my massage therapist was Kelly. unfortunately I think this is the worst massage I ever received. (and I've tried a lot of places.) I had to ask for her to go softer wayyyy too many times for her to still not grasp the concept. I even said I like a very soft massage before we started. soft should be easy but apparently not for her. I've also never been to a place with such a bright atmosphere/ room. spas should be calming with dim light and soft music. but in here I could hear everyone walking down the hall, and I heard multiple phones ring outside the door during my massage. side note out of all my massages no ones ever pulled my undies down so far. like this was really odd for me. i guess if you feel that other spas don't skin-to-skin massage your butt enough, go to Kelly? she also paid an odd amount of attention to my ears. I booked ahead for the Swedish massage 60 mins which should be $69 according to the website. but at the end I was charged $74 (not sure why--didn't even bother to ask just wanted to leave) and then she asked for a tip? tips are optional and shouldnt be asked for. I tipped because I'm not an awful person, but it wasn't a reflection of good service here at all. I won't be back. read more

The massage therapist KNOW what they're doing! She was able to find all my knots, pressure points and relieve areas of pain and tension. I felt that she was very knowledgeable. She applied to pressure to points on my back I didn't even think were sensitive, but they relieved so much pain!! It is a very "no frills" spa, with a lack of aromas or ambient noise during my session. However, I feel like this is represented in the reasonable prices. Disappointed. I booked a Swedish massage. The therapist indicated that I was very tight (agreed) and suggested a combination. I should have asked there and then for the upcharge, but they also should have stated it when they recommended it. At any rate, I wouldn't have minded paying more if the experience had been better. Instead, I came out of here more tense than when I arrived. I understand a deep tissue massage can be painful, but my shoulders feel pinched and my lower back is very tight. The rooms are too small and warm and there are far too many interruptions. There were at least 3 times where she opened the door to speak with another therapist and one time when she left entirely to handle what I believe was another customer. I feel like I need another massage just to clear up the discomfort, but it won't be here. read more

I have been a customer of the spa for a long time.  I sometimes have a back problem and it really helps each time when I have a massage treatment.  I also feel pampered afterward.  The people there are always super nice and friendly, plus hard working. I book a 60 minutes treatment and they work non-stop for a solid 60 minutes.  I had an impingement on my left shoulder for 2 years and that really helped.  Their price is reasonable.  I usually get the package deal.  The best result is to communicate with them on what you need and they do a fine job. read more

Very sore after my massage. My therapist didn't speak English so the communication issue may have been a contributing factor to not getting the pressure right. She worked extensively on my back and not much on my legs. I run 4-5 times a week, do leg massage would have been helpful. I will not return. read more

Facts first - I (as well as my wife) have been getting massages here for more than an year as of today and I can attest to the 5 stars. Our favorite massage therapists are Jenny and May and they do a wonderful job every time. They not only remember our preferences but are kind and courteous as well! You better believe its worth it because we drive all the way from jersey city to Princeton just for this and we have tried everything in between and this is still so totally worth it. My preference is for a deep tissue massage but my wife prefers a mixed massage (bit of deep tissue for those knots + head and shoulder + hot stone for that soothing feeling afterwards). Amateur hour - nice people but they are not trained in massage. I got a prenatal massage and I went in to get relief from some back pain and all I got was a backrub that did nothing to get the knots out of my back. The lady that gave me the massage did not know how to find knots. If you are looking for any sort of pain relief I would not go here. If you like a back rub and a nice relaxing hour with a pleasant lady then this place would be fine. It was clean and the room was nice. read more

Ever wake and have a sore neck? This place is the place to go! I have gone here so many times and have never waited. I have only gone when I have had pain when I wake up in the morning. I've been getting massages at the Plainsboro spa for over a year now and highly recommend it. All the masseuses are extremely talented and knowledgeable. If you have pain or tightness that won't go away, schedule an appointment here. The masseuses here are the real deal. I can't believe this place is still in business. Shady massage parlor masked by the niceness of the gym. Terrible massage, I actually canceled the manicure my husband had booked for me after my prenatal massage because it would have been such a waste. It was like asking a random person on the street for a massage. At one point when she wanted me to turn she actually asked me if the left side was better, and she said "left side is better right? Is that was they say is better?" I was pretty shocked because it was a prenatal massage and I'd hope if they're offering that they'd be trained in it. When she led me into the room she also only told me to take my top off and I asked about taking my pants off and she didn't seem 100% sure. Very weird experience, no lotion or anything just dry hands, and barely any pressure more than you'd do to put a kid to sleep on their back. Very loud, you can hear people coming in and out of the gym, scanning their cards, and the other massage employees chatting away and doing other stuff in the hallway. Might be fine stop in after a workout for a quick chair massage, but nothing more. Tantamount to a shady mall massage parlor. You'd think the gym would vet the space better before letting someone in. read more

I went here because somebody gifted me a Gift Card for a 1 hour massage. I waited this long to write a review because I was THAT indignant! It was the worst massage I have ever had. And I have had plenty of them, in the US and in other countries. First thing I noticed was, there was nobody at the counter when I stepped in. I looked around and there was one lady sitting on one of the chairs, I looked again, she was asleep. I presumed, she must be a customer waiting for her turn and must have fallen asleep. I waited for around 5-8mins there for somebody to show up. I went outside, finally, and asked at the main gym reception if there's going to be anyone showing up, the guy said, oh yes there are people inside and then he looked inside and said yeah there she is, pointing to the lady asleep in the waiting area :| She's asleep! - he said. Then I woke her up and then she asked me to come in. The sleeping lady was my masseuse!!!! :-/ Next part - nobody can converse in English there and I am absolutely okay with it. All they can speak in is broken sentences and some words. Now, I am absolutely okay with that AS LONG AS they understand what I am saying and I understand what they are trying to convey. That is a basic requirement if you're running a business. However, that was not the case here. She started the massage. It was PAINFUL and very very uncomfortable. It was supposed to be a Swedish massage but there were no long, relaxing strokes. She was digging into my body, painfully, and it did not cease after telling her repeatedly to reduce pressure. It was like she was working with fondant, a very very hard lump of fondant, very very unskillfully! :/ SO SO PAINFUL. Ugh. She was yawning all through the massage and 20 mins in she asks me if I want another 30 mins on top of my 1 hour. I said yes, hoping she'd "wake up" and give me a nice relaxing second half. BOY WAS I WRONG! :-/ In between, she left thrice, twice to bring something to eat :| :| :|. She was SNACKING! With one hand while massaging me with another. I am not someone who'd create a scene anywhere, I just tolerated it, breathing deeply and calming myself. She was munching very very loudly and I don't even need to mention how DISGUSTING it is to hear that sound while you are getting massaged. :-/ At last, when my ordeal was over :-/ I went out to pay for it. The sleepy lady did not understand the concept of a gift card and was not able to understand when I tried to explain it. She called a lady from inside who was massaging her colleague in one of the rooms. They both came out and it took them more than 15 minutes and 3 separate print outs of my email, the gift card and the receipt for them to get it. Let's leave it at that. I am too indignant right now to write the details of that discussion. In short, it was very, very EXHAUSTING. The three ladies I interacted with there were nice, sweet people. Smiling faces and warm behavior. I wish they'd deliver massages that well. Now I don't know if it was just the lady that massaged me or all the masseuses there are like that but based on my own experience I WILL NOT RECOMMEND this massage place to anyone! I absolutely hated it and I would never return to this place. I felt the money of the person who gifted me this massage was wasted, my money was wasted for that extra 30 mins and the biggest waste of all was the tip. I tried this place with my boyfriend based on the majority stating they had a positive experience. I won't be coming back. They massaged one side of my back and then the other which made me feel uneven. They are susceptible to the outdoor elements of the gym (beeping, talking) which I understand they can't help, but they had someone enter in the middle of our massages, asking questions. My massage therapist actually left to go handle that in the middle of my massage. There was banging against the wall and weird music playing as well. The massage ended with a timer going off with an alarm sound. I tipped 17% for this abysmal experience and the lady actually confronted me about the amount I tipped! She actually looked astonished even though I tipped based off her tipping chart which started at 15%. I woke up the next morning with my ribs having a pain due to a muscle spasm and my neck unable to move. My boyfriend who is obsessed with massages also is having neck pain. Never again. read more
