I had high expectations coming to Jonathan, having read the really nice reviews. But I must say I…read morewas disappointed. I ordered a "Lunch box" with an 18 pieces combination of sushi and sashimi. The quality of the fish was good and the plate looked pretty, though the rice tasted very plain. It felt like a very ordinary sushi in a fancy package. There was no other fish than salmon included in neither the sushi nor the sashimi , which felt a bit boring. I have no idea why, since I saw other people having larger varieties of fish on their plates. For the price of 210 kr, it felt like they could have been a bit more generous. And then there was one more thing: they do not serve tap water. In a country with free clean water in our pipes (actually of higher quality than much bottled water), while other parts of the world are drying up, and while pollution from our industries and waste is a major problem - there's nothing fancy about only serving bottled water, it's only ridiculous. Sorry Jonathan, but all in all this leads me to not feeling very keen about enjoy your sushi again.

Cute little place for fresh salmon sushi, fried rice and tom yum soup…read more The staff is extremely nice and helpful to suggest what's good. I love the tom yum soup a lot, the only thing that could have been better is to replace the noodles. They use instant noodles for the soup so the noodles got soft so quickly. Portion of fried rice is huge, this is definitely shared between 2 people. Great quality though.

The pieces were big and fresh, with a nice assortment of fish. The salmon was proper sashimi pieces, while the others were closer to nigiri pieces in size. Still, the 18 pieces + some avocado to substitute rice kept me full all evening. On the side I had a kimchi - this one was a bit too sweet according to me, but still delicious and fresh. My company had two maki rolls, one with duck and one with tempura salmon. The rolls were HUGE! And it was not the rice making them big, but the filling. He claimed they were delicious - the only problem was that they were so big and slightly to loosely packed, making them hard to tackle with the chopsticks. There's maybe 10-15 seating places, mainly on bar stools along the walls and window. The interior is fresh and simple. Both me and my company felt like this is a place we will return to again and again and again.

This was decent sushi…read more I ordered the large sushi set. The size description is fair being called large. The rice execution was good. The quality of the tuna, whitefish, and shrimp were all fairly mediocre. There wasn't anything wrong with them, but the texture definitely tasted very much like the quality and age of the fish were safe, but not extremely fresh. That said, the salmon was excellent. I think Norway simply does salmon better than other fish. The mouthfeel was smooth and the fatty flavors came through on the palate. Overall, this place serves a decent lunch at the going rate for such things in Oslo.
