Sean and Molly were AMAZING to work with. They are truly so knowledgeable about the market, loans, renos, and everything to do with the real estate market. My wife and I often joked with Lindsey and Norris that they weren't really real estate agents…read more Nope, they were actually real estate therapists. And to be honest, that's what you need when you're riding the big waves of emotion--the thrill of your offer getting accepted and the agony of a rejection or a tumultuous inspection--which is the home buying process. (To say nothing of doing it all in the midst of a pandemic after moving across the country and restricted to lock down in temporary housing.) We were first time home buyers. We recently relocated from Boston to Boulder County. And we already knew we wanted a broker who only worked with buyers. We started working with the A4HB team months before we moved to Colorado. Our plan was to arrive, see as many houses as possible, and close all in 3 months. The pandemic hit as soon as we got here and everything shut down. Despite the adverse circumstances, the A4HB team had our backs every step of the way. They were incredible. Because of their relentless commitment to helping us find our dream home, we're now settled in a home that exceeded our expectations - in just 4 months. That's not an exaggeration. This happened because of all the details. Their total responsiveness. Their patience. The relentless schedule of house viewings. Their attunement to our needs and desires. Their depth of knowledge on all things home buying. Their deep understanding of the process. Their willingness to hop on a call or answer a text at literally any moment. Their sense of humor. Their coaching and extensive network of contacts who helped us get fast and friendly inspections, super low loan rates, and more. They're also cracker jack negotiators and helped us secure much-needed credits in the 11th hour to save us money and mitigate financial stress. We're super grateful to the team at A4HB, and we can't recommend them highly enough.

We moved from Wisconsin to Colorado and they were invaluable in helping us with our search for a home here. My husband was living in temporary housing in Denver and I was still in Wisconsin making house hunting trips when I was able. Brian and Andrea worked around our crazy schedule AND the insane Denver area housing market around the clock. When I was in town they made their schedules work for us and took us to every house we wanted to see - no small feat, as we were looking anywhere from Littleton, to Castle Rock to Aurora and everywhere in between. They helped us put in competitive offers and were absolutely invested in getting us a home we would be happy in. I can't say enough good things about these guys...they worked their tails off for us and always did it with a smile.

Going in, we had very little insight into the different areas of Denver and were scattered in our approach to house-hunting (read: looking at 5 or 6 different cities/suburbs at once, all with completely different feels). Sofia's guidance, encouragement, and knowledge helped us narrow our search and strengthen our vision for what we wanted the next several years of our lives to look like -- no small feat! House-hunting from ~1000 miles away is tricky business, but Sofia made it possible. My husband and I put together a spreadsheet of dozens of houses to tour once we were next able to visit Denver, but Sofia was able to visit most of them on our behalf and weed out all the ones she was confident were not a great fit for us -- and she was right on every account. Through detailed notes and video tours, Sofia shared minute nuances that zillow photography just can't capture -- like the amount of natural light in a space or the overall vibes (good and bad). We came to trust Sofia's vibe meter better than our own. On one occasion, Sofia saved us from making an ill-advised, sight-unseen offer on a house we were enamored with because she thought, at the last minute, to check the ceiling height of the otherwise lovely finished basement. This is how we realized that it was of nonstandard height and would be basically unusable for my too-tall husband. Neither of us had thought to ask, but Sofia's approach to vetting a house is orderly and exhaustive (and now involves keeping a tape measure in her car at all times should the need arise for ceiling height checking). She was also incredibly patient and thoughtful when answering all our nitty-gritty questions, and always willing to go back and check a room or a house or an area again if we had follow-up questions. The house we ultimately bought was all Sofia's doing. It was just shy of our square footage parameters by 50 square feet or so, so it would never have showed up on our radar without Sofia's prompting. We were in town for just a few days to see several houses on our list, but none of them were striking joy, so Sofia shared a few additional houses to see if we'd considered them. The One True House was on that list. We loved it, and Sofia moved lightning-quick to pull together the paperwork for our offer. It was accepted the very next day without incident. The rest of the process went as smoothly as possible with the help of Sofia and Leah, the loan officer Sofia had referred us to. Sofia navigated negotiations for house fixes/mitigations with ease and aplomb. She handled the hiring and management of all the specialists and technicians and what-have-you that we needed to get the house ready for move-in, all while communicating with us clearly and efficiently every step of the way. She was always a phone call away when we needed her. She even left us the most darling welcome home basket for our toddler and dogs! This was not our first closing, but it was our easiest one, and it made buying and closing on a house feel positively easy. We would highly and wholeheartedly recommend Sofia for all your house-hunting/buying/closing needs.

I worked with Sofia this summer to purchase a home in the Boulder area. I was a first-time buyer,…read moreso I had a ton of questions and needed a lot of hand-holding throughout the process. I had initial phone calls with three different realtors, and Sofia easily stood out - she was both knowledgeable and very easy to talk to! I had planned to fly into Colorado for a long weekend in mid-August to see some homes with her, but ended up moving the trip up to the week prior as there were some new listings that I was interested in. Despite the incredibly last-minute notice, Sofia was able to meet with me for a showing the next day and even cleared out an entire Saturday for us to see more places. Throughout the house hunt, Sofia was incredibly organized and efficient, which was so helpful for me as a long-distance buyer so that I could get as much as possible done in one trip. I put in an offer on one home and was outbid, but Sofia asked the listing agent to let her if know they heard of anything else in that complex becoming available. Coincidentally, there was another unit that was going on the market soon, and I got to see it and put in an offer very early - before it had been on the market for long. Because we were able to move so quickly, the offer was accepted without a bidding war - all due to Sofia's diligence and proactivity. Throughout the closing process, Sofia was very organized, setting up inspections and working with my lender, and she kept me in the loop while still doing all of the heavy lifting on her end. I had a lot of questions throughout that month and she always responded in a timely manner (often within minutes). On the whole, I feel very fortunate to have worked with Sofia - because of her expertise and dedication, I was able to buy a home that I love, at a reasonable price, in an incredibly competitive market for buyers. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone looking to buy in the Denver/Boulder area!

1.) MAJOR Theft/Safety/Security Issues with Markel Homes Employees…read more * Safety Concern #1: A gun was stolen from my home after Markel Homes Employees and/or Contractors accessed my property (after closing) to complete repair work warranty work items. The gun was subsequently "magically" returned after I filed a police report and emailed Markel Homes employees (only), alerting them to the theft. There are further details regarding Markel employees' access to my home after closing and other information that I am leaving out for brevity's sake. * Safety Concern #2: Myself and at least 3 other witnesses confirmed that Markel contractors were seen drinking on the job throughout the day (as early as 11am) on multiple days. Markel Homes maintains they take *strict* security and safety measures, however Jason Markel and other Markel employees were completely unaware of this happening. * I installed a security system and cameras at my home after these two unsettling incidents. One video clearly shows contractors come to my home, looking around, and leaving after they noticed the doorbell camera. I provided this video to Jason Markel and he could not provide a reasonable explanation for why his contractors were on my property, only that he agreed it was of concern. The workers were working at a different house down the street and I have a "Private Owner" sign in front to make it obvious that the residence is occupied. * Despite having video evidence and a stolen (and returned) firearm, Markel refused to take ANY RESPONSIBILITY WHATSOEVER for their employees or do anything to anything to make it right. Markel took the position that I've "already received enough 'concessions' when {I} originally negotiated the purchase of the house," which obviously has zero relation to these current issues beyond illustrating that they pay little if any regard to their customers once they have their money in hand. 2.) Warranty Items and Repairs Remain Incomplete 6 Months After Closing (as of the date of this review). * We closed on 9-24-2019, and Markel has completed only ONE of the many warranty/punch list items they "promised" to complete. I have contacted Markel *and* the warranty company no less than 10 times (if not more), and typically receive a response with an excuse for why they are unable to complete the repair at this time OR they send someone to complete the repairs, however the "completed" items have turned out as bad or worse than the item was to begin with. 3.) Sloppy, Rushed, and Cavalier Work. * Countless instances of sloppy, sub-par work (see photos for just a few examples). Photos were taken of the house at 4 months old, lest you think the work looks as though it's several years old. 4.) General attitude of unhelpfulness and condescension throughout the company. * Markel does an excellent job at making you think *you* are the problem, not their slapdash, careless workmanship or fraudulent employees. It was my understanding that, in the past, Markel Homes has been a quality builder, however, with their entrance into the non-custom home market, it is clear they have very little to offer clients but a "take it or leave it" approach to home building and a reflexive "No."
