There's seating at the bar, tables and booths inside; additional covered seating outside with plenty of heaters. Blankets would have been a nice touch We ate pumpkin curry soup and homemade pumpkin ravioli for one meal. It was amazingly delicious! The next meal was traditional Wienerschnitzel with German potato salad; another tasty meal. They do a great job with their beer which is brewed in house. They also have guests beers.

It was pretty decent. Hubs had a couple of beers. We ordered the Spicy Chipotle Popcorn Chicken with Chili Dip. It was the equivalent of pub food back home....nothing gourmet, but decent and filling. This pub could very well be a tourist place, but it didn't seem that way to us. It was practically full when we decided to visit, and all the outdoor tables were taken. Inside isn't necessarily small, but it can be crowded, with tables set close together. Service was friendly and efficient, and the prices were ok. I'd stop in again. 46/2025

Actually I can exit my cool apartment building, turn left, and just keep walking straight even when the street changes its name in one block - and arrive at Laurenz in ten minutes. Laurenz looks great - outside & inside. Many clever beer sayings adorn the walls outside and you even find a few funny ones inside. There is a bar and a couple of dining areas. You can eat & drink where you choose. Since they make their own beer here, let's start with that. The beer is great! I had a Vienna Red beer here that tasted fresh and nicely balanced with hops & malt. The soup I ordered was the Beer Cheese Soup which was so good I could have eaten a whole pot of it. I loved how there were still chunks of melted cheese residing in its delicious broth. An Austrian soft pretzel nicely accompanied this offering. My main course was also tremendous. - a delicious pumpkin Flammküchen with Creme Fraiche, caramelized onions, Grana Padano, and Austrian pumpkin seed oil. The crust of this tasty concoction was perfectly baked. Service was most friendly and efficient. Laurenz is a winner! I def will be back .... and also I will bring some of my visitors to Vienna who I know will also enjoy its charms and libations.

The brewery also has a restaurant which is quite large. Upon entering the dining room is to the left. There are tables along one side of the wall that up a set of stairs to more tables. There are additional tables in the center of the dining room. Heading down a set of stairs leads to the main bar. The lighting fixtures are rather creative and make use of empty Starbrno bottles. The Sauerkraut Soup has a deep red hue studded with drizzles of sour cream. The soup is hearty and rich, and is loaded with pickled cabbage as the name suggests. The soup contains large mushrooms and potatoes, which give the soup an earthy flavor. The soup has a slightly sour finish from the sauerkraut. This was a very good dish, and would gladly order it again. The Caesar Salad contains fresh, crunchy romaine lettuce with homemade croutons and loads of parmesan cheese. The salad contained a generous amount of grilled chicken which was tender. The dressing had hints of anchovy, but there was way too much dressing and overpowered the salad. The Foie Gras was nicely seared on both sides, but since the slices were somewhat thin were slightly overcooked. It retained the rich, creamy, fatty texture however. The grilled apples added some sweetness to combat the richness of the foie. The Goulash contained very tender chunks of beef, but my main complaint was there wasn't much meat served. There was some carb overload as the dish was served with two potato pancakes, which were nice and crunchy, as well as bread. The dish was only lukewarm, so a bit of a disappointment. The sauce was also slightly bitter, which may be from too much paprika? The Beer Sponge-Biscuit Tiramisu was a take on the classic dish, served in a rustic fashion in a beer glass. The tiramisu had a hint of sour cream which gave the dish a slight tang. The dish was very good overall, but was somewhat misleading as the beer could not be discerned. The Pancakes with Lemon Sour Cream were unlike American pancakes. These looked like small hockey pucks, and was more reminiscent of a biscuit, but was a little lighter and fluffier. The cinnamon butter was light but not very spicy. The blueberries were plentiful, but not very sweet. The dish was good, but unusual when thinking of "pancakes". This dessert was not very sweet despite all of the sweet components. Pivovarska Starobrno is maybe the most "commercial" restaurant in Brno outside of KFC, but they do serve some good food at reasonable prices in a nice, relaxed atmosphere.
