It was fun getting to shop the LTT merch in person and get to meet Linus, Luke, and the LTT team who were all very pleasant and happy to take a selfie with when asked. Linus, when available, was happy to chat with attendees about anything and it was nice to see him genuinely engage in the conversation. The facilities also were well kept and it was neat to see the thoughtfulness in having vending machines which offered premium options for hot foods, mixed drinks, and dessert at a pretty affordable price. I also stopped by the Badminton center side of things just to check it out and the staff was very nice about me browsing even though I don't play. There had a nice sale section in the back that I snagged some Doraemon badminton merch. I checked the general break room area briefly and it had ample seating with multiple people making full use of the facilities posted up with the laptop working away while their friends played on the court. This break room, too, also has vending machines with nice premium options. I hope in future Whale LAN events more of the creator warehouse merchandise is offered like the socks, hats, etc.

Been here couple of weeks now, the experience has been mostly positive from great customer service to good playing facilities and ample of amenities, it is well beyond what was a poor facility that was run by a Badminton Netanyahu (Nazi is mild) of Cosports. Smash Champs could improve somethings like the cleanliness of the courts, or the hidden fees. Not to mention the unnecessary excessive pricing tiers that leans towards top heavy. So far, nothing is jumping out as over the top bothersome. So far so good.

I love the idea of a community centre with multiple facilities. Gym, pool, skating rink, PLUS a…read morelibrary and café -- check, check, check. And it's modern? We love new, up-to-date facilities. I've used all their facilities except for the skating rink (so I like to think I'm a fairly reliable source). You can pay drop-in for gym and/or pool for $7.50 (yep, you can use both facilities in the same day if you want). Gym isn't huge but there are still enough machines/benches/treadmills to go around. You could totally do a full workout without waiting your turn (unless it's after 4 on a weekday, aka peak gym hours everywhere). Pool is one of the best in Vancouver, given that it's new and has a lot of features. A good number of swimming lanes, leisure pools, a lazy river, 3 diving boards, a big hot tub, a sauna (that is not so big) and a steam room. Showers are fine as far as public pool showers go (the curtains don't fully shut but still better than UBC's) and you can bring your own lock for the lockers. I love that there's a library because I can head on over post-workout and enter a different kind of calm, zen mindset as I peruse the shelves. Whose idea was it to attach a library to every community centre (and can we get more of that, please!)? There will always be something to gripe about with every community centre (sometimes there are way too many people in one swimming lane and I'm not sure why they don't open up another), but as far as Hillcrest goes, it has a lot to offer. A really great place to hit up all the facilities in one stop, or to bring the kids along for a fun-filled, athletic and/or academic weekend. Also, the staff is GREAT and so kind. Kudos to them!
