I am…read morea fan of the Olympics and religious about watching the events on TV and when possible attending an event, so I had to at least see the venue. Parc Olympique was the site of the 1976 summer Olympics. These are the Olympic games that propelled Nadia Comaneci to stardom. The venue is known for it's tower which is set at 45 degrees and affords a view of the Montreal skyline. It is 165 meters high. Presently it is closed because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Note that when admission is possible it is closed on Mondays. The cost to climb the tower was $15 and if you add the cost of stadium parking $20 people hesitate to visit. Days when traffic is light you will be able to find street parking close by. Besides climbing the tower you can see the the Olympic size swimming pool which is still used by the Olympic diving and swimming team.. The 5 five rings of the Olympics are still up including the medal stand. The Biodome which replicates the four ecosystems found in the United States requires a separate admission cost. The Planetarium is adjacent to dome is worth seeing. Across the street, Maisonneuve Park is home to the Montreal Botanical Garden and Insectarium. Saputo soccer Stadium can be found here as well. The bottom line is that I would not recommend Parc Olympique for everyone but it was interesting to see for me since it is only a 10 minute drive from downtown Montreal and is a unique dome.
