Large gym space with ample lifting, cardio, and calisthenic equipment. They offer classes and personalized training sessions but I have not taken advantage of those perks yet. One gripe I have is that there is a crowd meter on the Planet Fitness app that is supposed to indicate how crowded the gym is. For this location, I have never seen the meter go above a 3/10, even when the gym is packed. It's not an accurate indicator of what you're walking into, which can be frustrating. Why have the meter go all the way to 10 if it never goes above 3? Also, there is often equipment that is out of order, and it can take days or weeks to get fixed. That can be annoying, especially when there is only one of the equipment type. Overall, for the baseline membership it is not a bad space to work out. If I were going to the gym more regularly though, I might consider other options. read more

I am not sure why planet fitness always gets a bad rep because I've been to nicer gyms and they aren't that much better. This location has very friendly staff! I come in the mornings and afternoons and they always friendly and easy- going. I constantly see their people going around to clean and sanitize the machines. The clean stations are usually stocked and trash is never piling up. The only complaint I have is the clientele can be questionable sometimes, but that doesn't speak on the staff at all. Additionally, it can get very congested in the afternoons with some equipment hogs. All the good and important things: the one I go to is always clean, the staff is fantastic, great hours, easy parking, and the equipment is really well maintained. Machines which have a service issue are quickly repaired. Staff is extremely helpful and nice to talk with; they also quickly resolve any little issue that rarely pops up. The negatives for me - 2: There are a bunch of signs hanging on the walls with the gym "rules" or policies. Great. But, over several years, I've never any of them enforced. People just sitting on machines talking on their phones, bags/knapsacks/coats on the floor, etc. PF employees just walk by them and don't say anything. Just take the signs down if they don't mean anything. Nice that PF gives teens free entrance over the summer. The PF I go to is one of the smaller ones, the is only 1 of many of the machines. The kids hang on them, and the members who pay can't use them. I've seen several frustrated "regulars". Everybody should get free during this period if PF is going to disadvantage paying members. read more

I started attending the PF at Mondawmin Mall in Baltimore Maryland around June 2022. The facility is always clean, the staff very respectful, helpful and upbeat. I like the noncompetitive nature of PF and attend early in the morning or early afternoon. The venue is next to a popular supermarket and feels very safe. I have been a member of Planet Fitness for a number of years. My main location has been Ft. Meade where the customer service is wonderful but I find that getting there takes far longer than I can manage as often as I want. Thus, I don't work out as much as I should. I found the Catonsville location is kind of/sort of on my way home so I've been using this location. A couple of observations. One reason that I chose Planet Fitness is the circuit. I love the circuit. I love the 30 minutes of commitment. Unfortunately, I have found that despite the signs stating that the equipment is for circuit users only, I am constantly being held up by people lounging on the equipment while texting, or in one case, having a nap! These folks are not doing the circuit training. They leave the main floor and just sit on circuit equipment without regard to those of us who are utilizing the area the correct way. I spend more time that I should have to spend saying, "Excuse me. My turn." And then waiting for them to decide to move. The signs in the area state that the area is monitored. Yeah, no, not so much. My wish would be for employees to check once in a while. I have never observed that happening. Less important is that sometimes I have forgotten my water bottle and have been able to purchase a bottle for fifty cents. I discovered last night that the location is now selling "ultra-purified" (or whatever) bottles of water for $2.00. No thanks. The staff seems rather disinterested but since I don't rely on them for advice, I just blow it off. On the positive side, I have never had to wait for a treadmill and the place is clean enough. If the staff would improve the circuit training area usage, allowing it to be used the way it is intended to be used, I would certainly increase my rating. read more

There's about 30 treadmills and other cardio equipment as you walk in. Towards the back are strength training machines and ab circuit area. There a timed total body workout area for those wanting a lunch time workout. Only thing missing we all love are squat racks and stair masters. There are 3 Smiths however. The gym is extremely clean - bathrooms are normally kept up! I recommend this over filthy LA on the other end anytime. Update* 1-6-14* They just rolled in at least 5 new stair masters! Even during peak times I've never had to wait long, if at all, to use a treadmill or weight machine. I'm sure that Planet Fitness made my day after my first try. I was there early, the gym was spacious and isn't full of folks and have had a lot of machines so there is no need for waiting anyone until he finish. the gym was clean and healthy. the only thing that shut me down that people who doesn't care about the other and take specific training at specific machine all the time, they shouldn't be that rude. I love this gym. It's within walking distance, incredible prices and the hours are fantastic. I often have odd times like after 11 pm when I can work out so for a 24 hour gym it's perfect. Just renewed my membership after being gone for a couple of years...this location is newly renovated, looks great and is a fantastic value! Enjoy the spa aspects of the black card membership, friendly staff, clean environment. Plenty of equipment/machines for use as well. I stayed in the area for about 6 months and this was my main gym to go to. I'll definitely miss it! I usually went between 5:30am - 8am and also from 2pm - 5pm and I felt like it was never too busy to do what I needed to do in there (very spacious)! Stairmasters were always available for me to freely use for an hour if I needed to do that and the WiFi never let me down. Furthermore, I never got any complaints about lugging my gym bag around in the gym, and the staff was friendly whenever I needed to interact with them! Signed up few weeks ago with bunch of 'Resolutioners' to lose some weight and get back into my former self before tearing my rotator cuff last year. I like to start with few miles on the tread mill to warm up then lift. To keep my heart rate up between sets, I like to do some jump ropes. I believe that is the best and most efficient way to keep your heart rate up. Tonight, 11:30 pm on Saturday, a Mr. Savage asked me to stop doing jump ropes cause it was against their policy. And I was baffled. I thought jump roping was a fundamentals of working out with running. To put it into context, its a 3000+ square feet gym with literally 7 people there. I was not bothering anyone, nobody was complaining but he still asked me to stop. I will be asking to terminate my contract as soon as possible and will go back to my former gym that allows jump roping at a gym. I believe they do not know how to be flexible or reasonable and takes their GM position a little too seriously. read more

This planet fitness is ratchet and its in a grimy area too. This is the worst gym I have ever been to in my life. The equipment selection was ok for a planet fitness I guess. My issue was with the people that frequent the place. There was a guy on his cell phone claiming a bench but standing there having a lengthy convo on his phone. I go to the gym to workout so a guy being in my way because he wants to have convos on his phone is a problem. Seemed like most of the people there were just people who go to the gym to look at people and try to look cool themselves. There was a fat guy only doing bicep curls but he was clearly out of shape. Him and his buddy were just occupying like 3 benches by the dumbbell rack having a convo and doing a few bicep curls every 10 minutes. Other people were moping about staring and such. I go to use the situp machine and some guy tries to lecture me on how to properly do a situp. He didnt even know the difference between situps and curl-ups... either way I don't pay a membership for some bum to pass on his "wisdom", or lack thereof. I had a membership at another PF location but I moved so I decided to check this one out. I will never go back and I cancelled my membership with PF. The Bowie one is ok and the people that go there are cool. Can't say the same for this one. read more

I am not a big gym person, but signed up here a couple years ago. Price is right $10 a month so if I don't get there as much some months I don't feel I wasted a bunch of money. They have most weight and fitness equipment you could want. If you want extras like a basketball court, pool or raquetball this is not the place. They have some fitness classes, but I have not taken any as most are offered in the daytime. The staff is friendly and they try to keep this place clean with lots of cleanning stations throughout. Hours are good- Open 24 hours a day starting Monday at 5am until Friday at 9pm. Weekends are 7-7. I have a teenager and they give memberships if they are over 13, so our whole family belongs. They offer 12 different tvs and music plays overhead. They also have free wi-fi available. read more

This Planet Fitness is over all a 'win-win' deal for your dollar! I joined this Planet Fitness in August of 2015 and i dont regret joining it. I am always there at off-peak hours ( between 4 am and 5.30 am) and there is hardly anyone to even complaint about! The only con is that they dont have curl bars other than that cant really think of anything else. Very friendly staff, really neat and clean gym and the Men's toilet area as well.
