hour and drove an hour each way to a consult with Dr. Andrew N. Hokhold in Vernon, here's how it went: We start reveiwing my xrays. After a few minutes he flags down another patient who was walking by and they chat. Then he tells me about this person. A clear HIPPA violation. We get back to me. 5 minutes later he gets a personal call. I sit there for 10 minutes while he talks to this person about helicopters, on speaker, in the exam room with me sitting there. I walked out. I booked off work and drove an hour each way for this wierdo clown. Johnson Dental needs to know the difference between quirky and completely unprofessional. They made my teeth turn BLACK!!! They told me that they wanted to try out a Silver Diamine Fluoride treatment that would have some discolouration but not to worry because they wouldn't do it on the teeth that were visible. They did my entire bottom row so now every time I talk to someone ppl ask "what's wrong with your teeth" or "I think you have something caught in your teeth" F*#% these hacks. My first visit there they did an exam and made no mention of expensive items that my last dentist had told me were urgent and needed immediate action, such as a crown that they said had a cavity under it. The dentist at ADA had a good look when I told him, both by physical inspection and by X-rays, and said the crown was fine. At some point, dental offices started putting tv's in the ceiling which has always really bothered me as someone who appreciates the opportunity to simply lie there and zone out or, gasp, interact with the hygienist as another person. The dental hygiene appointment I went to had no tv. I appreciated that a lot. And the hygienist was really personable. She paints and they let her decorate the office with her art, which you can buy if you like it. I thought that was really nice. Gave the place a really good small business / family business feel. I really have come to loathe how dentistry got away from that feel over the past few decades, so this place has been really nice for me. It feels good to go there.

So my family of four has been going to Dr. Christopher Wilson for over ten years. Last April I had…read more5 teeth done in an hour. Seemed very rushed and lots of banging gums teeth and lips with instruments. Was in pain on one tooth immediately after the meds wore off. Had been in pain before after a procedure I just figured between rushing and just the work done it was normal. This was right before easter weekend so I suffered through and didnt get back in to see him for ten days. So bad at one point I took 4 t3 and it barely touched the pain. Go in and find out he needs to do a root canal on the tooth now instead. So they charge my insurance for the first procedures and then they tell me I wont be charged for the second because the first wasnt right. The tooth got a temporary filling and still isnt done today. A week passed and I got a bill for the second procedure that was supposed to be free. I call and they tell me my insurance is all used up and I will have to pay for the procedure. Confused because I still have coverage AND it was supposed to be free I ask for all the paperwork that pertains to me and what I have paid and what insurance has paid etc. The receptionist act apprehensive then says ok Ill see what I can do. A month or two passed I heard nothing. I figured they had sorted it out. Then I got a collections agency notice for it. I contact the collection agency and insurance they say contact the Dr. cause it makes no sense. I go in to the dentist office and ask for the paper work I requested to begin with and she tells me: "wait til you see it. It's going to blow your mind. Thats why i never sent it to you good luck wrapping your head around it." So i get it and its just an itemized list of procedures and what has been paid by both myself and my insurance. Not anything I didnt expect and very clearly states the item not paid is the one i was told would be free. So I contact the manager of the dentist office and she is very defensive and acts like I am the one not taking responsibility for this (in those exact words). And that maybe I should go elsewhere. She says that if I pay for this one (the one that was supposed to be free) then I can get the root canal for free. This feels super shady to me and makes no sense. So I contact the insurance they tell me hey they never even sent that procedure to them and they can cover it if they do. I call the dentist back tell them what the insurance guy said and the dentist office calls insurance. 30 mins later I get a call back from the same supervisor apologizing that the same receptionist never even sent the form to the insurance and that I could come in on the 28th of Oct to get that tooth fixed free of charge! Wow great finally! But everyone I talk to says get it in writing (including my gut at this point) So I go in ten mins before the appointment and ask for the bill up front so I can see its all on the up and up. The same receptionist again tells me she doesnt know what the supervisor offered me and that she would have to contact her to "find out exactly what she promised you." So I sat in the waiting room. They came out to get me for the appointment and i had to tell her I would have to wait til they figure out what they are doing. 20 mins passes the receptionist was nowhere to be seen. I told the other receptionist to give me a call when they figure it out as I live very close and can come right back. An hour passes no call. I call the office and get an answering machine saying they are not open. Odd. So I waited two days to hear from them and nothing. That's today. Today I call and the same receptionist pushes me off onto the same supervisor who Im told was supposed to call me two days ago and never did. I say ok great well get her to call me to which she replies: "oh she is on vacation for a couple weeks, and I will have to remove myself from this situation because its up to her" ...IF you have read this far, Im done. With this wall of text and with this dentist. Really when a dentist has a dog running freely around a medical facility I should have known better.
