They quoted me $200-$300 more to replace the mother board and said I needed to pay for a data transfer (another $135.00 plus cost of the motherboard) OR I could just buy a new computer, pay for a service plan ($200) and they would transfer my data which would have come close to $1k. Frankenstein told me I didn't need a data transfer with a motherboard replacement and charged for labor and parts which was pretty straightforward. I estimate I saved $200 on the motherboard replacement or $600 if I had to buy the new computer. Repair took about a week (through a holiday), but was reasonable given they had to order a part. They communicated throughout the process. I definitely will go back!

He jokes that he was there when Al Gore invented the internet. A little cheesy but believable for how long he and his team have been doing this. I think I remember him saying over 20 years just by himself. The thing that impressed me most were the questions he asked to really understand my vision along with offering suggestions and ideas I never had thought of, nor had any of the other companies suggested. Fast forward, the entire process working with Josh, Linda, Jessica and the rest of the team was so easy and pleasant. I almost wish it wasn't done and over with. I'm excited to be seeing the results with my new site even though Josh and his team said it would probably take a couple of months to really see with traffic to the site. Even more proof of their promise of under promising and over delivering. I will continue to not only work with these guys for a long time, I have become one of their biggest fans, recommending them to everyone I know and anyone looking for a local Austin website designer. Despite multiple good-faith attempts to resolve the matter directly and professionally, the project was ultimately abandoned without completion, leaving me no choice but to pursue legal remedies. My experience was marked by poor communication, lack of accountability, and complete failure to follow through on contractual commitments. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this business.

Unlike, what I read in a review below, these guys were "quick." I did have a solid idea of what design concept I wanted for the site with our very specific needs in an easy to use document. (I encourage anyone redoing a website to do this - otherwise there is tons of time wasted on back and forth.) Space Chimp provided a good designer/developer that knew wordpress well and was very fast in his development. Anything that he did not know how to do he let me know. Communication was good from start to finish. Our site is spiabroad (com) if you want to see the work they did for my company SPI High School Study Abroad programs. They finished our site redesign in a very timely manner and have been very easy to work with since. They gave us a dedicated account manager which has been very helpful to get the periodic updates and tweaks to the site done. This past weekend our website went down due to a server hosting issue (not related to Space Chimp) and the guys came to our rescue all day long on a weekend. I was very impressed. Listen, most web people are not always the best at communication. These guys actually are. I highly recommend them for many years, but above all they simply do good work that follows all the current and up to date trends in web design and online marketing.

From the very beginning, these guys were professional and easy to work with. The sales process was easy - I liked how they setup their packages/pricing. Any time I had a question, they made sure to clearly answer it. Their response time to emails and phone calls could not have been better (most of the time, they were waiting for ME to reply!) When it came to developing the new site, these guys made it a cinch. They offered many options and example sites for me to pick design elements from and also provided feedback and ideas. I wasn't sure what I wanted the site to look like initially, but they quickly had me envisioning the possibilities. Through the design process, James was phenomenal to work with. He was extremely responsive and very detailed with his questions about the site and made sure to tell me what to expect during the process. He was very timely and got things done when he said he would. James read my (sometimes lengthy) emails describing what I wanted, and almost always hit it on the head with the first attempt. Take care out there, y'all. For the first time in 28 years, I found myself alone at sea with a couple of tech issues that were increasingly problematic. Nerds in a Flash arrived late on a day that I was tightly scheduled and asked for considerably more than they had originally estimated (exactly the same job/problem I had described to them)... but redeemed themselves by cheerfully solving my problem and agreeing to the original estimate. Would I hire them again? You bet, but I recommend that you have them come in on a day that you have a flexible schedule, because your own time pressures are demonstrably unimportant to them.

If you are needing a hard drive/HDD recovered, Tom/IT Data Recovery is the place to go…read more On Saturday 01/07, my 4TB WD HDD with 8 years worth of videos and photos wonked out. Most importantly, I had almost 1TB of honeymoon photos and videos that hadn't been backed up. I googled "hard drive recovery Austin," which led me to Tom at IT Data Recovery! After reading his (well-deserved) glowing reviews on Yelp & Google, I reached out to Tom around 11:45PM via Yelp to provide full details of the situation. To my amazement, Tom responded back at 12:15AM and let me know to call in the morning. I was grateful for Tom's speedy and accommodating response since Google showed that his business is closed on Saturdays and Sundays. On Sunday 01/08, Tom & I spoke on the phone. He was honest and upfront with the pricing, provided realistic expectations of what ITDR can do, gave us the go-ahead to drop off the HDD at his office, and provided detailed guidance on how to find the office. I also had a lot of questions that Tom was more than patient enough to answer! The drop-off took no more than 10 minutes. Tom asked us which folders in the HDD were a priority (in case it crashed mid-cloning). For me - it was the Honeymoon and Hawaii folders; everything else was second priority. Throughout the following week, Tom provided progress updates via phone & e-mail. As an anxious person, it was reassuring that he was super communicative! Tom also shared with us a recovery agreement to sign via e-mail. On Monday 01/16, Tom let us know that he was able to recover perfect copies of the Hawaii & Honeymoon videos and 99.9%+ of the sectors after the repairs and multi-pass cloning. On Wednesday 01/18 (10 days after drop-off), we picked up our recovered data. Tom placed them in a 5TB portable USB drive that was compatible for both Mac and PC. Tom reminded us to make copies of the backup and let us know that ITDR has the data backed up for 30 days in case something went wrong after pick up (e.g., if it was dropped or mishap with the transfer process). If you are uncomfortable with that, you can also let him know via e-mail to wipe the data earlier. Payment was quick and easy, and Tom sent us a receipt via e-mail afterwards. Overall, everything from beginning to end was super professional and efficient. I highly recommend Tom & ITDR!

We ended up finding Frankenstein in North Austin, quite far from our home, but oh, such a difference in expertise and attitude! Problem solved, first trying to fix it remotely and failing, then taking old and new computer to Frankenstein. I do not intend to return to Computer Repair Connection.
