This gym has very polite and helpful staff. Always helpful. You are my biggest two issues: the location is small for the equipment that they have. Everything is stacked on top of each other. Even when it's "slow" it's hard to get on the equipment. The locker rooms can have a little more attention to detail with cleaning. But my biggest peeve is the circuit section. Don't plan on doing the 30 minute circuit without a lot of interruptions from people just sitting on the machines and doing their usual workout because they want to be more secluded. It's so frustrating and when you're trying to get a good HIIT workout in they're in the way. There's no consideration or respect and certainly non-enforcement. read more

I would have given this place five stars, for the convenient hours, great atmosphere, and low price, but two glaring problems need to be fixed. First, despite having 21 treadmills and 22 elliptical machines, they have only ONE traditional stationary bike (they have another that has been broken for a month and two "reclining sitting" bikes). In an industry where "Peleton-style bikes are so successful and prevalent, and so many people use this type of exercise for knee rehab, you would think that they would make sure they had more than one. After waiting every other day for someone to finish their workout, I asked the management AGAIN if there were some sort of customer feedback card or note-box to indicate how they might serve their community better. I was given a small pink blank post-it that I'm sure would have been instantly discarded and never taken seriously. In an industry where customer satisfaction provides the critical edge to success, there has to be a more defined process for written feedback! Fix these obvious shortcomings, and this place would be great! read more

Been a black-card member since shortly after opening. Still the best run and cheapest gym around. No contest. However they just did something that has me a little irritated. They have massage chairs and hydro-massage beds for the black-card members to use (those of us who pay double what others pay). They used to give you two coins for the massage chairs (5 minutes per coin). Sometimes if it was late at night or the place was really dead, they'd even give you three. But now they will only give you one, and say "you can just come back up for more". oohh.. crossing the line. Yeah, I really want to get a good workout, relax in the massage chair for 5 minutes and jump up and get back in line to get another token, and maybe no one will have jumped in front of me. How relaxing. This was an extremely ill-considered change. Especially since I take care to use the gym when there are few people there and *no* competition for the massage chairs. So my advice to you is yes, join Planet Fitness in Gardner, but save your money and skip the black card, because its value has been destroyed. read more

If you join this gym, I hope you like to listen to incredibly loud music. It is so loud that I can barely hear the music coming through my ear buds! When I mention this to the staff, I have gotten pretty lame responses. "Oh, it's just this song ", and "Corporate says we have to turn it up to this level ". Definitely a good workout experience. The Y in Athol and Eagle Peak in Orange are so expensive and both lack so much. This place is nice and offers what my boyfriend and I need, just a workout. Also it is not to hot such as the case with the Y. read more

I signed up to be a member of Planet Fitness in 2015 while in Massachusetts taking care of my 87 year old Dad. On several occasions I have contacted Planet Fitness to cancel my membership as I live two and a half hours away from this location. So today I contacted the Keene,NH facility and was told by Kate (the young woman who answered the phone) that I needed to contact the Massachusetts facility where I became a member. After contacting the facility once again, I was directed to Karen the assistant manager. I was told that I needed to go into the facility in person to cancel or send a certified letter to cancel. I understand that it is only $20.00 per month but over time it does add up. Short story is they expected me to drive 5 hours to cancel. Karen miraculously was able to cancel my membership. (this is after they collected my money for over a year and a half), and Karen was unable to refund any of the funds whatsoever. I was not offered a membership in my area crediting my account with the funds the Massachusetts location took. WARNING! Never join Planet Fitness unless it is in your hometown as this could be you!!! read more
