We went and saw Hail Mary yesterday at the Pix. We walked up to the theater from the house, so glad we got our tickets on line because it was sold out. Which surprised us as it was a 3:30 matinee on a Monday, but it was the first day of spring break and the audience was mostly adults. As always we were greeted with a smile and a welcome back. By far the best find in Oregon. We've been coming up to Corvallis and Albany for four years and just this weekend we found this gem. The owners Diane and Rod were fantastic hosts, and created such a magical space. The sound and picture quality were top notch, the seats were very comfy and they deliver food to your seat. Speaking of food, all their food is great and very reasonably priced... definitely not the stale movie food we've all grown accustomed to. We had a piping hot pepperoni pizza and a terrific medianoche cuban sandwich they call El Jefe. If you're in town I strongly encourage you to the make the time to visit, and if you're in a neighboring town...trust me it's worth the drive. read more

Recently we watched National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation at The Albany Pix Theatre! It was our first visit there, and it was fabulous! One of the proprietors introduced the film with heartfelt notes and then the entire audience of fans sat back and enjoyed the show! Imagine a laughing group calling out "I don't KNOW, Margo!", hollering "Shitter's full!", and singing along to Mele Kalikimaka like it was a bright Hawaiian Christmas day! The food and drink were a notch above normal theater fare, tasty and not cineplex-expensive! I enjoyed my half-caf latte and we both enjoyed hot dogs and high-quality buttered popcorn. The items that took time to prepare were delivered to our seats just before the show started. The theater is warm and welcoming, full of cinematic quirk, and decorated with self-referential cultural totems everywhere! It is a very worthy nerdy lair of the highest order, and will be my Theater Of Choice henceforth! Well done, Pix! Being in the same town as you makes me happy! We love you already! read more

This place is a gem. I always tell everyone I know to see movies here because it is always the best experience. The decor creates such a cozy vibe and the snacks are the absolute best. Some of my favs are the popcorn (of course), root beer floats, chai tea latte, and hummus and veggie plate. And chocolate dipped frozen bananas!! Everything is reasonably priced too. They often do special movie showings which is super fun, and they go all out decorating for whatever movie is playing. I come here any chance I get, I never go to other theaters anymore, it's just not the same. The staff are excellent as well, super kind and welcoming. I hope the pix stays open forever and ever! Absolutely wonderful local theater! Went for the first time today with my wife and our kids for a showing of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever alongside fellow NAACP members and supporters and had a wonderful experience. It has a great "nerdy" aesthetic which I loved and you can just feel the love for cinema which I find very refreshing compared to the corporate-feel of the nationwide theater chains. Also, they have a great menu for getting just about anything you'd want, including some of the best popcorn I've ever had. We will definitely be coming again and want to say thank you to the owners for hosting the event. read more

So, since my last review, I am upgrading the rating. Since opening they are constantly finding ways to make it better. The decor has improved and the seating area in the lobby has become very friendly...in the sense that you just want to hang out there before a movie. We go there early to eat and chat when on date night. Then catch the movie. They have started to show older movies. The owner knows heaps about movies and gives short presentations about the flick you are about to see so that when to watch it, the watching experience takes on more meaning. Super fun. We love the Pix Theatre! It just has a very welcoming feel to it. Family owned and run. Friendly staff. My kids like the unique collector decor in the lobby. Great concessions! Reasonably priced. Want a burger and a beer with your movie? Pizza? How about a piece of homemade pie? No problem! Any time a movie comes out that we want to see, we check here as our first choice. I love this movie theatre and I hope they stay open for as long they can. They are a second premiere movie theatre, but ig you are patient its so worth it. The food is delicious and at Pix you will find anything from home made truffles, to hummus, and quesadillas. The decor in the main room is cozy and full of fun games and books. I went the other night to see the Zookeepers Wife and had a wonderful evening. The popcorn is scrumptious and the list of wine and beer is not bad. You can also order and have food delivered to your row! Havent used this service yet but will next time. The showings are normally in the evening so they can keep their operations cost low. The prices are GREAT! Not going to find a better deal than at Pix. Staff is nice, environment is nice, perfect for friends, family, and first dates. Highly recommend!!!!! read more

This theatre was perfect for my 90-year-old Mom to navigate - no steps, easy-access place for a walker, accessible restroom. Even more, they had a set of headphones she could use to supplement hearing. Very nice staff, good refreshments, comfortable seats and terrific movie (Downton Abbey)! Prices are very reasonable too. My new favorite theatre! I'm not a movie buff by any means, but when I heard this theatre was showing threads Big Lewbowski I was stoked! I was even more excited when I arrived. Cute building, nice atmosphere, friendly staff, the best popcorn I've ever had in a theatre (and I am certified obsessed with popcorn. I'm somewhat of a snob about it), and they serve local beer. The best place in the area to see movies! The theater is good sized, clean and has excellent sound and picture. I live in Corvallis and will travel the distance to Albany to see movies here as opposed to the ratty rundown chain cinemas in town. The owners/operators are so friendly, knowledgeable and cool. The food is excellent and the beer and wine selection rocks! They even have truffles! The lobby is so fun with film trivia, prop pieces and games. There is always music playing (actual vinyl on a turntable) that relates to the film. I spent my 20's and 30's working in cinemas in California always striving to be Mr Showmanship. Now that I'm in my 60's The Pix is a fantasy come true! read more

Very cool place. I'm still finding gems like this business around Albany all the time. The owners gave a lot of attention to detail, and didn't hold back when creating a relaxed environment. My wife and I have been here a couple times now and love coming here. You can enjoy your food and have a beer or a glass of wine while enjoying your movie. The seats are comfortable and the staff are ultra friendly. The lobby has a very warm feeling to it with both vintage and modern movie posters lining the wall. Awesome!!! This is a real gem in Albany! The decor and ambiance of the main area is eclectic, unique, quirky, and just plain fun! There's so much to look at. I'd suggest getting there early for your movie just to get a snack and a coffee and look at all the pictures and knick-knacks. The food options are way better than a big chain theater, they even have packages you can purchase that involve full meals from local restaurants (Local love!). Food and ticket prices are really good too. I got a tea and was given a real mug (LOVE) but then didn't have anywhere to put it when watching the movie. The employees/owners were friendly, accommodating, and truly seemed to enjoy what they were doing. They are an exemplary display of the way all downtown business should operate and the business that should be filling all those empty commercial buildings. If we had more places like the Pix downtown Albany would be a vibrant and fun place to hang out. read more

I love the Pix! Forget the multiplexes. This place has character - and the owners are super nice, as well. Reasonably priced movies and concessions. Good beer and wine selection. I love when they bring back older movies, like 'Stand by Me', and am looking forward to their special showing of 'Fight Club'. I sometimes wish they wouldn't hold on to certain movies, so long - but I adore this place so much that they still get 5 stars. read more

Wonderful locally owned theatre. How many places can you go where you can see a flick, drink a pint, and have a decent dinner and not have to take out a second mortgage? The pix! I'm a big fan of their "El Hefe" sandwich, which is cheese, pickles and ham. Mmmm. They have local beer on tap (Calapooia) as well as bottled selections. My only fear (and hope) is that more people find out about the Pix. Seating is usually sparse, so I've almost always had a good seat. The staff is very friendly and efficient. I love this place... never fails to disappoint. We always look and see what's playing here before going to megaplex hell. Today we just came in for coffee (killer latte and apple pie in a mug btw) because it was raining and we don't don't know what else was in walking distance on our Albany exclusion. I got to hear Pink Floyd, Foo Fighters, and Ziggy Stardust all the while sitting in their beautiful lobby. That alone made the visit worth it. The family (I think they're all family) that operates it are the nicest group and the owner seems to really love movies. We have seen the 30th anniversary of "back to the Future here and the 20th of PULP FICTION-yes, I know! We have seen other movies here too. The price is a bonus. You can actually get pop corn and a drink with your tickets for the same price as Carmike.The is kinda becoming one of our favorite places, we don't mind the drive from cornvalley. read more
