Everybody loves to hate on Pizza Inn. But you have to review it for what it is. Pizza Inn is a fast food pizza chain. You know the crust is going to be thin and crispy. You know the pasta is not your mom's Sunday supper pasta AND you know the salad will fall out of the little bowls because you put too much in there. So here's my review on this Pizza Inn location. The servers are always kind and courteous. They will ask you if you have a special pizza request, because they will make it for you. We have always found the food bar to be well stocked and clean. This trip all the napkin dispenses were empty but as soon as I told the manager some were immediately brought to our table. Something new this trip was the addition of boxes of plastic serving gloves people could use to handle the serving utensils. All the pizza we ate was hot and delicious. Was it NY style or thick crust...no. But it was a very good version of what we have come to know and love about Pizza Inn pizza. read more

I had seen several local reviews saying it was the best pizza. I would like to offer an alternative opinion. With it's bland flavorless crust, odd tasting sauce and rubbery noodles this has to be the WORST pizza buffet I've eaten at. Even the garlic bread was favorless. How do you screw up garlic bread? Why eat here when there are so many good pizza options in Lenoir. Try Frankies or Piccollos instead. read more

Pizza!! Even though I am not a big fan of pizza yes it's true, I only like my Mother's homemade and mine and one local place close to home Louie's Cafe. While out on a Wednesday they have Senior Day here and it saves you approximately $2.00 a meal. This is a buffet that has a bunch of different pizzas as well as salads, and regular Speghetti, and baked Speghetti and meatballs. The last time I was here I didn't like the hot bar stuff just the salad stuff and Buffalo Chicken Pizza This time I have to save I felt the same way, the Speghetti was not good and the meatballs they have floating in hot water? They were nasty like chicken meat maybe? The cheesy garlic bread / pizza was very good. When that came out it was so good hot. Have to say service was horrible. Until they know your close to getting ready to leave then they come by asking how everything is. Yet drinks were empty and had to flag down someone when you needed something. They have dessert pizzas too They looked like they had been there awhile except for a apple one which was all doughy under the pizza. They have pizza inn decorations for the tree which were neat to have the Christmas tree decorated in the dining area I had to share the photos. I don't get the excitement to this place unless it is because people can eat all they want. I would rather go get some good quality food. read more

Pizza was nasty and so was restaurant. Took me 20 minutes to get pizza. Felt like I was a customer in papas pizzeria the way I felt an angry emoji appear above my head. Hubs and I were on a road trip. Had yet to have breakfast. I mentioned the word pizza while telling a story and we find ourselves stopping here at 10:45am for brunch! I believe we were the first people in. The salad bar was laid out. There were a couple of pizzas out under warming lamps. The waitress sat us down and asked if we had a pizza preference. We asked for a couple different kinds. Then went and got some salad and soon our pizzas were ready and on the buffet. The salad was decent - tasted reasonably fresh - not wilted or anything. They had gloves that you could wear while grabbing salad from the salad bar. The pizza was reasonably good too. The crust was thin and crisp. Tasted like other pizza buffet chains. Husband said it wasn't as good as it was when he was a kid. I think it's coz he is an adult now and his tastes have evolved...somewhat. Our server was very nice. She asked multiple times if there was anything else we wanted. And, hence the review. All in all - not a bad buffet option for $8.99 if you are hungry. For me, this was my first salad + pizza brunch and I think I remain a brunch purist. Had to email corporate office. It was bad. Cross contaminated salad bar by worker using her dirty gloved hand to scoop food into the containers. She tossed the replacement salad bags into the meatballs and the baked spaghetti sitting beside it. Sat in those items about ten minutes. Nothing was going to be replaced or tossed out. I complained to manager. Nothing was done about it. Then young man worker came out with new pans, sprayed them and was trying to put the contaminated meatballs into it and the baked spaghetti into another one. I asked him if he was going to put then right back on the hot bar. He said yes. I called the manager again. Told him. He told young man to take it all to the back. Salad girl still using her hands to scoop food into the serving containers on salad bar. He saw it himself this time. He stopped her. I thought I was back in college. This place is an exact copy of the place I ate at every week from 1970 to 1980 in Florida. They even had a 1970 music loop playing and claw game machines. The food was great, the pizza hasn't changed, fresh salad bar, great server, dessert, and baked spaghetti, I love this place! We were there for lunch, it was packed and those people easily went through 20 plus pizzas in the hour we spent there. At 7.99 for all you can eat, this is a great deal. This pizza is AMAZING! we ordered the veggie max, with garlic cheese bread and i am doing my happy dance as i chow down on this delicious meal. I'm from the north where we're picky about our pizza and this did not disappoint. Not only is the food amazing but the sweet woman who took our order was so patient and nice! Also, we had asked for jalapeños but they were out, so someone called us back to let us know and to see if we wanted something else on it instead - outstanding service. Floor was disgusting and we sat for 30 minutes and they didn't bring any fresh pizza and the pizza on the bar was cold!! Tables were dirty and we had to ask for table to be wiped down and then she only wiped half until she noticed and asked if I wanted her to wipe it all. Seriously? Yes wipe the table down. This place was quite a disappointment. I've been acquainted with Pizza Inns since my cousin managed one in the 90's, so whenever I pass one (there aren't any near my house.. wtf?) I can't help but feel compelled to stop in and see how it measures up. In short, this one didn't. It's immediately apparent this place has been around a while. The booths and tables are well worn. The bathroom, while clean(ish), was a bit banged up. The tile/carpet on the floor has seen better days. But it's Shelby, so whatever. We stopped in around 11am, so they hadn't been open a long time that day, so maybe account for that if you're reading this. The food was still being prepared and placed on the buffet as we went in. There were several other families already in the restaurant, so I would hazard a guess that they do steady business. In short, I would've overlooked everything I've written thus far if the food had been good. It wasn't. The meatballs were flavorless and varied alarmingly in color, as though some were cooked (overcooked?) and some weren't quite. The pepperoni and sausage looked like the stuff you found on square school-cafeteria "pizzas" back in second grade. The chocolate chip pizza, which is one thing I always look forward to about Pizza Inns, was undercooked and had some kind of weird custard-y topping. Reeeally disappointing. To top it off, less than an hour after we left I was confined to the bathroom. Read between the lines, you know what I'm talking about. The only thing keeping this review from being 1 star is that our group of 4 ate for under $20, before tip. There's not a lot of places you can go for that price that aren't straight-up fast food, so I'll give them one star for that. But our experience really made me wonder where they are cutting cost to be able to offer those under-$5 buffets! read more

Pros- Chocolate chip pizzert . Wings are tasty. The workers greet you and are friendly. The stuffed crust part of the pizza was good. Cons- They use marinara sauce instead of pizza sauce. The pizza itself was very doughy and soft. The boneless wings are very small. For the same price you can go to any other pizza place and get bigger wings. They can't get an order right. Ordered carry out and confirmed my order twice in one phone call then they called and confirmed a third time. Pick it up and it is wrong. This is my first and last time eating here. Ate there last night with my kids. Fairly busy as it was Senior day. They kept the pies coming and there were quite a few specials ordered. If they don't have your pizza on the bar, they will cook it for you. Our waitress was very attentive and kept our glasses full. The Cherry calzone is the best dessert pizza in my opinion. They have spaghetti, meatballs, soups, salad bar, and the pizza bar. If you leave hungry, it is your fault. The manager and staff are tops. They have some very good pizza makers. read more

Very bad experience. Wish I would have read the online reviews! Then I could have chosen another place to go. Food was bad, salad bar was old and dirty, the lettuce tasted like dirt and the croutons soggy. When we voiced our complaints, the staff obviously didn't care and became defensive. I eat here about once a month with a friend and have always found the food to be good and the service to be quite pleasant. Typically they will make you any pizza you request (the buffalo chicken pizza is very good). They have a nice variety of desert pizzas and a fairly nice salad bar as well as extras like tater tots, mini corndogs,and other hot bar items. Not the best food in the world (and not the best pizza in Shelby) but a decent, inexpensive lunch place with some options and a nice incentive program (they do a punch card that can get you free meals). read more

I hope you're sitting down, because I have a story to tell. After powering through a long day at the office this past Tuesday, we embarked on an Independence Day overnight to the Black Hill Mts. of NC. The non stop oppressive heat of summer on top of the daily 9-5 grind, can cause even the strongest soul to cast their better judgement aside. Holiday traffic and a navigation app mishap only added to our despair, and led us down a path I don't plan to travel again anytime soon. With nothing but a sea of red traffic lights on the horizon, we suggested an early dinner stop to wait out the traffic and get the nourishment that we all so desired. A stop at Chick-Fil-A, Pie Hut, or even Mickey Don Don's would have fit the bill. However, our bunk mates for the High Holiday decided to throw a wild card into the dinner discussion. The Pizza Inn in Shelby was the suggested supper spot. I had never been there, let alone heard of it, but hey who doesn't like a good pie. The reviews were quite good, and pictures showed nothing but mouth watering pizzas. After thorough research, I was all all in. (On a side note, whoever is during the Pizza Inn photography, needs to start working for National Geographic or Time Magazine, because what they are doing with the camera lens is the equivalent of turning water into wine) Once we all met up in the parking lot, our riding mates informed us they would not being eating, and they would take the dog so we could enjoy our meal worry free. I had my heart set on the Taco Pie, and after holding out the additional hour, I was eating then and there come hell or high water. It is that very mindset that leads to mistakes that you can't reverse. Upon entry, the buffet caught our eye, but no Taco pizza was on the counter. Our waitress was a delight, and informed us that she would request that our pizza of choice be tossed in the oven and added to the buffet, problem solved. We all went with the buffet, expecting satisfaction and jubilation. Sadly all that we got was sadness and disappointment. I wrestled the rest of week with questions "where did it all go wrong? who is to blame for the Pizza Inn fiasco?" After a few days of soul searching, I realized, I am. Okay. Confession time. I've been to Pizza Inn a few times... AND I used a...a...coupon. That was cathartic! This place gets pretty busy around lunch and early dinner times. There's a large salad and pizza bar. Your waitress takes your drink order and asks if you have any special pizza requests. The best way to make sure you're getting a fresh pizza is to pick one that's not on the buffet yet. You guys know how these pizza buffets work. At lunch time you're safe with the amount of turnover, but other times it might have been there a while. The salad choices are not extensive but they do have pasta and some hot bar items for the kids. A small arcade is in the back corner which will either occupy your kids while you eat, or distract your children from eating their own food. I really like the flavor of their bacon cheeseburger pizza; they actually put some mustard and dill pickle slices on it!! So good! The logo always makes me chuckle - kind of like Pinocchio/a little kid with a mustache... This place is A-Okay, just remember to bring your ...cough...choke...coupons! read more
