It's an older building so it's a little run down but that does not detract from the amazing food. Everything came out fresh and piping hot and I mean Hot! It literally just came off the stove. They have a sign that says "this is not a fast food restaurant, everything is cooked to order so please be patient". It did take some time but it was well worth the wait. We really enjoyed the fresh bread that was brought to the table to start with, the olive oil on the table to dip the bread in was a nice surprise. My wife ordered the cheese ravioli and the sauce was creamy with the right about of spice. The cheese instead the ravioli was smooth and creamy. Delicious! I used the bread to soak up the rest of the sauce after my wife was done, ha. I ordered the Pollo Marsala and the sauce was delicious, I normally like a thicker sauce but was very good, the mushrooms were fresh and not over cooked so it was great and added a nice flavor to the dish, the three chicken breasts we're nice sized was juicy when I cut into them. The only complaint I had was the noodles were under cooked. That was actually the complaint from my daughter who ordered the fettuccini Alfredo without the peas. I would say it was a pleasant experience and I would definitely go back. I would try the spaghetti and meatballs or the ravioli next time. If you are in the area and in the mood for Italian food I would pop in and try it out!

Slice of bacon(real), pickle and olives, rimmed with celery salt & pepper. This was delicious. I ended up having 2! Ordered the onion rings with house made ranch sauce. Love the ranch. The rings were more like strings (which I love). Big ol heap! Loved these. Main course! I got the prime rib with parmesan fries and green beans. Parm fries were crispy and tasted great. The prime had great flavor but was a lil tough to cut. Nice thickness though. The au jus tasted more like pre-made but not quite sure. The green beans were quite rubbery & squeaky but not a huge deal as I had already eaten my weight in onion rings & fries. My other half had the prime rib philly. He said it was good and had great flavor. Wasn't a bad choice. The atmosphere was part bar & grill and other half was quiet sit down type. It was a confusing entry. I think we were suppose to be seated but there wasn't a sign and nobody really acknowledged us when we walked in the bar side. No biggie, we found our own booth. If we would be in the neighborhood again we of course would stop. They had a good crowd. I would suggest to try it out. Oh and I was too full to try the cheesecake but wish I could've.

I will…read moresay that I think it is as good as I expected it to be, but I always hope it'll be better thus I am not leaving a 5-star review. Fried pickles spears with the rock n roll sauce were great. I wouldn't have ordered these except my server recommended them out of all the apps, so I went with that. Fried things at places like this usually lack flavor and are just salty, fried bar food. These had some kick. The rock n roll sauce was like a Mayo with Frito's Chili Cheese Twists, so they were yummy. Tilapia on wild rice was ok, but it's tilapia, so how amazing can it be, right? Broccoli wasn't too over cooked and it still had a healthy green color, so I was happy with that. And the fries were a tad greasy, but they came out hot and crunchy. I think if they let the oil drain off them a bit more under a heat lamp, they'd hold their crispness a bit longer. Oh, and it was an entire plate of fries, so portions were generous. Lastly, everything was served very quickly. The place wasn't super-busy, but it wasn't dead and I was happy about the timeliness. I ordered an app first then placed an order for my entree after munching on that. And I was out done in 45 minutes. Granted, I was eating alone, but still. If you enjoy meat, I highly recommend giving this place a shot. I am a pescatarian (mostly vegetarian) and I have a sneaking suspicion that their beef and chicken options have much more developed flavors.

I got a bottle of cider, and a steak sandwich. The steak was good quality. The sweet potato fries were quite good and the coleslaw was excellent. It was nice to see a slightly wider choice of sides and entrees than the typical small town bar. Here's my gripes. The first bartender didn't even know they sold cider (in bottles). My biggest gripe is the sandwich. Although the steak was good, it was one piece. One, over-sized, piece on a bun. There was no way to pick it up to eat it, so I had to cut it up and eat it open-face style. Every steak sandwich I have had in my life (except for a ribeye sandwich) has been slices of beef, so you could, you know, bite into it and take just a bite worth. Other than a racist regular next to me, it was good meal. 3.5*. Would go again and get a different entree, and maybe avoid Friday nights.

Causing customer to pay over double for their meal after ordering over the phone and coming in to pick up meal. I've been going to Waddys for years. I come here constantly. Every time I have company, inevitably, I always bring them to Waddys. I do road construction, so when I'm working in the area, I'll call in an order and I'll come and pick it up. I have been a massive fan of this place for God knows how long. Today I Ordered Chislic over the phone, because I'm working in the area. I checked the prices online before I ordered, the price online said 15.5 for a full pound. I ordered a full pound, and got a side of fries. What I thought was going to be a nice casual treat for myself getting to eat at one of my favorite restaurants - turned into a $40 (?!!) dollar lunch?? If you want to charge more for your steak, charge more. But tell your customers the cost of the food upfront. It doesn't need to be a surprise thing when the check comes and then you stick them with the purchase. I should have never left feeling like I was stuck with a $40 purchase when I expected a $25 purchase at the most. this is why menus have prices on them. It tells the customer what the dish is going to cost them, so they can budget for the dish. I did not have $40 budgeted to pay for some random lunchtime meal. Suddenly, they started charging "fair market value" for their beef. So that means whatever the market value is of their beef that day, is what the price is of their steak tips. It's a guessing game for the customer to know what they're going to be paying for their steak tips essentially. If you can't update the price daily, then come up with a static price for your meat. What in the fudge Waddys? Out of all of the countries I've been to, all of the states I've been to, All of the hundreds of thousands of restaurants I've been to - never have I purchased a dish with a sliding price scale. When I asked the bar staff about it, she just said beef is at a fair market value price. I told her the price online was 15.5. You need to make sure that you're online prices reflect the fluctuation in prices for your goods. If I had known, I would be throwing $40 down the toilet for a simple lunch today to go to one of my favorite places I would not have done it, I would've waited for a more important occasion, and would've just ordered a simple burger. Also, Who charges "fair market value" on their beef? It's a ridiculous way to price gouge your customers, and 90% of people that come here are regulars. Why would you want to do that to people who wholeheartedly support you. I'm even more pissed that now. I have to find a better restaurant to take Waddys place. The few thousand dollars that I spend here annually I'm sure will be better spent somewhere else. I hope the extra $20 you made off of me today was worth it. Peace 2 stars for the Chislic. Bc I'm not so sore on making a point that I'd completely disregard how good they are. It's the principal, treat your customers like they matter.

I was surprised to see a charge on the bill, although it was nominal it was still something we had never been charged before.

The Fox Hole in Orange City, IA (pop. 6500) has an unassuming façade on a quiet main street, but the food and cocktails they are putting out is what you would expect from a big city restaurant. They certainly had variety on the menu so I am confident that you will find something you love, but whatever you do start with the cheese curds. I'm not sure what they do to them to make them square or lightly fried and not overly dense, but pair them with the raspberry jam they come with and be prepared. These things are phenomenal. I appreciated that the hummus was seasoned and came with marinated vegetables rather than feeling like it had just been taken out of a tub. The miso glazed salmon with forbidden rice and a crushed cucumber salad was phenomenal. However, the star of the show might've been the oven roasted lamb. It had a reduction with mushrooms and carrots and is served with a potato pavè. I've heard of this technique before, but never had it. They thinly slice Yukon gold potatoes, layering them in a baking pan with cream and herbs before cooling them for more than 12 hours. They then cut them in cubes or bricks like this and fry them. It was delicious and I truly appreciate the effort behind each of their dishes and cocktails. The decor was elevated, but not pretentious and the staff was pretty attentive. I thought the price point of their dishes varied enough that it's not going to break the bank and if you're worried about price, they have a pretty stellar happy hour menu that goes until 6 PM with food and drink options. Whether it's a road trip or the tulip festival, put this restaurant on your list of places to try.
