It was two layers of their thin crust with cheese and sauce in between and then another layer of cheese, sauce and veggies. It was really good! Ingredients were fresh and good quality. Pizza House is one of the best places around Zion for Italian Beef sandwiches. Always double dipped with mozzarella cheese and sweet peppers with a side of fries. They have the best fries around. There is a nice area in the front for sitting and waiting on your order and a decent size dining area for eating in. The team is nice and very helpful. The plus is the offer daily specials. I really hate to do this as I have frequented Pizza House since just after the pandemic. It's a once in a while treat as it's down the street from where I work. Unfortunately, their prices continue to skyrocket. Less than a year ago most of their Daily Specials were under $10. Now most are closer to $14. For those prices there are other dining establishments I would rather frequent. It's too bad because their Sausage and Beef are good. Also, standards are beginning to slip on Pizza. The last few times it has been extremely greasy and the base is soggy. The toppings literally slide off the crust?! It has a few tables inside this cramped place. There's also a counter along the wall. Last time there were a few locals hanging around forever. The majority get pickup though. It's about $16 for a specialty pizza. The Vegetable Pizza is one of these. Loaded with it. This has black or green olives, green peppers, mushrooms, onions, and tomatoes. To begin, we have now resorted to paying with cash because our card info was stolen and an attempt to use at MGM betting for $1600. Tonight they messed up our pizza. We asked for pepperoni, extra sauce, well done. They gave us extra sausage. They told my mother in law they would remake the pizza, but said no we would make do. She asked for them to at least give us the pizza because it was a screw up and they were adamant they couldn't do that but would give $2 off. So they can waste the pizza and make a new one at no charge, but can't correct their error?? There is zero accountability at this place. read more

This place is your average pizza place, except that it's not. Good thin crust pizza but the star of their show is the double decker pizza. Yes you heard correctly, double decker pizza. Two pizzas stacked on top of each other. It's delicious! We normally just call ahead and have our order made for a certain time that we know we will be ready to pick it up. The guy at the front desk is always really nice and we've never had a problem with our orders. I've read other reviews about the lack of friendliness and bad attitudes but I've been coming here for several years and I've never seen it. They've always been polite and friendly to me. On our way from Chicago, our driver highly recommended this place, claiming it is one of the best pizza places in town. Well as far as uniqueness and taste, he was right on. We ordered the 12 in Pepperoni and sausage thin crust pizza with 6 pc hot wings and they were pretty good. OVERALL I'm glad I tried this place out, it really isn't a pizza place to fly from West Texas for but it is worth the try! Had pizza delivered for a lunch and learn. Food quality is mediocre at best. The thin crust was ok. The toppings were plenty, not very flavorful. The side salad was absolutely gross. This was a whole Italian sausage covered with Italian beef and melted cheese. Absolutely amazing!!! One funny thing though is it says fries and a drink included but if you don't ask for it you don't get it. Also I saw a picture on the wall and asked what it was., she said fried mushrooms, the best you've ever had. She was right. They have pizzas there too thin crust and deep dish. Just because the staff doesn't present pretty smiling faces and "flair" buttons (see "Office Space") doesn't mean they are rude. Sure the metal is blaring, and they have that indifferent teen sulkiness. They don't hide the fact that they don't care about your button-down, milquetoast life because they f...kin' rock out, and you are a pimple on humanity's ass, dude. If you want fake smiles and feigned interest in your dining experience, go elsewhere. That said, I love their lunch slice special, and I eat it there because, even though I'm not a head-banging metal head, I do have a nut sack with hair on it. It's not the most refreshing dining experience, and I wouldn't recommend dining in for families. But the pizza is so good that I practically inhale it in one bite, which limits my exposure to the den of hell sounds pounding away on the other side of the wall. The crust is ultra-thin (cracker) with high-quality sausage that has never produced gristle and a tangy sauce. I like a thicker crust, usually, but this is good pizza, end of story. They also have a double decker (exactly what it sounds like) which I haven't tried, and I haven't done the deep-dish yet either, which is a pan pizza. So, if you're on your lunch break, or buying lunch for your office, you have a better-than-average choice in the Zion/Waukegan/Winthrop area. If you are a family, and you like serving your kids the sub-par dog-vomit pizza from chains that advertise on television, you have lots to choose from in Waukegan and the environs. But if you love your kids, and you want your kids to love you in your old age, then do yourself a favor and give them the priceless experience of ordering takeout and eating the real thing from a hometown pizzeria. Sure, it costs a little more, but consider it to be insurance against being stuck in a malodorous state-run senior facility in your twilight years. And rock on. read more

When asked what can she do to make my experience better she said "I can make your pizza again or give you your money back." When addressing the situation, she spoke to me as if she wasn't concerned about an upset customer. Based on my experience, this restaurant doesn'tcare about making their customers happy. I've been a customer for over 30 years. Today, I ordered a double decker pepperoni pizza for delivery. I had to wait 2 hours for delivery, tipped the driver and when we dished out pieces to eat, we discovered it was half sausage. I drove to Pizza House with the remaining pizza (since delivery took so long, waiting for a replacement was an easy no) to get a refund and then go to other food locations to pick up dinner. When I arrived and showed the pizza receipt showing pepperoni was ordered and the pizza itself with sausage, I asked for a refund. The first response was, "but you ate three pieces!" He clearly did not want to give a refund for the whole pizza. I didn't realize I needed to bring the partially eaten pieces back, too. I then demanded 5/8 of a refund which is what I ultimately got as a credit to my account. I had to pay for the three missing pieces that were incorrectly made. For a customer experience, this was shocking. The wait, delivery charge, tip and my gas to drive there to get the now partial refund was very disappointing. To everyone: if a pizza is made wrong, remember to bring ALL partial pieces back and also to throw up the pieces you ate and bring them back to the store so you get your full refund.
