I started traveling this route regularly a couple of weeks ago along highway 99. Gas stations can be far and wide in these parts. Some will advertise on huge signs that you can see a mile away. However, they can't beat the price here at this station. This ARCO AMPM has a very little sign with little numbers. That's probably why I missed it coming up the first time while passing through Pixley. Just remember exit 120 and you're good to go! It's on the east side of the freeway and the only thing around this exit. Could save you at least 20 cents/ gal! You go Pixley ARCO!

Or maybe it was the fact that all I'd had for breakfast was a glass of coconut water and a venti Starbucks Cafe Misto so I was in need of both a restroom and some munchies. The banner on the fence says "now open" and there is a sign stating who financed the construction so I'm guessing this location is relatively new. After all that prominent signage I was surprised that the actual Arco sign at the exit is rather small, though what it lacks in size it makes up for in height.. I usually find that gas stations along the side of the I-5 Freeway, which I travel more often than the 99 charge much more for gas than stations in town. Therefore, I was surprised to discover that the gas sold here is cheaper than at most Arco stations in Bakersfield. Bonus. The bathroom fixtures, the toilet and the sink, were very clean. The floor was free of dirt, but there were small piles of toilet paper in two corners of the room making it appear messy. There were two soap dispensers, both full, and a Dyson airblade hand dryer which was quite lovely. The fountain boasted three diet soda options, Diet Pepsi, Diet Coke, and Diet Dr. Pepper. Also in the fountain was a deluge plus Pomegranate Berry Vitamin water, but it was hard to tell if that was the kind with lots of sugar in it. There were six different flavors of the Ampm freeze, their version of the Slurpee/Icee. The young girl workking the counter was shy but friendly. She smiled and wished me a nice day, but didn't look up to meet my eyes. This station is conveniently located just off the 99 Freeway at Ave 120 and has easy access both on and off the freeway making it a great pit stop. I didn't pick up gas here, but from experience I know that Arco stations don't accept credit cards, only cash or ATM/debit cards, usually for at $.35 using your card.

We pulled to the side of the road to check and find out right tire was torn to shreds. Since we just brought the RV few weeks ago, we had no tools, jacks and not even an ordinary screwdriver. Around us there were the only farm, no person insight and no car on the road has stopped to help us. We called to a local tow company and they referred us to these super guys at Tire Zone! They responded immediately to our call. Miguel said that he would come out to help us change the tire on the road in 15 minutes. Within 10 minutes they came to the rescue! We were saved! Less than through 25 minutes we were on the way! The guys are working quickly and efficiently, at the highest level. Big thank you to Miguel and the guys!

The sun was starting to set, and AAA had just informed us they couldn't do anything to help other than tow us to some random place of our choice and search on Yelp. Although we were about a 40 minute drive out, they came out very quickly and efficiently, informed us of their location, and found us without much trouble on our part. They replaced the tire quickly and even adjusted the pressure for the rest of our tires. We were back on the road within 15 minutes of their arrival! But based on the response a year after my post it kind of represents the overall progress that is happening.

This is not a reputable company. They will show up to rip your tank out of your yard if you do not…read morepurchase propane from them often enough. It does not matter if the tank rental is paid up or not. This happened to me a year and a half ago with no forewarning. I managed to talk them out of taking the tank explaining I didn't need much propane as I only used it to cook with. Now, they have tripled the rental fees on the tank because I am not buying enough propane from them. They are aggressive, they are not honest and if they can, they will rip you off.
