Wake Med is fortunate to have her and I benefitted greatly from her knowledge and experience. The front desk people, Jodie and Yvette were always friendly, helpful and happy. My overall experience was the best. Thanks to everyone!

I worked with Melissa Bieber, PT for over 6 months. We worked on strengthening my shoulder, back,…read moreand core. Melissa has done so much for me that my doctors could not. Her assessment skills are advanced and she was able to detect underlying medical conditions that were causing my chronic pain! Afterwards, we were able to manage the pain with the appropriate treatment plan. She is extremely organized and provides me printed out handouts of my workouts with visuals and instructions. I am so grateful for my WakeMed family, as I feel like I got my life back. Thank you so much! Staff: I want to give a shout out to Carma and Jillian at the front desk for their welcoming smiles and humor. Everyone has been very kind. Sometimes, I bring a family member or friend, and staff has accommodated them. Facility and Environment: The facility has efficient gym equipment and bands for everyone's needs. They have a private room for initial evaluations, but most of the facility is an open concept where you work one-on-one with your PT. Sometimes, I am in the facility by myself when I schedule late afternoon sessions near closing time, but if you are scheduled during other times, you could be one of maybe up to 5 patients dispersed in the area. There is enough space for you and staff. The facility is also very convenient because my Orthopedic doctor is located across the hall, and my PCP is located upstairs. Building: The facility is connected to the WakeMed North Hospital building, but at the back side. When facing the front of the hospital, drive to the building's right side and turn the SECOND LEFT for the main entrance. (The first left is an oval parking lot mainly for Wake Orthopedics or for Physician's Practices visits. You'll be confused if you park here for your first visit.) The main entrance has a semi-circular drop-off area which is great for wheelchair access. There should be a sign on the sliding doors that say something like, "WakeMed Physical Therapy and Rehab." When you walk through these sliding doors, go past the restrooms, and the door is at the end of the hallway, to the right. If you cannot find parking in the open lot, there is a parking deck diagonal to the entrance, but there's always free parking spots around the back of the building. If you ever get hungry after your appointment, you can go to the WakeMed Cafeteria for a bite. They serve great lattes at the coffee bar, too.

I want to share my experience to help other patients avoid unexpected costs when visiting…read moreEmergOrtho. Please take the time to stop and carefully read anything you are asked to sign in their office. During my visit to the Raleigh urgent care location, I was provided with an arm brace without being clearly informed that it would cost nearly $200. I later discovered that a similar brace could have been purchased online for under $25. I was not given the opportunity to decline or explore more affordable options. Additionally, if you are paying out of pocket, make sure to get your quoted price in writing. At the Wake Forest location, I called ahead and was given a price for my follow-up visit. I paid that exact amount at the appointment, but was later billed an additional $25 with no prior notice or explanation. To make matters worse, attempts to resolve this issue were unsuccessful. The manager never returned my calls or responded to my email. Overall, if you must, I strongly encourage patients to ask detailed questions, request written cost estimates, and fully understand and question any documents before signing to avoid unexpected charges.

Is this a smoking cessation business or orthopedic office? Yes, I know smoking is bad and not the best for healing but mind your business. There is no way I can succeed at quitting smoking if I have to focus on doing it for 6 weeks total and not just one day at a a time, plus, I was told after the 6 weeks I may schedule an appointment so we can talk about scheduling the surgery for who knows when... What?? So maybe 6 weeks + 6 weeks or whatever. Figure out what business you are in. Set up to fail.

Don't go to the AFC Urgent Care in Wendell, unless you are in need of actual medical assistance -…read morein that case I would advise you to go elsewhere. I would like to point out that they have no email listed on their contact page here: https://www.afcurgentcare.com/wendell/resources/contact-us/ , only a phone number. So anyways, I went to the AFC Urgent Care in Wendell after I received a cut to my nose in a bicycle accident, which was not life threatening. The front desk receptionist asked me for $100 up front to be seen, and I told them to bill me later - the bill ended up being $191 instead of $100! But let me tell you what happened during the actual visit with the nurse whose name is listed as "Bunn, E" on the bill. She briefly looked at my nose and manipulated me into going to the emergency room at the nearby hospital. Her reasoning was that "our x-ray machine is broken" or some hogwash like that, when all I really needed was for them to fix up the wound. She used some incredibly coercive tactics on me, such as saying I couldn't leave the urgent care without signing a waiver first (???), and then having another lady watch over me in an attempt to prevent me from leaving. She practically bossed me into taking an ambulance to the hospital instead of driving there (I was perfectly capable of driving back home instead of that hospital or the urgent care), and I only agreed to it because I had ambulance insurance that would cover the whole cost of transportation. And the EMTs were pretty unprofessional too, asking me to sign a waiver that stated "I wasn't being kidnapped." Oh, and then the hospital billed my medical insurance $10,000, leaving me with a $2,300 bill for a 2 hour stay, and listed as an "auto accident" even when I told them multiple times that it was just a low velocity bicycle accident? All of you guys can really do better, especially when I wasn't being rude to anybody. In the itemized hospital bill, they are asking for $5,300 for a CT Scan, $252 for a Diphtheria, Tetanus, and Pertussis Vaccination, and $1100 for an x-ray. On top of that the doctor at that hospital billed me seperately (???) for $202? Please, try to take the maximum amount of money you could possibly charge from somebody else, not me please. Maybe from somebody with lots of spare change, robbers. Back to the original issue - the urgent care representative told me "the office manager will call you later," even when I requested to communicate via email, not by phone. They do not give a single damn about their customers it seems. Go ahead, have a good laugh at my expense, and post some glowing reviews to balance out your review average. But I object to most of these absurd medical bills you gave me.
