I've never thought of trying Pizza Hut, especially in a busy city centre location with lots of other alternatives for cuisines, such as genuine Italian restaurants, serving Pizza and pasta etc, but looking for something new, where I could get a gluten free meal, I decided to call in Pizza Hut on Corporation Street, which surprisingly is classed as the Arndale Centre despite being just outside the shopping mall next to the former WHSmith and future JD Sports unit.
Pizza Hut is accredited by Coeliac UK, meaning chances are you should be able to get a good gluten free meal with staff who know what they are doing, sadly this didn't seem to be the case.
When I asked about the gluten free selection, the staff was a little cautious when talking to me about it, the original server who sat me down didn't seem to know anything other than the pizzas, another man did come over but he still didn't seem too knowledgeable, he just told me I couldn't have the chips and of course the pizza bases were frozen.
Inside, there are some nice aspects to the decor, albeit most of the tables are quite high and there isn't a great deal of seating.
In the end, due to the fact of the gluten free pizza bases being frozen, and the issue of there being no sides, I was basically just handed an allergy book and told to "get on with it", this was a shame, I didn't feel welcomed or anything of that nature which I'm sorry to report, hence I decided to eat at Dough Pizza Kitchen and had a decent meal, elsewhere in Manchester City Centre. read more
