My 1st negative review ever, I think. This place makes an in house gluten free dough, unfortunately, the staff seems to have no idea or training on what gluten is, how to prevent cross contamination, and how serious it can be for some people. I got sick from it. I HATE being a pain in the ass to restaurant workers regarding gluten, and I chose to risk eating here, but if you are going to tout from scratch gluten free pizza dough, please train your staff. read more

organic foods carrying the organic moniker 'like' 10 years ago used to be bland and tasteless. promise pizza takes you back to that time - the pizza here is just gross. stickiest and chewiest crust 'eva' - no taste - its just like cardboard. we are american's and we love everything super-sized - well at least they go the opposite here and you will see the tiniest large pizza in your life - you would think you ordered the kiddie or personal size pizza. there are allot of other places in town which use fresh and local ingredients... please consider going to these places... in fact your probably saving the local economy and environment by going fresh and local than organic shipped from who knows where - montana or some square state. so if you like spending 20+ dollars for cardboard just so you seem like an elitist organic freak - go ahead - no gluten my *ss. read more

The food is consistently good but be careful if you get delivery and pay with cash. I called in an order and specifically mentioned I needed change, but the driver had nothing to break a $20. Food is great, but not worth a 35% tip. read more

I had a hole in my pocket. Wanted to eat an Indian desi pizza and so ordered from this place. I ordered two pizzas ( medium) size. One is a paneer tikka pizza and the other is a chicken masala pizza. Both taste Ok and the crust is very thin (never asked for a thin crust) Both the pizza crust were over baked, too thin, tasted weird, not much cheese on it, and had to do a treasure hunt for the paneer. ( very few pieces of paneer). The price for the pizza was slightly higher than expected and the quality is dissappointing. read more

Just tried this place for the first time. Not disappointed!! The delivery was fast. The gentleman who took my order over the phone was SO nice. And the pizza..... YUM. I had a personal Prosciutto Special and I will forever crave it now. Perfect amount of sauce. Real shaved Parmesan cheese that set it apart from other places. Super satisfied and I don't feel disgusting after eating it like I do at a lot of other places. I will definitely be ordering from here again. read more

We ordered online and they had a $22 family deal with a gluten-free pie, a salad, and a gluten-free brownie. The pizza was pretty damn good, in fact I had a hard time believing it was gf. Promise Pizza is recommended for someone looking for a gluten-free, dairy-free pizzeria... but the only true way to enjoy a quality pie is to possess the dietary enzymes necessary to process gluten-laden flour+water and true mozzarella. Sorry, but real pizza just kicks too much butt to have to resort to PP. Hehe... peepee. I am on a high horse while writing this because I am studying nutrition. Just kidding. I do not normally search for--much less eat--foods geared toward special diets. In effect, I really went out of my comfort zone and tried out this stuff. I mean I suppose that the novelty favor makes it sort of an exciting experience. Well, I went all out with the "dietary restriction" pizza. I ordered a gluten-free plain pizza with Daiya cheese. Needless to say, it was a very interesting pizza. The chewy texture and nutty flavor were attributed to the tapioca based dough. The tanginess of the "cheese" was attributed to the various ingredients inside the foodstuff. Yes, foodstuff is a word--I am a nutrition major! Certainly a small pizza meal for $14, though! Overall, not bad... especially if you have a GI problem. I went opposite and ordered a normal calzone. It was actually not as enjoyable to eat as the rather intriguing special pie. The crust was a bit soggy, and the cheese had that low-fat overly elastic texture. The interior was just bland as a whole. Also, the marinara sauce was fridge-cold. Not terrible, just not great. But, I also want to leave a comment about Pizza Day (formerly known as Promise pizza) located at 10225 Research Blvd #110, Austin, TX 78759 I discovered this place by stumbling upon it randomly, while shopping, and just wanted a bite to eat. I ordered the small personal size pizza special for 5.99. And it was the best small pizza I had ever had since moving into Austin from N.Y. one month before. Needless to say NY has some of the best pizza you can find on any block you on without complaining about eating a bad slice. Since that very first time I ate that personal pizza and the manager said it's "my promise" "to give you the the best" I couldn't stop returning to try ALMOST every item on the menu. But..... Upon returning 1 month and 1/2 after promise pizza turned into pizza day... (to sadly put it it) The PROMISE that i was receiving before hand would NO LONGER be my PIZZA DAY. Once the transitioned was complete. So were the ingredients. Did I mention the customer service went down hill? You could immediately see all the red flags shown when a new owner or new management takes the reigns. And we're not speaking of GOOD ownership here. To shortly put it, the partner (turned owner) is not customer service friendly. That guy should be in an enclosed room with chair, desk , and computer dealing with the accounting side of things. This place is GREAT. I wouldn't have started eating here if my partner hadn't gone vegan in January of 2011. They're the only restaurant in Austin I know of that has vegan cheese as an option right on the menu, and they don't be ashamed of that, either! So when we're in the mood for pizza and we don't have the time to make it ourselves, we get something from PP. I've had their regular provolone and mozzarella blend as well and it tasted fab. Tonight, I got an email from the restaurant about a special deal they were doing for Texas Independence Day; basically $3 off an extra large with two pizzas to choose from. We got the "Natural Choice" minus mushrooms. It is, by far, my favorite thing on the menu now. The toppings are chopped red onion, basil, tomatoes, green peppers, and olives with their special pizza sauce and the Daiya cheese we got instead of regular. Yum! If you haven't been here and need a suggestion, get the "Natural Choice," whether you get it with Daiya or not. And don't forget a couple Blue Sky sodas (I usually get root beer!). Yes, the prices are higher than they are at Domino's, but they aren't unreasonable. Our pizza total was around $17 for that extra large 16". That's four servings for us, essentially $8 for dinner tonight and $8 for lunch (or breakfast) tomorrow for two people. That's $4 per serving! I'm not sure why someone could complain about that. The food here is quite good and they offer a gluten-free option and vegan cheese. However, the single star is for my experience today. I've ordered delivery from them many times, but today I got a call-back from my online order telling me I'm outside their delivery area and they would have never sent anyone to my neighborhood. I don't have a lot of options for GF/vegan so I was extremely happy for Promise to be my "I'm feeling lazy, go-to option for satisfying my pizza craving." W I N! I am a fan. I always wait until a return visit to give five full stars. The service was superb. Super enthusiastic, helpful and friendly. I could eat their stuffed mushrooms all day everyday. My fiance was in love with the stuffed jalapenos. They were a little spicy for me but to be fair I am a total wimp about fresh japs. We had the BBQ Chicken pizza. My husband and I love this place so close to our hood and they deliver if your too lazy like us to go up the street to pick it up but thats niether here nor there. We orderd the veggie pizza, a hawaiian , and a calzone,oh yes and bread knots total carb overload for 2 hungover people. So the pizzas were yummy the dough was very good we got the regular crust they give you a few crust options which is nice, the veggie pizza was amazing so harty full of fresh veggies the sauce was light everything tasted fresh. The calzone was huge a meal in it's self but my husband has a thing for calzones,you can build it choose what meats and cheese you like to have in it I had a bite it was yummy the sauges was tasty. The Hawiian was so good it was on a thin crust it was salty sweet goodness one of the best I have had in a while, I can wait to try out more of there pizzas! 2 thumbs up!!! :D read more

I ordered delivery and it arrived cold and incorrect. I called to let them know and was transferred to the chef who ended up yelling at me, guessing my name based on my order (which felt creepy), and telling me I needed to call Eat24 to get a refund. I called Eat24 and they said that the restaurant would have to approve the refund. Long story short, the restaurant didn't approve it and I never got a refund. Overall horrible customer service, which I should have guessed based on the reviews. read more

Please check the "Not recommended" reviews for this place. There's a lot going on that isn't exposed or counted against their overall score. I suspect Promise Pizza is paying Yelp to hide bad reviews (see http://www.sfgate.com/news/article/Yelp-can-give-paying-clients-better-ratings-5731200.php). They're certainly cognizant of these bad reviews per John C.'s last review of this place. I'm writing another one-start review for this reason - my legitimate bad review got marked as 'Not Recommended' by Yelp (mine isn't the only one, wonder why). They have horrible customer service. I suspect there is a cultural disconnect with the managers that work there. To Promise Pizza: Just because you're busy occasionally doesn't mean you should dismiss legitimate complaints because you can point at the busy order screen and smirk. You keep that attitude and you will lose regular customers. Paying off Yelp won't help you in the long run. read more

So let me start by saying anything that delivers to my hotel gets a star for that. The house salad was really fresh and good. They have a nice dressing that was like an Italian I believe. Pizza crust was whole wheat thin so it should have been crispy, but it was more chewy than I would have liked. Still, there were good fresh topping choices and I could tell it wasn't swimming in tons of preservatives. I would try them again and maybe try a calzone. read more

The organic theme is not my thing, so I'm judging the pizza. For me it was overpriced and mediocore. I wouldn't rate them above any other chain competitor. Only if you're into the organic gimmick it may be worth paying the extra dough . . . hehehe. My body has been ingesting all the drugs and chemicals for years in "regular" food that going organic now isn't going to give me any years back, so I'll stick with cheap and greasy. If it's going to suck, might as well cost less. One reviewer says Promise uses the same dough as Austin's Pizza, but somehow tastes better? The pizza tastes like a grocery store pizza to me and not any better than chains. The sauce was too sweet for my taste. The sausage topping was tiny, grounded balls that look processed all to hell. UPDATE: They seem to be having some growing pains. The cash discount is over and certain toppings and specials are not always available. First visit was good. Second was even better. Promise has lots of healthy options. Vegan options are great as they offer Daiya non-dairy cheese. It's great stuff and soy-free if that matters. They have really good deals that are attached to the menu if you visit in person. Additionally, they give you a cash discount (instead of credit)! read more

Pizza is great, tasty. But customer service is poor. I called around 8.30 pm one night and was put on hold for more than 20 minutes. I disconnected and called again, the receptionist was bit rude and said he was busy attending other customers and cannot take my order. I thought may be they were really busy and called the next day around 5 pm, guess what, the same routine happened. I was on hold for 20 minutes and when I called in again he asked me call after 30 minutes to place the order and the order would take 45 minutes from then. I got frustrated and disconnected. Just one free advice to keep business running: if you were really busy even at 5 pm then you should consider employing more (and efficient) resources to handle the demand; if you weren't that busy then consider employing responsible committed people to serve customers better, again to avoid running out of business soon. read more

We ordered from here after seeing their fusion pizzas. We got a large butter chicken pizza, large four formagi, pepperoni rolls, and cheesy rolls. Everything was excellent and the pizzas were soooooo good. I ordered for pick up and they were slammed with orders but the guy let me know ahead of time that it could be about 45min. The time was accurate. I was waiting for my food and noticed several orders being picked up by Indian people which was a good sign. The butter chicken pizza was really good and flavorful with spices. There was a good amount of chicken too. The four formagi was my kind of sweet and savory combo. I loved it. The pepperoni and cheesy rolls were also really good too but the pizzas were the star. I had Pizza Day delivered by UberEats. The Pizza Day staff were super responsive (through Uber) with my gluten free pizza. I have celiacs, so it is most important for me that stuff like this gets done right. They did. The service was awesome, but the pizza? The pizza??? WOW! I live in Cedar Park and will only eat pizza from here. It is that good. Seriously. I drive (or Uber too) by dozens of good-to-awful pizza joints just to eat here. I was in town and wanting a pepperoni pizza from here for lunch. It has been one of my favorite places and come here at least three times when I'm in town for work. I'm usually in town for about a week once a month. I called but the recording said they were busy helping customers. So I decide to go in to order. As I walk in the guy says he has to leave in 2 min and isn't accepting any orders. This is on a Thursday at noon. Apparently they were closing at lunch on a Thursday which can't be good business. Really good alternative pizza for those of us who have left behind the old unhealthy pizza ways. All fresh and organic, and tasty. We ordered the gluten free crust because that's how we roll and it was one of the better crusts we've had. So why three stars? We all know how much produce costs. I'm thinking for the amount of money these pies cost the pizza should be loaded with toppings. Our came with a scant scattering of goods. With a thin crust and light toppings, two people go through a whole pizza pretty quick and can still feel hungry. When we get a hankering for pizza, and don't want to take the time to make our own, this will be our go to place for a special treat. And we'll have extra toppings at home to toss on. :) read more
