We were interested in changing them out for motorized shades and Rommel came out to our home for the consultation. He explained that the original cellular shades could not be retro-fitted to be motorized, so we would have to buy new sets. No problem - and totally understandable! Rommel was very patient and thorough with his explanation of why and working with us to understand our project. We ended up purchasing four sets of shades for our primary bedroom to cover two large windows with a two-layer, motorized system of black-out and light-filtering cellular shades. Rommel's installation team (Rene and Martin) were amazing - super fast, diligent, and competent! They also moved the original set of cellular shades we had to our living room, which meant we didn't lose them after all! They also updated the cord pulls for the original set, which we appreciated. The motorized shades have been such a wonderful addition to our master bedroom! We love the total darkness it provides for sleeping in -- and the automatic scheduler to lower / raise the shades as well has proven very convenient. We are VERY pleased with this upgrade. My only, and really only, concern is that the product ends up in the landfill if it doesn't work out. Premium prices for a frustrating experience…read more We spent about $12,000 with The Shade Store on curtains for two rooms, and the process has been one problem after another. The measurements were wrong for both rooms, so both sets of curtains had to be remade. A rod arrived scratched and missing pieces, a track was broken during installation, and the curtain rods weren't installed straight. The installation visits brought more issues. One installer smelled strongly of cigarette smoke, another spilled soda on our carpet, and a subcontractor who came out seemed unfamiliar with the job. The Shade Store paid to have the carpet cleaned, which I appreciate. Every problem has meant another appointment, often at least a month away. The time spent coordinating visits and waiting for corrections has been exhausting. At this price, I expected a much better product and experience. We had planned to use The Shade Store for the rest of our house, but after this, we won't.

The owner, Aida, then reached out and asked for more details about our needs, which I provided. After that, communication stopped. We were told she was dealing with family matters and might be slow to respond, which we completely understood. Icy later explained that they needed to wait until the drywall was up before moving forward. We understood, but we wish this had been communicated earlier, as we spent quite a bit of time preparing detailed information before learning that we would need to wait. In the meantime, we contacted other blinds companies, and they were happy to provide preliminary quotes and measurements and were much more responsive. By the time our drywall was completed, we had decided to move forward with another company. I'm giving 2 stars because Icy was responsive at the beginning, but overall, the experience was disappointing. Their other reviews are very positive, so perhaps we just had an unfortunate experience. We ultimately chose another shade company that was more flexible, responsive, and willing to work with us.

We recently moved to a place that did not have blinds and began using temporary paper blinds. We originally contacted Rebarts Interiors in Los Altos as they had a done a great job with our previous place's Hunter Douglas blinds. We booked their earliest available slot for a design consultation, which was 5 weeks into the future. While waiting, we decided to check out some other Hunter Douglas suppliers. Ego Blinds was the first place we stopped by on a Saturday. Mr. Shin helped us and told us he could do our design consultation that same afternoon. He came over and measured all our windows while my husband and I tried out different color samples and made our selections. I should note that the design consultation was a bit different that our consultation with Rebarts several years prior. The Rebarts consultant gave us lots of suggestions on style, color, etc. and helped us pick the design. Our consultation with Ego Blinds was more self-directed, but this was fine with us as we had a pretty good idea of what we were interested in. Mr. Shin told us the installation would happen in about 3-4 weeks. But he actually far exceeded our expectations by installing the blinds just 2 weeks after the consultation! So we ended up getting all the shades in our house installed before the time for our Rebarts design consultation even happened! (For comparison, several years ago, it took 7 weeks for Rebarts from consultation to installation.) We got blackout Duette top-down bottom-up shades for the bedrooms and roller shades for the common areas. We got our main bedroom shades motorized, and it has been great to be able to schedule the shades to open shortly before our morning alarm (so that we wake up naturally to the sunlight). The Hunter Douglas blinds are excellent quality, and we are very thankful for how quickly Ego Blinds allowed us to ditch our temporary paper blinds. Thank you!

A master piece from window shades installment perspective. 2) check the patio door shades. To make it fully secured whenever you open the door, Mike added a magnet to secure the shades. I didn't think of it but Mike added it without asking. Of course other shades at home look also elegant and beautiful.
