I went there based on a recommendation and overall the pizza was decent and the service was on point until.... I got the bill, paid it, and added a $30 tip on a $30 dollar check; but for whatever reason the transaction timed out because I must have missed the button to complete the trransaction. I asked the person who was serving me to reset the machine so I could pay again and re-add the tip. I put my card in the machine, and the lady who was serving me took the cc machine and clicked 30% for the tip and handed the cc machine back to me as if I was stupid and did not know what she did. What made it worse was some dude came up to me and tried to tell me that is what the business does, right after I had seen the screen and options prior as if that was their policy. As one who has been in tech and the restaurant business for many years, I could not believe they were tying to pretend that it was ok.. It was crazy because she would have made more money off of me, let alone my friends for the rest of the week. It was SHADY that she would do that. The best thing was that it was open late when we were hungry. My server did not understand even a smidgen of English. There was no bbq sauce added to the bbq chicken pizza. The fried chicken? Easy & quick pizza place! Came in on a Friday evening befofe the crowds. It worked out great! They had Presidente Bottles for $4 and a Double Butter Whiskey on the rocks was $7.50. Not bad IMO. The pizza was pretty OK. It was definitely late-night cheesy gooey pizza but we were ok with that! A Large was huge - 12 pieces, could easily feed 3 / 4 people. So the food; it was not the best thing I ate neither was it the worse thing I ate. It got the job done and it was huge; I ordered a sandwich. If you are hungry and it is really late then this is the place for you. I do think I ordered the wrong thing because there were a lot of people there and they looked super happy. I am not sure if they were drunk and I was sober so I could taste the food but overall it is an ok place and I would go back to see why it was so full. Horrible experience here! Terrible customer service. We waited in line to be seated for over 45 minutes. As we waited the server came and took people from behind us and seated them. People were walking in front of us and being seated. When we asked to be seated we were told to wait. When we were seated we saw the party leave. The table wasn't even cleaned off. The plate and cups removed but that's it. The table wasn't dirty from food and sticky from drinks. We continued to try and get anyone's attention to clean the table. We were literally ignored. I asked for a cloth to clean the table and was given a few napkins. Wow. I went to rest room to get something clean with. The bathroom was gross and smelled like old dirty mop water. It was hot and dirty in the entire restaurant. This is a popular spot. It's on the strip by the beach. This is how y'all operate???? We never got water. We kept asking for it. We never got an opportunity to place an order. We were seated an hour when I said let's go.. let's go walk the strip and see what else is open. That's how we ended up at the Japanese restaurant. Came here after a night out (not drunk, but buzzed). It's definitely one of those places you would come to after drinking as many of patrons at the time were doing. Even being buzzed, the food was horrible. Laughable, really. Pizza was soggy and oily as hell and the bolitas yuca con queso were undercooked and hard at the same time. Service was non-existent and it took forever to sit down, get the food AND then pay for it. We honestly should have stopped by a petrol station and ate snacks from there. Pizza City is a BIG GUNS blazin' beach town spot. Rolled into San Juan for a 5 night stay at the Aire de O:Live last night late. By the time me and Cary got out to scope out the scene, it was 1 AM. First thing you have to know is the beach resort area -at least in Isla Verde West - in San Juan is pumping all night long. I had never visited, so O was relieved to see people walking around the streets with drinks... mixed.... Bottles... no matter ...so that told be this was a fun party town. So then we step into Pizza City. Nice waitress, super cheesy 'three cheese pizza' -they serve it with a large container of grated Parmesan, garlic powder, and crushed red pepper on the side. We ordered a couple of piña coladas ... Now look, this isn't Italy here, right? And I'm from East Boston, where you used to trip over pizza shops... so I love pizza ...all pizza. But the thing about Pizza City is that it's a fun scene. Tons of local young people, music pumping (like everywhere else). But a good old school beach town vibe. There were young couples out on double dates, a We liked our piñas, so after walking down to the gas station market to buy a few provisions, we stopped back in as we headed back to the hotel and ordered another -this time at the bar. We like our piña coladas with dark rum -and they had Brugal (a dark rum from neighboring Dominican Republic). When we ordered the drinks an exuberant man fist pumped me and exclaimed "Brrugaaal" and asked in Spanish if we were from Dominican Republic. He insisted that we sit and have a shot of Brugal with him. We spoke in broken Spanglish for a few minutes. The guy's name was Wilfredo. Turns out he was the owner of Pizza City, Los Pinôs in Old San Juan ...and another place whose name I can't remember. Wilfredo has owned the business for 11 years. The rest of Pizza City's ratings say it's a 3 point something. I gave it a four, because man... I appreciate a lively, fun neighborhood-style joint with fun characters any day BTW coming to San Juan (and Puerto Rico) for the first time my research tells me that I need to try Mofongo -a fried mashed plantain dish stuffed with various fillings. I was able to ask Wilfredo about his Mofongo, and he jumped up, and blew an Italian style finger kiss into the air LOL. I'd seen a table of 4 boisterous twenty-something's -one of which had what appeared to be Mofongo with shrimp while we were there for pizza earlier. It looked like a legit late-night fried masterpiece -if you like a good deep fried feed when you're out partying... I guess that's the point here Pizza City is a great going to the dance clubs, getting into town late, beach food joint with a youthful, well-worn, open to the street irreverence that I loved. -tons of young people filtering in and out at all hours... a fun scene to take in ...shows a lot about how San Juan 'hangs'. read more

Going to break this down very simply. My friend and I spent a good amount of time at Pizza City when we were in PR in January 2020. We recently visited again but stayed a bit of a ways away. However, we made sure to take a trip to Pizza City on our first night back in town. You can't beat a 24/7 food and drink place like this! Pros: - 24/7 - Strong and affordable drinks - Tons of food options (and the pizza is actually good) - Very friendly staff - Easy location to find - very brightly lit Cons: - Everything is fried. This is not somewhere you come to eat healthy - Bathrooms can be questionable but they have them A fantastic spot if you are in Carolina and are a hungry tourist. They'll treat you nicely! read more

We wanted to get one more meal before we headed to the airport and I would always see this place packed at night so I figured we'd try it out. The ambiance was only nice because it was on a Main Street and you got to people watch and it's in great walking distance to the beach. We walked over from the hotel and as many employees around NOONE was there to greet us. Things to note are: 1. They don't speak much English but again I know we were in PR so that didn't bother me :) 2. The menu is pretty much all fried! This was so shocking to me. I was for sure there were tropical fruit and foods here in PR. Not once did I have a mango, a banana, nothing! everything contained deep fried pork or some sort of hard fried foods. We finally sat down and got a menu.. they took a pretty long time to bring the food back. Like we were coming up against time for our transportation to get us back to the airport. The food was very basic. Disappointing. Maybe they are packed for drinks. Which by the way weren't good and kinda expensive. I left it there. This would not be a place I'd visit again. read more

The service is HORRIBLE. We waited 40 min for a soda (that comes in a can). Then we had to remind our waistress about our other drinks. The servers seem like they don't want to be there and or have any team work. We saw our pizza come out of the oven, and one of the servers (who looked like she wants to be anywhere but at her job) walked by it 5+ times. Stopped by Pizza City with family. We were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken. The service was a tad slow, but not too bad. This is, after all, located in a highly touristy area and is open to the street. As you walk by, you can scope out how busy they are. On this visit, we requested some appetizers and pizza. Despite having "pizza" in their name, they offer a full Puerto Rican menu, including steaks and mofongo. And their non-pizza offerings are high quality and tasty. So don't be afraid to veer away from pizza here. The chicken mofongo was pretty good, if not a bit salty. The pizza was very good, but they were out of basil. So our margherita pizza wasn't a true margherita, however, it was tasty nonetheless. The locals love this place, which is surprising because you'd think they'd avoid the tourist traps. I'm not sure what the issue with most folks are but the food was good, the drinks were strong, the service was tad bit slow but you are on vacation so what's the rush. The red snapper had the most flavor on the entire damn island. Also had a combination pizza which was also fresh, hot, huge, and more than enough for one slice. I'd def give it a 5. Only thing is it's outside and I was bitten 5 times lol by a mosquito but it's Puerto Rico so not surprised with all the rain and humidity. Went to Pizza City during my recent trip to San Juan and after being indecisive for hours of what I wanted to eat lol. Finally settled on Pizza City and must say I'm glad I did. Had a pepperoni slice and a mojito that was both good and strong :) Not to mention, good vibes at this spot and music is on point that caters to both tourists and the locals for decent mesh. I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at Pizza City was upsetting enough to share. If I could give ZERO stars, I would. From the moment we arrived, it was clear the staff was uninterested in providing basic hospitality. No greeting, no smile--just cold indifference. Any questions or requests for assistance were met with extreme disinterest or ignored altogether. Normally, in this situation we would just leave and not patronize the establishment. However, we had children who were patiently waiting in our condo room for something to eat. Since there were very few options open in the area, we pushed through and ordered food anyway. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! The tipping point was when we had to address another customer--a white woman--about her rude behavior toward us. Instead of handling the situation professionally, the staff chose to escalate matters unnecessarily by calling the police on us. As a tourist, the last thing you want is to deal with legalities away from home. We left the establishment and was forced to deal with additional officers who were waiting on the street corner. Not once did the restaurant owner, manager, leader on duty, or staff member ever approach us to say anything, see what the issue was, or even to just simply ask us to leave. Instead, they chose to call the cops on us. Not only was this shocking, it was completely unacceptable. This establishment failed on multiple levels: customer service, respect, and basic human decency. If you're considering visiting, be prepared for a potentially hostile and unwelcoming atmosphere. P.S: Once we finally made it back to our room, we realized it was all a waste of time cus the kids refused to eat the food-and they're not exactly picky eaters. came here spontaneously for an early dinner. was craving pizza. open space with plenty of seating but only one waiter. she sat us down quickly but we had to wait a bit for our food. the pizzas are HUGE and we got the standard not the large. we got half of the cheeseburger and half hawaiian. they charge you extra to do half and half - i was not told this when i placed the order which was annoying but i guess it is my fault for assuming it will be no extra charge (both are the same price but they charged $3 extra for doing half & half). i guess it's worth the $28 due to the size of the pizza since we were able to share and take half of it home for next time. the pina coladas were around $8 but tasted artificial, can skip. the hawaiian was good but the cheeseburger was really salty - don't recommend. overall i didn't have any issues with the waitress like i saw the other reviews wrote (i can see how her chill vibe can be mistaken for nonchalant but i don't see it as being "rude"). i don't see myself coming back here but this place does open late and is right in front of the beach so if you're looking for pizza (nothing quick) then this place aint too shabby! read more

Stayed across the street from Pizza City. Saw how active and popular it seemed. My wife, daughter and I chose to stop in on our way home from a night out for a last bite of the night. If you are a local, it would seem that you are welcomed like family. For me and my family we were met by a very rude and hateful young waitress. Every question or request was met with attitude. The food was good and the manager receptive to our voicing our concerns as we left. I have been to PR several times and stayed in the condos across the street two of those times. This was my first and last time I will stop in to get a bite at this establishment.
