This park is bare and a bit creepy. It looks like a popular hangout spot for homeless people and scam artists hawking Eiffel Tower replicas for inconsistent prices. (Just hit em with a firm "Non!" and they'll back off). There is very little present in terms of attractive foliage here, and this is hardly the place I would envision going for a romantic Parisian stroll; just the opposite, actually. There are a significant number of areas in the park that are blocked off with wire. Hopefully those are areas containing seedlings and other soon-to-be plants, because the place is in desperate need of a bit of colour. The only redeeming quality is that you can get some really great shots of the Eiffel Tower, as well as yourself in front of it, from this park. So take advantage; just watch your camera and your valuables.

The area was going through some pretty heavy construction while I was visiting so I know I did not get the full effect of how gorgeous this place must be. I still thought it was beautiful and grand. Lots of picnics happening all around, very well trimmed trees, and loads of nice grass. Definitely a must see! Especially if this is your first time seeing the Eiffel Tower (Like me!! I wanted to experience every possible angle of the Eiffel Tower)

Ou la la The Champ de Mars is a large public greenspace in Paris, France, located in the seventh arrondissement, between the Eiffel Tower to the northwest and the École Militaire to the southeast. The French military used to run drills here which is pretty neat. One of my favourite spots to just kick it with a blanket in the grass or one of the many benches with a nice glass of red wine. The space is gigantic and packed with tourist so try to stay away on weekends if you're not in to bumping in to people. I went Friday and i would consider it peak season (mid June) and there was a lot of people but still managed to get my self a great spot on a bench away from the crowd. Yes there is people trying to sell you things but it's normal and they are harmless.

I guess this was where everybody came to drink some wine with bread and cheese. There were lots of people around different times of the day. Looked like everyone was having fun. Personally I feel there's nothing to it really. Just a narrow field leading you to the Eiffel tower which personally I think it's way overrated. It's ok to visit these symbolic icons of the city once in your life though when you want to be a tourist. Visited in August 2010.

Le Champ-de-Mars is a gorgeous public park in Paris that overlooks the Eiffel Tower. The park is named after the Campus Martius, a tribute to the Roman god of war. The park isn't huge, but it does offer gorgeous views of the Eiffel Tower and is a quiet spot to enjoy a good book or have a romantic picnic. My advice would be to walk down Rue Cler and grab all of the essentials for a picnic in the park. Bring your baguette, cheese, charcuterie and wine into the park and find a shady tree to relax under while you dine and enjoy a breathtaking view of the Eiffel Tower. If picnicking in the park isn't your cup of tea at the very least bring your camera to this park for some unforgettable photos!

One of my favorite spots in Paris! What a wonderful place to have a sunset picnic with the Eiffel Tower in the background. You can bring food, wine, and other munchies and hang out with hundreds of strangers. Awesome place to people watch and have a nice night. Go before sunset so you can get a good spot. It gets packed! People are pretty friendly and will help take pictures, but still be careful and alert of the gypsies and creepers.

Great park to see the Eiffel tower, nice to take a walk when the weather is nice.

Somehow my friend and I always ended up at the Champ de Mars while walking around the Eiffel Tower and it was not that impressive. Just a bunch of people relaxing on blankets under trees while people peddled their wares nearby. I could see this being a great place to have a small picnic after seeing the sights nearby, but it is in no way shape or form a "must see" for a trip to Paris.

I visited this garden in April 2016. Overall, tons of people out and about. This is a great place to bring a blanket, picnic basket, and sit under a tree to snack and enjoy the view. It is apparently appropriate/encouraged to bring a bottle of wine or champagne (everyone is doing it). Lots of children playing games, dogs on and off leashes, and business people taking their lunch stroll. If you're american, don't feel out of place because this is what EVERYONE will be doing. Be aware of people trying to sell anything and everything from selfie sticks to mini Eiffel Towers. Some will even sell wine & champagne. Wish I could be back!!

The question is whether you'd want to come back as a more seasoned Francophile tourist. Despite being constantly overcrowded, the answer is definitely yes. This has been the definitive green space that has epitomized classic garden architecture since the 16th century. The fountains, geometric layout, the Musee de l'Orangerie, and ornate statues by the likes of Rodin and Maillol give it the traditional French style we come to expect in Paris. It's also an unquestionable hub for social activity with playgrounds and sailboats on the Grand Bassin. Unfortunately, Jamie W and I weren't here during one of the seasonal events like the summer Fête des Tuileries when a carnival midway is set up, or Paris Fashion Week when runways are built and celebrities flock in frocks, or the Christmas market. The most prominent landmark when we visited was the Paris Cauldron, the mammoth epicentral sphere built for the 2024 Paris Olympics (Photo 6). RELATED - Exploring Paris? Exploring the area, I found this gem of a Parc. I love exploring where the locals go for relaxation and where they eat. After a tasty meal nearby, my friend Mats flew in from London and we explored this lovely park. We mostly stayed under the tree lined paths because it was a hot day. For a park, we were here on a Wednesday around 2pm, lots of people looking like they are having a siesta or a break from work. Everyone seemed friendly, kept to themselves. The park is rich with different plants, trees and flowers. We hiked up to the highest point, from here you have an observation look out on the rooftops of Paris and a gorgeous view of Sacre Coeur. On the way to the top, you get to cross a bridge and below is a little lake. Some parts are rather steep, go at your own pace and bring a bottled water on a hot day and a plus if you wear a hat. Every turn you go into this park had something appealing. If you look at my images, there is also a cave. During raining season, the cave has a waterfall in it, it's very pretty. Plenty of grass room to have a picnic, take a nap or read a book. If you opt for something else, lots of park benches that faces the lake. A wonderful oasis in the heart of Paris. Everyone is welcome here, singles, couples, children, dogs...
