WALL OF LOVE
Daren R.

THE WALL OF LOVE... This wall represents the quote "I LOVE YOU" in different countries affixed to blue tiles on a huge wall - and is a free attraction. Take walk inside the small park and find your country's name. This park is directly in front of the Abbesses 12 subway entrance. Coffee shops and many restaurants surround this area. There is a small kiddie park here as well.

While in Montmartre, make a quick stop at the Wall of Love in Paris. It is just a short walk from the Sacre Coueur. It is a tourist attraction that offers photos ops in front of 312 different ways to say I love you. Built in 2000 by Fredric Baron and Claire Kito, I consider this recent considering all the history this city possesses. You'll notice bits of crimson color splashed across the mural. They say this represents pieces of a broken heart of humanity which the wall attempts to reunite. With benches dotted around the area, you can people watch and then grab an opportunity to take photos in front of this 430 sq ft display. Bring your patience and many a time fellow visitors will offer to take a photo for you in exchange for the same. A well spent 20 minutes!

This wall is right next to metro station and if you are making a trip to Montmartre, this is the must stop on your way. Of course, its pretty crowded and if you want a people less picture, you need to be patient.

How many ways can you say?

A lucky find in the city of romance! Quaint park with benches & short walkway. Free for all, as love should be. Je t'aime!

Le mur des je t'aime, or the The Wall of I Love You, is in Montmartre. It was made in 2000 by Fédéric Baron and Claire Kito. The wall is a pretty part of Place des Abbesses. You can see I love you in over 200 languages. It's a peaceful place with people taking pictures. The closest metro station is Abbesses. The wall has little red pieces painted on it, and it's supposed to bring the pieces together. Nice symbolism!

This is one of those interesting oddities that is worth visiting if you are in the area. It's a wall with "I love you" in a pile of languages. That's the technical term. There were a number of park benches to relax at for a few minutes. It was fun just people watching for a bit, and looking around to find the phrase in English.

Located in a small park near the Sacré Coeur. The wall wasn't too hard to find. Bookmarked it on Yelp and followed the map to the general location. You will know you are close and can follow the other tourists to the single gate into the small park. Depending on the weather and the time of day, it can be a little crowded in the area. The walkway in front of the walk isn't very wide. It's still interesting to try to pick out the various languages that "I love you" are written in on the tiles.

Aimer c'est du Désordre ... alors Aimons! (Loving is chaos… so, let's love) at Le mur des je t'aime (Wall of Love)

This wall has one message and one message only ... repeated over and over again ... 311 times ... in 250 languages: I love you. Le mur des je t'aime (The Wall of Love) attracts tourists and lovers to this quiet garden in Paris' artsy Montmartre neighborhood for selfies and couple kisses thanks to "I love you" handwritten on 612 dark blue enameled lava tiles stretching over 430 square feet. Calligraphist Fédéric Baron and mural artist Claire Kito created the wall in 2000 and it has been free ever since. Mingled throughout the text are several red pieces from a broken heart that can reform a full heart of love. We got off the metro at the Abbesses station and it was a short walk over to the the Jehan Richtus garden and Le Mur de je t'aime. After squeezing in for a few pics between the other tourists, we were quickly on our way to the Amelie Cafe, tour of artist homes, and Sacré-Cœur Basilica. If America wants to build a wall, we should build a wall of love like the French. People will flock to it ... and love it.

I love you too.

Je'Taime. Wo Ai Ni. Saranghaeyo. Te Amo. I love you. However you want to say it, it is said here ... in hundreds of languages inscribed into the infamous "The Wall of I Love You." Violence and hate have ruled the world for so long, the saying "make love, not war" has been the mantra of the loving and optimistic. It's only fitting the most romantic city it the world has a wall dedicated to what might be the most powerful 3 words in any language. Love aficionados, language lovers, couples old and new alike can find something to appreciate about this wall - a time to reminisce over the very romance they once had, still have, or want to have. The wall screams the very definition of possibilities to all who are willing to open their hearts to something incredible and most know the language of love rarely needs translation. The tourists who flock here and the locals who may sit and stare, are sure to find many smiling faces adoring it's simple yet bold wall tiles of love. Recommended for anyone who has ever loved, La Mur Des Je'Taime is Paris' simple reminder that love truly conquers all.

muro de amor liefdesmuur Liebeswand udonga lothando It's the love wall. Black tiles with LOVE written in every language. It's located in a tiny little park in Montmartre. Is it touristy??? Yes. Can you get close to the wall? Yes but you gotta get past the people taking photos. It's a change up from the locks of love that now seem to be in every major city with a fence or a bridge.

Wall of Love.. It is very unique place but not good as I expected. I guess I had bigger expectations and when I saw it up close, it was just so so. But great place for lovers to take photos since writing on the wall are all about LOVE.

"Le Mur des je t'aime" translates to "I Love you : The Wall" I had never heard about this place until I over heard some Australian tourists talking to some German tourists in the "Amelie" cafe. My husband & I were on our way to Sacre Cours so I whipped out my phone to find out more about this "I Love You Wall". Both of us love Art, and it was on the way to where we were heading so we made a detour. Unfortunately the whole time whilst we were in Paris it didn't stop raining. It appears that the English weather followed us. The wall is in a small garden, & there are benches facing it which I'm sure is great to sit on when it's not so wet. The wall is a creation of Frédéric Baron after collecting over different ways of saying I love you in many languages he asked Claire Kito, an artist who practices oriental calligraphy, to assemble the script. Daniel Boulogne an artist who specialises in murals brought the project to completion. The Wall is built on a surface of 40m2 (10 x 4) and composed of 612 tiles of enamelled lava of 21x29.7 cm in size. The shape of the lava tiles remembers of the sheets of paper on which Frédéric Baron wrote his texts. Outside the garden there is a square on the day we went they were offering what appeared to be free soup. We didn't take any as we had just eaten but how wonderful would it have been to get some soup, park yourself on one of the benches in front of the mural, & spot I love you in your own language. Well worth a visit if you want to cheese it up in the city of Love, and it is in a great part of the city. Montmartre is beautiful! For more info go to www.lesjetaime.com

I never planned to go to this place in Montmartre, somehow I thought an I love you wall would be an incredibly cheesy thing. But the words right at the entrance of the Jardin des Abbesses made me smile: aimer c'est du désordre, alors aimons - to love is/creates disorder, let's love then So I was sitting on a bench staring at the wall, took me quite some time to find the only one I love you in my language - don't worry, in English it's written in several places so you won't have the same trouble:P Little by little it all transformed into people watching - a quality one if you appreciate this kind of activity!:) Couples, friends, tourists and locals, families even, a 5 year old boy trying to look cool in front of his girlfriend playing in front of the wall, cheesy indeed but sometimes it can do you some good;) So don't hesitate to rest on a bench here when visiting Montmartre.

My beautiful wife, I love you.

The question is whether you'd want to come back as a more seasoned Francophile tourist. Despite being constantly overcrowded, the answer is definitely yes. This has been the definitive green space that has epitomized classic garden architecture since the 16th century. The fountains, geometric layout, the Musee de l'Orangerie, and ornate statues by the likes of Rodin and Maillol give it the traditional French style we come to expect in Paris. It's also an unquestionable hub for social activity with playgrounds and sailboats on the Grand Bassin. Unfortunately, Jamie W and I weren't here during one of the seasonal events like the summer Fête des Tuileries when a carnival midway is set up, or Paris Fashion Week when runways are built and celebrities flock in frocks, or the Christmas market. The most prominent landmark when we visited was the Paris Cauldron, the mammoth epicentral sphere built for the 2024 Paris Olympics (Photo 6). RELATED - Exploring Paris?
