I just loved, loved, loved the atmosphere! Yeah, maybe it's touristy, I don't care. Folksy, homey, and authentic Czech food. My smoked pork with two different kinds of dumplings was delicious, but the red cabbage and sauerkraut were not to my liking. I learned why after I saw big vats of it being prepared at an outdoor market. It's sauteed in lard, lots of lard. I can't stand the taste or the thought of eating it, though at this meal I didn't like the taste without knowing why. I suspect that my take on the cabbage is probably different from most people's, so if you are a lard-lover, this would probably be a great meal. It was halfway for me. I'm also not a beer drinker, so I can't review that. But you CAN eat the atmosphere, so go!! read more

We ate at Pegas at the recommendation of our hotel, though it was somewhat difficult to find at first. Look for the yellow sign beyond the giant rock display. My husband wanted schnitzel but then he saw a plate of food being taken out to another table and was intrigued. He ordered the same, a type of schnitzel but with slices of ham inside. The portion was HUGE! He had two large pieces and age every by of it. It was very good. My daughter and I both ordered the chicken with cream and asparagus and it was fantastic! It came with red cabbage and a small salad, both which were decent. I also ordered curry rice on the side, which was several servings. By itself, it was somewhat bland. However we mixed it into our main dishes and it kicked it up a notch. My husband also tried two of their speciality beers, as they are their own brewery. The dark was somewhat bitter and he didn't finish it. The sweet gold was very good. read more

As a Czech, I have to say Pegas restaurant and brewery is an amazing place to visit if you want to have a great authentic Czech food. They have anything you can think of from Svíčková, zelí s knedlíky (sauerkraut or red cabbag with dumplings), schnitzel and one of my favorite Czech soups - česnekačka (garlic soup). I have eaten here several times and have tried many different dishes and was never disappointed. In addition to yummy food, the beer is always excellent here and it is brewed in the house. There are always several kinds to choose from, so this place is a wonderful spot to just come for this delicious liquid in case you have already eaten elsewhere. Too bad for you though, because like I said - the food in Pegas is really tasty! I especially enjoy their wheat beer which I am a huge fan of and sadly, wheat beer is not that common in Czech Republic which makes this place even more special for me. Cheers! read more

Quite tasty food and a good selection on the menu. However, it seems that service with a smile is very hard to find. It was a slow Thursday night around 9pm and the waiter had no more than 3 words for us, and 'forgot' about 100 crowns of our change when we paid the bill. Good beer too, though apparently they don't have the seasonal special which is listed on the menu any longer - or else he decided that it was easier to say this than explain what the beer actually was. read more

We dined here with my husband and 2 colleagues from their work. This place was recommended by a local. We sure were happy we ate here. I had the pork ribs and it was delicious. The serving was also huge. It was very tender and was peeling off the bones. My husband also enjoyed his african steak. We were all happy with our orders. The guys also loved the house beer. This is not a place for vegetarians, but if you like great atmosphere, tasty beer, and a hearty, meaty menu, then pull up a chair and grab a fork. My dining companion said it was the best meal he'd ever had in the Czech Republic. As a vegetarian, I wasn't excited about the menu, and my bowl full of broccoli covered in cheese wasn't really what I craved, but I still thought this was a great experience and would highly recommend it (unless you are a hungry vegan/vegetarian, in which case, you'll want to eat before you come and enjoy the great beer). read more
