Locally praised for its delicious, freshly-baked pizzas and authentic Italian pastas, this relaxed, family-run restaurant is a great place to visit for a romantic evening meal or a smouldering lunchtime coffee. The Venitian decor inside and piped Operatic music whip up a soothing, apt atmosphere and the open kitchen provides some subtle tableside entertainment in the form of dough-flipping chefs. The restaurant offers a diverse menu, iron Italian chairs and pasta-filled glass tables, all adding to the classy ambience and the members of staff are friendly, welcoming and very efficient. Sadly, you will need deep pockets to sample a steak or imported Italian wine, but with a set-up this inviting and food this tasty, you won't regret treating yourself in the slightest.

This restaurant has to be one of the busiest restaurants in Sutton. Definitely book for this one as it seems popular for family meals, yummy mummies and dates - basically all of Sutton Coldfield. Tables are very close together for a true intimate Italian restaurant feel, along with an open plan kitchen for you to watch your food being cooked. It can get pretty hot so there is an option to be seated outside. Waiters are friendly and food is served quickly and arrives hot. Be warned the waiters go in with the hard sell, at one point a waiter brought out a secret and more expensive wine menu to my boyfriend to 'impress the lady'... A Cocktail menu would have been more impressive. A specials menu with no pricing, dinner here could get very expensive here if you let the waiters talk you into it. We ordered the pizzas, which were around £10 each and decent portions. They were nice but not the best pizzas I've had, a nice change from the Ask or pizza express both located nearby. Despite the overzealous waiters, it's a good Italian to go to in the area on a Friday or Saturday night. Service was quick and we were definitely at no point ignored ;-)

They are generous in portions and happy to make what you want to-order. Also, this is one of the few chip shops where I am comfortable ordering several different things off the menu and knowing that I'll have a good meal. Even with some big chain's in the area and with other chip shops that are cheaper, this still is on the top on my list when I want a good takeaway. It's always great value and I know I'm going to be more than satisfied with what I get!

I used to visit this Big John's on the way home from College many moons ago, and although the service is a little shaky, I can't score it less than 5 stars because it is AWESOME! A mixed kebab, with donner meat, delicious chicken tikka, salad, chilli sauce all served in a GIANT NAAN... costs a meagre £3.50! After taking my friends there recently and introducing an out-of-towner to experience it, one of them looked at my kebab and said, "how on earth are you meant to eat that? It's massive!" I agreed, and then showed him. It seems the way you are meant to eat it, is with a smile on your face!

DO NOT let this bother you. - recently, my wife and I ate an OK Greek meal, but it was in a such a beautiful premises, that anything but an amazing food experience would have been a let down. The food didn't match the quality of the restaurant. I just think that in this restaurant, when you walk in, it was so 1970's, that anything half decent was going to impress. It wasn't the best food. King prawns were over cooked, the bread was undercooked, the calamari was perfectly cooked, but the coating/batter was under. My 8oz fillet was perfectly cooked, but the pate on top was really cheap, coarse, tasteless, horrible pate. The sauce with the steak was stupidly thick, (but seriously tasty). Such a shame. That said, it was great. I love the fact that after all those comments, I loved it. I also can't wait to take friends there to see what they think. I think you should visit. It's a great evening.

Tiled, mirrored walls and arching pillars add a sense of authenticity to the interior and leather seats make the whole set-up feel plush and expensive. Which is very apt indeed, as most dishes cost in excess of £15 each. On my visit, I sampled the 'pollo alla duchessa' - chicken, prawn and asparagus in a brandy and cream sauce, which was gorgeous, and I'd definitely visit again. But only if somebody else was paying!
