This restaurant is exactly what Covington has been missing and I'm so glad it's here. The rotating menu is good, and there are always solid classics for picky eaters too. I will say that the service can be a bit slow, but that's generally well worth the delicious pasta and fair prices (cheaper than City Pharmacy, so that's a win!). For now, Bar Oscar is the premiere Italian/pasta restaurant in Covington, and my heart and stomach love it, so I'm giving it a 5 star, but in truth it probably is closer to a 4.

The interior is cute and they have a nice outdoor patio as well. We tried the lady whistle down, blood orange margarita, and the vodka gimlet. I love a vodka gimlet and this one was perfectly balanced, probably one of my favorite drinks of the trip. We munched on the cheese platter and marinated olives and then the tiramisu for dessert. Everything was really good, service got a bit slow towards the end of the night but overall a great first meal in Covington.

I was impressed with the variety of vegetables included in the dish. Upon arriving I was greeted with friendly service and waited comfortably in the lobby while my food was being prepared. While waiting, I inquired about desserts. They had a crumble lemon cake, strawberry cheesecake pudding and some type of Oreo dessert. I opted for the strawberry cheesecake pudding based on the employee's recommendation. Vegetable Bowl over Pasta - tasty, yet somehow still lacking some flavor despite all the sauces on it. I enjoyed it though and would eat again, but not anytime soon. Grade: B Strawberry Cheesecake Pudding - good serving size and very tasty. There are a variety of textures and flavors in the cup, which make the dessert interesting to eat from start to finish. Grade: A

I speak from experience as the hanger steak my brother saw online and wanted (which made us pick this restaurant) was not available this particular evening. On to the better stuff: I really liked their welcoming vibe and relaxed atmosphere. Complimentary sourdough bread was immediately served as well as celebratory champagne for my little brother's birthday. We started with the hush puppies appetizer and the French onion dip, which came with a bag of Zappo's potato chips. For dinner, I ordered the four cheese pasta, which I was informed is made in-house and is leaving the menu very soon. My only complaint was the size of the wine pours. When I inquired, they stated the pour was 6 ounces. The kind surprise was a generous top off when they sensed my disappointment. Their kids' menu -which isn't printed - is a little limited. Kids can pick from grilled cheese, chicken skewers, and a hamburger. One kiddo had a hamburger and my son snacked on their shoestring fries. All other adults ordered burgers and everyone seemed to enjoy their dinner. One more complimentary surprise showed up near the end of dinner which was a miniature Keylime pie in celebration of my brother's bday. Back home, we have very few restaurants that offer so many complimentary items. That definitely sets this restaurant apart from others. Also, having a small menu means they likely give lots of attention to the entrees they serve. Definitely recommend City Pharmacy!

I…read morestopped by on a Tuesday night, and the atmosphere was exactly what I needed--great food, good music, and an interactive crowd without feeling overly packed or overwhelming. One thing I noticed right away was how clean and spacious the restaurant was. Everything looked well-maintained, and I didn't notice flies or anything that would make me question the cleanliness. The layout gives everyone plenty of room to enjoy themselves, and there's even a small stage that becomes the center of attention during the night's entertainment. Now let's get into the food! Salmon Bites: 9/10 - Crispy, flavorful, and the perfect appetizer to start the meal. Brussels Sprouts: 10/10 - These were absolutely amazing! Perfectly cooked with so much flavor that I found myself reaching for them between every bite. Cup of Fries: 8/10 - Crispy and fresh, just a little saltier than I personally prefer. Medium Jerk Lamb Chops: 9/10 - Tender, well-seasoned, and packed with delicious jerk flavor. Crab Legs: 10/10! These completely stole the show. At just $7 per cluster, they're one of the best values on the menu. They came out hot, flavorful, and honestly had me wondering why more places don't offer a deal like this. For my drink, I ordered the Peach Lychee Martini made with gin, and it was just as pretty as it was delicious. It was light, refreshing, fruity, and dangerously easy to sip. What really made the night memorable was the entertainment. They had karaoke, which was so much fun, and the crowd was really into it. They also played music trivia throughout the evening, and if you won a round, you got a free shot--such a fun way to keep everyone engaged. The DJ deserves a special shoutout. He was interactive, kept the energy up all night, and knew exactly how to get the crowd involved. It felt like more than just dinner--it felt like an experience. Overall, Shantel's Restaurant & Lounge is a great Tuesday night destination if you're looking for flavorful food, fun entertainment, and a lively atmosphere. Between the delicious crab legs, the Peach Lychee Martini, karaoke, music trivia, and welcoming vibe, I'll definitely be back for another night out.

I have been wanting to try this place for sometime now and was very excited to try this place. I…read morewas very disheartened to say that it did not meet my expectations. I love my hole in the wall places, but this did not "hit". 1. Customer service was extremely lacking. I greeted the young lady good morning and made her aware it was our first time dining here. She just met me with a stare and it almost looked like it hurt to speak or interact with us. It was very awkward. My husband and I were talking about options and she did not take the opportunity to sell/recommend what they are known for, etc. l. I asked for coffee and the pot was full of coffee like it's been run through the same filter so it was almost like how a sweet tea would look like, instead of DARK, BLACK coffee. We really should have left then and there. But I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. So we asked to dine in. 2. First impression of this place was not good. We tried to sit but booths were dirty/dusty and the tables had hard to clean grease residue on it. My husband asked the cashier if she can please clean the table, so she took one flimsy paper towel and a bottle spray, cleaned the seat, the table and then the other seat. The brown paper towel was the type of brown paper towel you use in a bathroom that turns into a small wad when you get it wet, can you imagine cleaning two booths and a table with that? My husband asked for another towel because of the grime on the table. She came back with a visibly dirty rag that had holes and loose thread, used that with whatever was in the spray bottle she had and made a poor attempt of cleaning the table. Also, because of the little paper towel, our seats were still wet. No customers are dining in, both bathrooms are out of service, no a/c as it was warm there and the doors were cracked open. We decided to take it to go and the man who was in the kitchen apologized for the tables. We also noted that there were no health score/inspection posted at the restaurant door. 3. We spent about $60 on fish and grits, Bagel with Cheese steak, one waffle and a waffle and meat combo. **Fish and grits**- 2 great sized fish, seasoned, but SALTY, I do not equate flavor to SALT. Grits, as I am now a southerner were lacking (loose and somewhat lumpy). Or maybe I'm just spoiled as my mother in law has ruined me because she makes THE best grits I've ever had. So that bar is pretty high. 6/10 **Waffles**- Simple, with perfect amount of powdered sugar. Good texture and size. 6.5/10 **Bagel with Cheesesteak**- Per hubby, it was the best thing there. 6/10 **Waffles and meat combo**- I asked for a soft scramble and that was def not done. The turkey sausage tasted like it was spoiled. I know what a turkey sausage taste like and that tasted like a bad turkey sausage. I had to gargle to get the taste out of my mouth.
