The view from the Eiffel Tower of the Gardens and Warsaw Fountains
Georgie M.

If there is one place you must visit after seeing the Eiffel Tower, it's the Gardens of the Trocadéro. It is literally across the Seine River from Monsieur Eiffel's gigantic erector set It was created nearly eight-five years ago for the Paris World Exposition of 1937. But it is also famous for that photo shoot of the Germans on top of the Palais de Chaillot after entering Paris in 1940. By far and away probably the best place to take a photo of Paris on a clear day. The centrepiece of the gardens is the famous Warsaw Fountains, which with its 20 water cannons, offering a remarkable water display. Photography note... it is a wonderful place to go, especially in the evenings when it is illuminations. Hint. Hint.

Amazing! Must stop to see an amazing view of the Eiffel Tower! So so worth it even with all the happenings for the Olympics!

If you are going to visit the Eiffel Tower, walking along the Trocadero area is easily the best way to approach it. The Trocadero is a large open public space that consists of gardens and a huge water fountain with several spouts that shoot water high into the air. There are also museums that surround this space. The best photos of the Eiffel Tower are taken from here looking towards the tower in the background.

In my view, this place offers the best view and best picture of the Eiffel tower. There are 2 sides where you can sit, chill, take photos and enjoy the view of Eiffel tower. This is the best side. Another side, there is a park which looks horrible. Though this is not heaven still it offers the best view and great place for photography of iconic Eiffel tower. There are numerous places to shoot the Eiffel Tower, my favorite is Trocadero. Chances are the most iconic pic of the tower you see, are taken from here. It is slightly elevated and you take stairs to reach the main platform. Now coming to cons - very crowded, people are doing any sort of action to take photos with the tower. Vendors will bug you for water beer and keys-Magnets. Living in the USA, I was not used to seeing anything like this at the world-famous attraction. The main platform is filthy and trashed. It's better to get there before sunrise to get a marvelous view of the tower.

You just have to wait for that moment to arrive...

Named after the Battle of Trocadéro to commemorate the French invasion of Spain in 1823, this square is very popular not so much because of its historical significance but mainly due to this emblematic structure on the other side of the Seine River. Yep, Place du Trocadéro offers a marvelous view of the Eiffel Tower right where it's at. If I have plenty of time, I'll bring a chair, a tripod, and my DSLR and sit here before sunrise and way beyond sunset. Maybe I'll bring a camcorder too and take a time-lapse video. Wouldn't that be cool? Located at the plaza are the Palais de Chaillot, comprised of two wide-arc wings, and the Jardins du Trocadéro (Gardens of the Trocadéro), which features the beautiful Fountain of Warsaw. Ironically, pictures of the Eiffel Tower dominates this Yelp listing's photostream because that's the main reason tourists and locals visit this place. Reachable by Metro or bus with ease, a good-sized crowd is always expected. Anyone can argue that there is a better location to take that perfect Eiffel Tower photo. While that is true, the viewpoint from Place du Trocadéro would be hard to beat. The stairs provide an elevated angle with both the tower and the fountain in the same frame, but the section between the Palais wings attracts the most spectators. If you can work your way through the mass of people and vendors, chances are you'll get that Kodak moment too...

We got a badass here

Looking for that perfect, Instagram worthy shot of the Eiffel Tower? Well, climb on up to Place du Trocadero along with every other tourist and a healthy helping of local pickpockets. You truly do get a great view of the city and the tower from here. I very much enjoyed the pretty park in front, and all of the naked statues from the Musee de L'homme. The best part was watching folks do their own personal modeling shoots. Shoutout to the tatted up dude going shirtless on a cold rainy day to get that perfect pic.

Great place to see The Eiffel Tower both day and night. But definitely recommend doing both or catching it at night when it glows and sparkles every hour from 6 pm til 1 or 2 am (winter/summer) for 5 minutes on the hour. Also, you can get you souvenirs there- lots of street vendors. You can bargain on the key chains for 6 to 7 per one euro. Also bargain on small different size replica on the tower. Hint!!! Walk away and they will bargain down with you. Bonjour. Mecir.

Lovely spot to stroll near the Eiffel Tower! Bring your picnic blanket, a cheap bottle of wine, some cheese and a baguette- you'll be good! Nice to sit and chill and people watch

Cool little kickback spot with great views of the Eiffel Tower and fountains. There is a great set of stairs that are awesome to sit on and just gaze at the beauty of the Tower. The nighttime is the primetime to visit as the views are stellar and people watching is pretty fun. Be weary of solicitors and pick pockets as there are a lot of people trying to sell you things which can become extremely annoying. Overall, the views can't be beat but the environment could use a bit of control/improvement. Pros- VIEWS VIEWS VIEWS Stairs Relaxation Statues Street performers Eiffel Tower Cons- People selling you crap Crowded Stinks People selling you more crap Dirty People selling you even more crap

What is the most iconic thing to see in Paris and how do you get the best possible picture of it? If you want the ultimate picture of the Eiffel Tower then you must head to Trocadero. This place is just feet away from the Trocadero metro station so it is easy to get to. Once you walk up the stairs you will realize that every beautiful picture you have ever seen of the tower has been taken here. Once the sun goes down you can watch the Eiffel Tower light up/sparkle every hour on the hour. Like the empire state building, when there is a special or massive event happening in the world they also tend to dress it up in different colors or with wording. Whether you're a couple, backpacker or a family, a trip to Trocadero will be worth the visit. It will end up being the picture you send to your family or your new Facebook profile picture. Mark my words!

Gorgeous views of the Eiffel Tower!

This is the best location (that we've found) to see views of the Eiffel Tower from a decent distance. We went at night, when the lights were lit on the tower, and the night sky was clear. It was gorgeous! :) What a great fun place to be, to take photos and see the fountain show. While we didn't make it out to the tower itself, we were satisfied with the view we got from Place du Trocadero. So nice! We recommend going downtairs to the fountain level to take some nice photos since the crowd isn't as large there. Be sure to stay long enough to see the "flashing lights" show at the top of the hour. :)

Literally the perfect spot to get the Eiffel Tower in your photo from afar. It wasn't too crowded when we visited & I loved the view from here. A 10 minute walk across the street from the tower !

Taken with my tripod ad Place du Trocadero.

PHOTOGRAPHERS: Note that this is the spot to get THE iconic shot of the Eiffel Tower. Arrive at dawn if you want a photo shoot without lots of tourists in the background; come during the day when it's alive with people from around the world for some candid portraits or street photography; or come at night with your tripod for some amazing night shots. Also, remember you don't need to get the entire tower in your shot -- sometimes just a piece of it will provide nice detail: https://www.flickr.com/photos/starbuck77/4532214149/in/set-72157605928762000

Located underneath the Marché Saint-Germain, you will find Piscine Saint-Germain after walking down…read moresome Stairs on the south side of the Market. In the Entrance Hall you are greeted by an old certificate stating that this was the best swimming pool in all of Paris - in 1997. So while during all the time since then, Prince William had the chance to go from small boy, grow into a man, lose a lot of his hair, become a helicopter pilot, marry and father two children - I recon Piscine Saint-Germain hasn't changed that much in 18 years. Or to spell this out for those not getting it: Signs, plaques etc that say "we were great once" are always a worry - be it at a restaurant, hotel or a swimming-pool. 18 year old Glory is worth nothing today, what counts now is now. Someone should take these signs down and but one up that says "we wanna be the best pool in Paris again - in 2020". But this review is starting to sound more negative than I actually mean it. Piscine Saint-Germain is a decent small basement pool (one 25 Meter Basin). It was clean when I was there, the people working there were very friendly and despite being a pool without any natural light - it isn´t one bit dark or depressing in there. So they are getting the basics right. Negatives: While the Building and basin is in decent shape generally, the toilets are not up to standard and the shower area definitely has seen better days. There are not many individual changing cabins. I am not a big fan of the decor (nor the dolphin-paintings in the changing cabins), but it could be worse. Another thing that has struck me as odd was the disclaimer of liability in case of theft. Piscine Saint-Germain doesn´t have lockers, but a wardrobe check where you deposit your clothes with an employee. Now, how can my belongings be stolen while behind a counter, guarded by a member of the staff? I am not making accusations (again, the staff at Piscine Saint-Germain were very nice) - but if my belongings would be stolen while in personal care like that and those running the pool think that they are not responsible in such a case - I think I would prefer to just have a simple locker with a key.

Times inconvenient and there is usually a line waiting for people to get in. Pool closes fifteen minutes before the stated time, why, I have no idea. Please do not wear shoes into the locker room. You WILL be chased down and reprimanded in French. Showers mandatory. Men must wear the Speedo kind of suit, women can wear a two piece. Swim caps mandatory. There is a vending machine that sells swim suits and other necessities if you forget something. The French have no swim etiquette so be prepared. It's more of a cultural endeavor than a workout. It's still worth it if you want to swim some laps but just know it's a thoroughly French experience.

Mind you, this place is open to all ages. Once he let us to the shoe area, he yelled at my best friend for not hearing correctly as she was not even facing him. I made a reservation to go bowling on a Saturday night at BFS two weeks in advance without any problem. This was both wonderful, and disconcerting at the same time. I had already called three bowling places around Paris who told me they were "complet" on Saturday night. So why was BFS so available for my group of 20? I took a walk by on Saturday afternoon to check out the place and saw it overrun by screaming kids and their underwhelmed parents (note: don't go bowling on a Saturday afternoon). The place is a little tricky to find being that it's located in an alley between two big apartment buildings, and the inside was a bit lackluster-- no music, depressing lighting, minimal decor. At this point, however, there was no looking back. Saturday night, nine out of the 20 of us showed up together, and the staff took care of us immediately. They told me that we'd have 3 lanes instead of 4 as originally planned, but that we'd all be next to each other, fair enough. They were running a little behind schedule which was no problem for us since we were still waiting for the other half of the group. Naturally, we headed over to the bar to warm up. Pints and cocktails here are around 6€, not too bad for Paris standards, but not the bowling alley prices I'd expected. Snacks include tartines, sandwichs au jambon et fromage, kind of airport French food. Although clearly overwhelmed with the amount of people turning up, the staff at BFS was helpful, and above all nice, as they ushered us through the process of dividing up the group in to lanes and getting us all shoes. Next thing, we were on the lanes, rolling strikes left and right, spilling beer and having a classic good ol' time bowling. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of atmosphere. There were no disco lights and the music coming from the speakers was actually a radio station. This is not the kind of place where you want to bowl sober with three of your best friends. This is the kind of place you want to come to when you are a group of twenty and you could care less about everything else around you. The prices are awesome, after two and a half hours of bowling (2 rounds) plus shoes, I paid only 14€. Plus beer, you're looking at a Saturday night under 40€, when was the last time that happened to you in Paris? Oh, did I mention this place is open until 4:30am? Eat, drink, bowl and be merry. So after touring the Eiffel Tower and a bit famished, I noticed chien chaude was on offer by the nearby carrousel. So interested in checking out the French version on the hot dog, we decided to try it. We were not disappointed! So when I brought the GF to Paris, I knew I had to blow her mind. Could a French-style hot dog compete with the U.S.? Across the street from the NW section of the Eiffel Tower, right by the bridge, you'll notice the carrousel. And to the right of this, is a crepe stand. You can't leave Paris without trying a crepe and the ones here were pretty good, especially considering they are for eating on the go! They'll stuff your crepe with cheese, ham, and even a fried egg! Chien Chaude Fromage [7.50 Euros = $9.13] But first, let's get back to that hot dog. The GF was actually surprised by how good it was. The cheesy, crusty baguette was fresh and housed the hot dogs well (read: plural). The dogs also had nice snap and a salty savoriness. The mix of mayo and ketchup definitely makes sense - adding some acidity and creaminess to each bite. Maxi Complete Jambon [9.50 Euros = $11.57] Crepe, ham, cheese, egg, fries I probably should have stopped there, but considering we had arrived late on our first night in Paris and were scheduled for a boat ride by the Seine River, I went all out. I ordered the largest version of their crepe. It's filled with ham, cheese, egg, and topped with fries - talk about a carbo-gut-bomb. If you go this route, do get extra napkins because you'll find a decent pool of grease at the bottom of your crepe. I'd opt for some ketchup and mayo as well. Regardless, this was an enjoyable mess of gluttony, though not exactly the most delicate of endeavors. So if you're by the Eiffel Tower and need a quick snack, stop by the carrousel and order up a hot dog or a simple crepe. But if you're really starving, try the maxi complete jambon crepe. It requires two hands to hold and be sure to get those napkins!
