This is not as quiet as I expected it to be. There were a couple of people talking aloud on their phones and not a single staff member said anything. Theres a back room with an office that had people talking and laughing very loudly. It's very unfortunate that they have a little bit of study rooms available. The seating area with tables is also in the middle of the library and close together so people tend to bump you as they walk through. Idk, but as for my first visit, I'm not coming back. read more

Looking for a walk in passport service? They got you! Please make sure you check their passport hours, but they are one of the only ones that do walk ins. Shout out to the Fullerton library for suggesting to come here! Long story short, I lost my passport and needed expedite renewal as I have another international travel for 2/26. The staff was very helpful and they signed me in with a buzzer to know when my turn was up as they only have 1 agent. The facility has parking in the back and it looks very clean. The tables in the middle have power plugs on the top for you to use. They have meeting rooms and quiet rooms. Overall I had a good experience. read more

We enjoyed all the high windows in the library which provides natural light for browsing and reading. This is my favorite library! It is located next to the Placentia Police station. This is a large and clean library that has a lot to offer. There are a classes, and story time book readings for children here.This library also has a very cool play area for kids. A variety of books, movies, video games and so much more can be checked out. There is even a 'library of things' available. There are office spaces available to rent as well as a tutoring area. When help has been needed from the librarians they have been very friendly and helpful to my kids, husband and I. This library has its own app and offers access to free programs which are accessible with your library card. After the first month you may check out up to 25 books/ movies! My family and I highly recommend Placentia public library! read more

This public library is in the same area as the police department on the corner of Chapman/Kraemer in Placentia. Ample parking, although the good spots are reserved for public employees that don't use them on the weekends. They have numerous tools, gadgets, equipment, and machines to rent, from the Library of Things, so you can use them or try them out before purchasing from outside vendors. They also offer passport services and is open seven days a week. Bookstore is good and has an ongoing silent auction for rare items. Things to consider: noise level is unacceptably loud for a library, A/C is extremely minimal, and this library has closed shop at times of extreme weather, which is a concern, since this is a go-to place for some community people on weekends. read more

Wow, Placentia Library blew me away. It's a nicely large size library with lots of resources and sights to see. Library cards are at a good price if you want to borrow books here. We always come here for our passport renewal. This time no exception lol They take walk in and we tried to get there early around 10 (they open at 9) to wait in line. The line was not too long and we waited for about 15 mins prior to the staff called us in to check our documents and form. Then they gave us a buzzer and told us we are feel free to hang out at the library till the buzzer notifies us our appt is ready. The library has been remodeled. It's very clean, bright and modern. They have a pretty big kid section with books, interactive store like set up (think about a mini version of the pretended city in Irvine) along with other sections for adults. They also have a coffee shop inside the library right before the entrance. Parking was easy and free! And they have a cute outdoor area as well. Tips for renewing your passports: if you are 18 plus, you could mail in your passport along with form and required documents (pls check website to make sure) for renewal. If you are 18 and under, either both parents or one parent with permission from another parent and need to appear in person. Make sure your go online to make sure print and fill out all the form and read what documents and copies you will need to bring. That will save you tons of time if you are well prepared and that will help speed up the line for others too. This place has the best toddler activity room hands down, they have 4 rooms that the kids can play in along with items and accessories. Their story time is also pretty cool. I was impressed as they did it on Ramadan which was unexpected but nice. read more

The Placentia Public Library is a nice public library with a friendly staff. My youngest son likes the play area, especially the grocery store, fire station, and diner. He also loves going through the children's section to pick out books for me to read to him. One time, I took him to storytime on a Thursday, and he had a good time. The staff member read some stories, sang some songs, and had stickers for the kids at the end. Overall, it's a good library to take the family to. read more

2 TIRES OF MY CAR SLASHED IN THE PARKING LOT!, unfortunately the cameras around the building do not work and are a false sense of security; cars in the parking lot are vulnerable to vandalism and police dept in the same office building complex can't do anything about it because it is a very minor crime​​​​ but it cost me $200 to replace the 2 slashed tires of my car and the library staff will not help they just look out for themselves, also there are a lot of questionable persons hanging around the library just a warning to everybody visiting the library. read more

I just LOVE this library! It's been recently renovated so everything is nice and new! It's a GREAT library for little ones because: 1. There's a mini pretend city to play! A grocery, fire house, bank, and diner provides tons of fun and entertainment! It's very simple but my LO played there for over an hour. 2. Expanded board book area for those chunky little hands. 3. Fun and interactive story time. 4. Best of all, the super friendly librarians don't shush kids! They allow them to BE kids and enjoy themselves at the library. Kids seem to really enjoy hanging out here, playing on the computers, reading, talking, doing their homework; isn't that what we want?! Tips: - baby changing station only in front bathroom (near entrance) - vending machines in bookstore area with drinks and snacks - plug in ports at every table - awesome "library of things" to rent stuff like a guitar, Nintendo switch, popcorn maker, etc. to stimulate and encourage interests - parking can suck This library has truly adapted to the needs of its patrons. This library has no noise control! I am shocked how the library can be loud as this. Tables are arranged surrounding the information desk and you can hear all conversations between librarians and visitors. And, librarians seem very welcoming so it creates more noise as well. If you are planning to read books here, you should go to other libraries or coffee shops. read more

The Placentia library inside and outside landscape is beautiful. It is located next to the Police station in Placentia. However I have seen many problems with this library. I have talked to the staff about these issues 3 times already and it has never been resolved and the problems continuing. People using the library as a video conferencing area using the library wifi on their devices to place calls or talking on their cell phones. This is a daily issue. Another problem is the amount of conversation in this library. People talking loudly, laughing, giggling, even singing (rapping), playing games loudly on the library computers as others are studying or doing their work. This is a library not a shopping center to chit chat, and definitely not of area to make your phone calls or use this library as your personal office for video conferencing. The staff at this library should walk around often and monitor things but they don't. There are some homeless people who also hang around in this library all day long. read more

This is by far my favorite library to go to. I prefer it over the ones in Anaheim. I always reserve books online and I am always called in to pick them up right away. Not a long wait for my books at all. There are always activities for children, teens, adults, and seniors. I also enjoy the activities they have during the summer reading programs. During the week they have homework help which I think is pretty cool and I like to take my son if he is ever needs help on something. Great library and a great staff/volunteers. read more

This place is really nice!! I wish they had more crafting books but it's very clean and the staff is friendly and nice. My favorite part of the library is the book store, afew of the cashiers I've encountered were pretty funny and they do have a nice selection of books. I've lived in Placentia, and West Yorba Linda, for many years. I'm not a big reader, so getting a library card (to me) equated being a child or adult lover of books. Lately I've felt the desire to find out more about my city, and also do more. I want to make a difference. Part of it stemmed from receiving the title, Citizen of the Year, a few months back. I started with joining the Placentia Library Friends Foundation and thus needed a library card. The library is staff with wonderful paid and volunteer members. The entry way is always clean, organized and inviting. Restrooms are located in the front, along with the Friends Foundations re-sale book store. There's even a meeting room. Further inside, the children's section is to the right and they have a computer room. Here you log on with your library card and can enjoy up to an hour of screen time. I was surprised to find many magazines and DVD's/movies there, as well. I now don't have to worry about a late fee with Red Box, since you can keep them for 7 days! Keep in mind, you can even check out 25 at a time! Talk about a marathon. The library also has a copy machine for a nominal fee and likely much more that I haven't begun to process yet. You do not need to be a resident of Placentia, to request one. Please consider your local library and invest in it. When you have the time, make a trip to ours as well. read more

This library is eager to put the community who checks out books to collections . I checked a couple books for my child and when I was late just over 4 weeks they quickly sent me to collections their excuse if that my address wasn't updated gave me two notifications to that address and said you have to notify us as soon as you move like the DMV in my opinion this is bad management towards the public if this is an issue they should also ask people when they check out if they moved. Another time they sent me to collections was because they failed to check the drop off boxes outside to turn in books and since they failed to check that they sent me to collections. Whoever manages this public library doesn't know how to manage their "books" terrible service. I don't recommend the public to check out books because this may happen to you. And sure there's more people in this situation. read more

This place suck!!!! I called 1 hr advance to make sure there is no waiting and it's ok to come. I drove a good 1 in traffic to by there by 6. And they sure i will be able to do the passport. Yet when I got there spent 39 minutes filing our paperwork and then was told that they can put me on the waiting list!!!! Wasted my time driving there and wasted my time filing for forms!!! They didn't provide me the best service like some of these views!!! There were other Non-Asian people filing our forms after me and they were serviced. They wasn't told they can not be seen. Polarizing service. My wife called ahead a few days before going in about a book that she was finishing up. She was told that she can hang onto the book in the two day grace period and that it shouldn't be a problem returning. Then going in she was met with a rather snarky employee behind the desk said there was never such a grace period and that she could be fined five dollars for not turning the book in on time. She was obviously upset because she didn't think she was doing anything wrong and in fact had called ahead to make sure I had half a mind to go ahead and tell the employee off. However after waiting the extra day that the first gentleman said to wait for the book we were met with an extra helpful lady behind the counter but was willing to go check the back store room for the book so that my wife could finish the last thirty pages of her book and even talked about a reading program. So what would've been a lower score was written into a middle ground by a polarizing employed it was less than thrilled with their job to another one that was more than happy to help people pick up a book which doesn't happen too often these days. read more

I love the Placentia library! I've been coming here since I was a kid,way before there was the internet so all we had to do was play outside or read...ahhh the good old days! They always have the book I'm looking for, the librarians are always very helpful when looking for something and this is a great place to study! Nice and quiet with plenty of tables. This is a beautiful library! Now, let's talk story time, which is why I have seemingly visited every library since my daughter was born. It's great. They have a toddler storyline on Thursdays at 9:30, and it is packed. It lasts about 25 minutes. I think they are going to add in a bilingual story time. The children's section is pretty large too. I give this place 2 stars only because they're one of the few libraries open on Sunday. I hadn't been in here in ages and I stopped in today...after all these years...it still sucks! It looks like 1975 in here, back when architects thought that windows and lighting were an afterthought and that ugly wood paneling was chic. Plus, I didn't care for the confused layout. Conclusion: go if you're desperate for a library open on Sunday, otherwise go to Yorba Linda or Orange on a Sat or during the week. read more
